I forgot to mention that Just Eat vehicle priority is heavily in favour of moped then cars and then bikes (in that order). So if you are a moped/car driver then you probably don't agree with what I'm saying but that's because it's a very different experience to us bike riders!

On my view as a car driver in my city i get the shifts I want at the times i want and just eat pays far superior than Deliveroo and uber, So I guess all depends in what town you are located , In my town just eat now gives to all orders all day +0.50£ per delivery , But on my city its a nightmare to use a car much faster on scooter or bike .
@@EatmeatAndBeHealthy Just Eat gives priority to cars/mopeds so that’s why it’s better probably. Deliveroo is king for bikes 👑
pretty sure deliveroo are paying more now but its COMPLETELY gone off a cliff in Notts...did a grand total of two jobs in nearly 6 hrs, never known it so bad
@@michaelsnow7252 I think it’s because all the students are finishing up uni and it’s summer time. I’m planning to visit other towns and cities. Nottingham is not fun anymore I’m afraid :/
@@GigHustle your right about the students, the jobs not worth doing when their not here.
Shift work and the gig economy don’t mix.
love this! completely agree with you with the shift system on just eat. i started doing food delivery for that sense of freedom i wasn't getting in my office job. when i couldn't do an order due to a technical fault with their app (which was problems their end) i got told it will affect my acceptance rate in the future. penalising me for something out of my control. it really makes you feel like an employee that doesn't sit well for me. deliveroo/uber you can do the work whenever you are up for it, and craft out a nice little hustle, which can give you a nice bit of cash when you need it. for me being a delivery rider is about putting the ball in your court and work whats best for you :)
I'm falling out of love with this gig to be honest! Too many riders/drivers (apps not able to control their supply) lower pay (apps trying to become more profitable) and less orders (customers don't want to pay crazy amount for food delivery) and then the cost of living crisis. You are basically earning less than minimum wage now without any benefits of an employed job and the flexibility isn't really there anymore because you have to work the busy times which is usually evening time.
@@GigHustle 💯! Even if this gig goes tits up keep making the great ebike videos though mate. I'll always be watching (usually from one of the McDonald's in Chichester, waiting for an order to crop up 😅)
Had the same issue in Glasgow, just eat giving me 7 mile orders for 10 quid, and having maybe 2 to 3 orders an hour, but uber eats its just order after order after order, what I like abt uber too is that it shows the busy areas better than just eat
The biggest problem with Uber is that it will give you order after order, but the majority of the time, the fees will be as much as the miles or sometimes lower than the mileage.
I just started on Just Eat this week. Completed two shifts. The reason is Deliveroo orders have gone down so bad in Glasgow, its worse now in summer with a lot of people going out to eat and also because many university students are back in their hometowns. Also there are just way too many Deliveroo riders here. Unfortunately with Just Eat most of the orders make me cycle long distances! The shortest distance I've done was 1.5 miles, others are all more than 2 miles. And I am not on an electric bicycle! I ride a 46 year old single speed bicycle. I think I will only do 2 shifts a week and I will ditch Just Eat when and if Deliveroo orders get better, or when I get a better part time job.
As a delivery driver myself i'd say if you're going to do Just Eats, you need car, you won't many orders or shifts on a bike...
Got the message off Stuart the other day in Manchester that they are losing just eat work. Be implementing it from mid June around the areas.
6:49 Indeed, so many riders, foreigners too at that, which persuaded me to quit delivering for Deliveroo. Got so bad and still is at times, I ended up shutting down my Deliveroo account. But when that's how Deliveroo see's fit in going forward, you're better off finding a more stable permanent job than be treated like dirt which you eventually will in Deliveroo favouring foreigners than the loyal longest riders such as yourself in being assigned work.
here at just eat in denmark we are getting new contracts soon. Guranteed 16 hours per week. Before it was 8. It's not much but it's a start. I really wish there was a system in place for the UK I don't think it's fair honestly. Thanks again for the videos mate.
They just got rid of the employed model where you get guaranteed hourly pay here in the UK. You still have to get shifts but there is no guarantee of earnings so it’s not my cup of tea tbh…

@@GigHustle up until this point it was basically like you. No shifts and no gurantee of shifts basically (other than the 8 hours). We have a FB group where we trade shifts but the shifts are gone instantly. I'm honestly looking forward to this change. Deliveroo sounds like what I would do if I lived in the uk.
I also dislike the Just Eat system, but I think the app is much easier to navigate than Uber (I don't have Deliveroo so can't compare). I don't mind the "Get Started" popup because sometimes it just gives me that extra bit of time to pull up if I'm cycling, and I don't feel rushed. Also the icons that show where your delivering too are really handy.
