I'm German and this hurts me in so many ways just because we would wait at a red light in the middle of the night when there is no single car in sight within a 10km radius, but... How can you not even care about looking up from your phone before crossing the street, not even with your baby in a stroller?

@@herbaHD Aber Frankfurt ist auch ganz besonders. Gibt zwar Leute, die auch über rot gehen, aber wirklich, dass Leute einfach komplett ignorant über rot gehen ohne zu gucken, ist wirklich selten der Fall (zumindest außerhalb Frankfurts lol)

@@adamarato4662 Not so much the speed of his bike because he`s not travelling fast in most of those clips, more the agility and lower visual profile than a car.
Me: owner of over seventy bikes....and car/van driver etc
I would say though that some of those people are old, with bad backs/hip jobs/eyesight deterioration/on depression meds/ heart meds/ diabetes injuries & meds etc, etc, plus slower reactions....maybe even some younger people carrying old injuries from motorcycle accidents :) Most of those areas look to be the domain of pedestrians, where motorists are permitted to pass through.....at least when I last looked, that was how the traffic codes read many blue moons ago when my driving instructor described them thus. I was turning right into a street and a pedestrian was poised to cross. He pointed out that they had right of way, so I let them cross. Of course, no traffic lights in that situation, so slightly different. This comment wont be popular for city drivers/bikers, haha. Some folk never walk anywhere, so they don`t appreciate the other side.

They come to Spain, try to do a 5 meters long jump from a balcony to a pool. Hundreds of them every year. Like they lack of human logic. It's a huge mistery how british people have survived...

It is always entertaining, but also a little bit sad, seeing the ignorance of all those tourists. In their defence one could say they are not used to traffic coming from a different direction, but traffic lights are the same all over the world. Thanks RJ for taking the time collecting all those clips.
Im from a left hand driving country and driving in UK/Ireland and I thought that I wasnt that tough... only when I got to the first go-around I found I was wrong

Same with me, the first roundabout I come to when driving in Europe normally makes me pause for a few seconds. I've ridden on the wrong side in the UK before, no excuse for that as I hadn't been out of the country for over a year before that point 😬

@RJ have you seen the new rules to the highway code that come into affect at the end of this month. You will have to give way to the pedestrians in many of these instances from then!
He should have been anyway. The highway code has always said that green means proceed if it is safe to do so, not shoot off like a prick and intimidate people.

Ahh yes the typical cager response whenever there is any change to make streets something better than car-infested shit holes. Because in all of Europe it's completely barbaric right? Not really. In fact you look at countries where people wait at pedestrian lights more, it's normally in places that give pedestrians priority at uncontrolled crossings. In the UK people are less inclined to follow the traffic lights because people aren't thick and they know highway engineers don't care about them, only about cramming more pollution boxes onto our tiny streets that weren't made for cars. Nobody is going to wait an excessive amount of time, especially when you are waiting to let people who are actively polluting and killing your town or city's life and social fabric go in front of you. Stop the victim blaming bullshit and start living in the real world.

Yeah, I feel like we're not really on the same wavelength here, it's not about the wait or the number of pollution boxes out in the wild. It's matter of safety, given that in any junction that a pedestrian is waiting at, any vehicle is required to give way to the pedestrian, you know, like the ones in the video. Given that a pedestrian is to walk out in front of you despite you being less than a couple metres at the junction and you are to slam the brakes, the chances will be you'll be rear ended because the driver behind won't be expecting it or you'll be fault for hitting the pedestrian because you are suppose to give way legally. When this law gets put into place, people will care less about looking both ways and walk straight out just like that. We have lights and zebra crossings invented for the sole reason that traffic and pedestrians can cross their respective paths safely (given that you are following the rules) without having to stop abruptly for one another.
Also why are you so hung up on the pollution thing anyway. This change to the highway has nothing to do encouraging or discouraging the use of motor vehicles. You're bringing up an irrelevant point just to throw irrelevant insults at someone who doesn't think the same way. I'm not going disagree with you as if the UK is civilized but your points aren't made more convincing with that barbaric mouth of yours.
@@sassylemoncake3614 if you can’t stop safely or the vehicle behind you can’t stop safely for a zebra crossing then you’re going too fast. Simple as. Besides they’re not used on roads with over 30mph limits. If 30 is too much then the road should be reduced to 20mph (which should be the default speed within urban areas anyway)

I'm wondering if some sort of road surface illumination, maybe an LED grid working in conjunction with standard traffic lights would help reduce some of this pedestrian behaviour.

Not really, I mean most of them do it somewhat intentional. Look at the women with the baby. She just keeps walking like she has the right to go. I don't know why, but in Germany there are only some pedestrians who cross the road on red, but nowhere near so many

Where I live (Portsmouth) we just had a light up zebra crossing installed (1st in the country). It's supposed to help in the evenings, but can be seen working during the day too as it knows when people are nearing the crossing. Just need to implement these at all junctions with ped traffic and set it up in time with the traffic lights. So many cities have timers etc at crossings and thy work, just a shame people are plugged into their phones all the time to pay any attention when it's needed the most.

In Japan the pedestrians are pretty good about waiting for the signal. It's the damn bicyclists that don't want to follow the laws. I've had way to many near misses where a bicyclist will decide they want to be on the other side of the road and don't bother looking or signaling before whipping out right in front of traffic.

People crossing road are road users and therefore have right of way ,( always have been )the new rules in the Highway Code now clearly state this and as so the bike , car ,motorcycle or truck will be held accountable if taken to court will possibly result in prison .

You can be, though it’s unlikely… I’ve been riding about 6 years now and only been questioned about not having a baffle once. and that was because he caught me mid illegal manoeuvre and used it as a reason to search my bike. Didn’t ticket me though, just said to be more sensible and off you go

Asking cus a local dealer has an MT07 for sale with an SC project exhaust, sounds very good but from what I can tell it's a racing only exhaust, aka too loud for road use, and there's no first party baffles for it and I don't wanna get fined £50 every time I go out lmao
@@DonutTV yea i had a similar situation when I bought mine. The only other thing to consider is that it won’t pass an mot. So you’ll have to find a garage that won’t mind passing it without one

RJ has a separate sound recorder (Zoom h2n) in his jacket pocket, and mixes the sound from the GoPro with the sound from that recorder during editing.

I'm sorry but the majority of these were at crossings and junctions where as soon as the pedestrian puts a foot on the road you have to give way to them! (Highway Code Rule 8 & 170, you are also causing Alarm and Distress by driving through them).
In one of them you clearly overtook the the nearest vehicle to a pedestrian crossing which is also illegal, then had a go at the pedestrian (Highway Code Rule 165 backed up by The RTA 1988 sect 36, TSRGD regs 10, 22, 23 & 24, ZPPPCRGD reg 24).
This guy's whole channel is based on his dodgy dangerous riding.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos - the Nuda is such an epic bike and must be the best sounding machine ever made.
Not sure if you're aware, but the law (Highway Code) is either about to change (or has already) to basically give pedestrians far higher levels of protection/rights when it comes to crossing the street. Basically, as I understand it, motor vehicles will have to give way to pedestrians either crossing or "intending to cross" a street. The information is contained in a series of videos by Ashley Neil (ua-cam.com/video/scVbKfKEwoE/v-deo.html) and makes for very interesting watching.
Keep up the good work RJ but be careful with the wandering idiots staring at their phones and stepping aimlessly into the road...
