    Great video Paul. Would never of thought to epoxy the rock to the glass. Great tip.

      Don’t go mad with the putty if doing so , but the first foot 🦶 of the rock to stop the structure from sounding helps and you will be able to scrape that one piece off if need be . Just helps secure things 👍🏼

    lovely video Paul and really insightful on what you need to set up this tank or any other reef tank. Nano’s seem to be the way forward for now and I am loving this tank and agree really well made and a big step up from the gen 1 tanks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

      Hi 👋 , thank you -yes great choice ! We still love the tank very much so and it has developed well in the following episodes . I can’t remember the actual model of extra circulation pump I added the latest smallest jecod flow pump MOW4 I think 🤔…but I’m considering a Redsea Reefwave 25 vertically or at least trying one to see if it’s not to powerful as the tank has now really grown out.

    Hello! Sorry if this is a stupid question, does it come with a heater?? If not, what do you recommend? I'm doing my research at the moment on the best tank to get!

    • @aactv3223
      @aactv3223  11 місяців тому

      We added a 100watt heater ( that’s the only thing they don’t come with ) . Later on you might want to consider an extra flow pump as your garden grows , but not needed at first 👍🏼 .

    You put putty under the rock where it met the glass - was there silicone or glue there as well or was it just the rock puddling from a vat?

    • @aactv3223
      @aactv3223  2 роки тому

      Nah I just glued the first rock to stop it slipping to the base - I’ll regret that in another 6 years . The water was from the porosity of the rock dribbling …

    I picked up one of these a week or so and have it cycling, would you say I should run the skimmer for a week like you suggest? Its been off.

    • @aactv3223
      @aactv3223  2 роки тому +1

      You can run in the skimmer - just don’t let it actually skim until you have completed maturation . The level control should be set low

    • @brian-te4xs
      @brian-te4xs 2 роки тому +1

      My peninsula has been running for a month now and I just turned the skimmer on basically after the tank cycled.

    • @aactv3223
      @aactv3223  2 роки тому +1

      That will be fine . It’s all about the starting process and whether the choice was to use dead rock and sand and a maturation program, as opposed to using liverock and live sand and partially mature water in terms of Turing a skimmer on or leaving it off . There’s no single right way but it sounds like your doing fine . Part 2 conning soon . All the best

      Hi Andy( Brett) We just shortened a standard program to keep within a 10 hour cycle , shifted the white to more or less the start of the day which runs for about 4 hours …then over to the blues mostly -no moonlight .

    great video but PLEASE invest in a gimbal to steady the footage.
    The constant movement gave me a headache and detracted from what is an otherwise educational video

      Agreed at times - I hear you , I’m only a newbie but I sort of favoured the not too polished look too if you understand what I mean . But hey 👋 I used a tripod for all of about 20 seconds in the follow up 😂 I’m editing now .
      Thanks 🙏🏻 for watching and I appreciate the comments . Paul aac