The most annoying thing is the address being wrong on every shift. How hard is it to just put the postcode and number? I always ring the customer and just ask for those and we good.
Loving the content. I want to upload some of my adventures but I'm not sure if I could get used to talking to a camera hahaha! I'll just keep using my GoPro as a dashcam for now 😁
100% a delivery app should not be getting delivery addresses wrong haha.
Talking on camera is not easy and took me a lots of practice to get used to it. After a while it feels natural but it's another thing filming in public and filming in the comfort of your room!
Great video Colin!
So here in the Netherlands, where Just Eat all started, we have like hourly pay so you just put your availability in and then you get scheduled every week. So that’s pretty nice because if there are no orders then you can just wait and still get paid. I’m only 16 years old so for me it’s a nice little side hustle! Sometimes I wish I could have like a fee for every order because then I would probably be able to get more money but yet I am then not guaranteed a certain amount of money, in regards to the app here it’s actually pretty fine and it does show the actual address lol. Also I think here they have much better support and stuff also because we are employed basically, but a shame to hear it’s not that good in the UK.
Just Eat used to be like that in the UK up until very recently they have changed it! The model of paying riders a minimum wage isn't an efficient business model so they got rid of it because now they can pay us the same amount but without having to pay for sick pay, benefits and holiday pay. Also if you don't get orders they don't have to pay you.
Anyways mate I'm happy for you! This is good work for a young chap :)
@@GigHustle ah oke, yeah that sucks then I guess, because I get like bonuses aswell and actually also kilometre allowance for my bike, so I get paid to ride my bike, also you are only aloud to use a bike here. But I also get holiday pay and stuff and if I calculate it, it basically comes down to about 10 euros per hour which is like really really good for a sixteen year old. So yeah I’m quite happy!
Started in Denmark.
@@jonlen100 really? But now it is owned by someone in The Netherlands right?
Is there a video for what bike he's using?
I do agree in that it feels pointless getting only 2 shifts a month in Portsmouth (if I'm lucky!) 🔵
I thought you were getting shifts on the regular! How do you survive with deliveries? You don’t have Deliveroo?
@@GigHustle I am currently a substitute for one of my subscribers on Deliveroo, other than that it’s pretty painful 😂
@@pompeybites I guess in your case Just Eat is better than nothing but Deliveroo is definitely best!
@@GigHustle yeah 100% I’ve posted a couple Roo shifts and they’re miles ahead of my other videos 😂
@@pompeybites yep I’ve seen haha. I know you were borrowing a friends account for Deliveroo! I also like that I can deliver on Deliveroo anywhere in the UK and I’m not restricted to zones!
Seems like the delivery company's are wanting it all their own way hope it gets better for you guy's 👍✌
Enjoying the content
I know we're not so much a tipping culture in the UK, but Just Eat don't even have the option to tip the rider! At least not anywhere I can see. People on Uber tip often, sometimes just to round up the bill which helps us massively.
You can tip but in person as in cash money
In Brighton I get 6 shifts a week and a lot of open shifts to take also. Love the videos by the way
Open runs? I swear all the shift grabbers take them! I never see them lol. Are you on moped/car? I think that might be the difference 🤔
I’m a ebike
Maybe take a adventure to Brighton and film a video would be cool 👌
Yeah I got a shift every single day this week on JustEat. New shifts come out and I have ONE next week. 9:30pm - 12:30am on a Friday. Hoping I can pick up some open runs.
Shift grabbers are a problem for open runs! I only got 2 shifts in the city next week...I'll do a follow up video testing out whether it's worth it or not!
If you get an open run do they pay you per hour .
This week i got Chilwell shift and this zone is quiet.
I agree the JE shift system is bad.
But i don't have deliveroo acc so i have no choice. 🥴
I decided not to deliver in that zone anymore...very quiet and you don't know if you will get orders or not!
I would get another job...even speak to some of your local takeaways and see if they need a driver! I hear some drivers earn decent money delivering for Chinese takeaways!
Since two weeks I have completed my registration in just eat. Didn't given any shifts till now
When i used to do delivering i liked just eat as it seemed to pay you for your collection distance too and waiting time of there was an excessive delay. I got some brilliant jobs that paid loads. But the rate really seemed to drop around here for all the apps. So i stopped. Enjoyed it while i did it, but just didn't seem worth it after tax when the rates reduced
This week 1 shift. Next week 8. Also its possible find some shifts in open runs. Bicycle account.
Lots of shifts where I live but you'll get 2 orders in 4 hours £9, why bother for just over £2/h. Stuart are starting to stop JE orders where I work from 28th June and it will be a 💩show on the JE app with support crashing left, right and centre when scores of drivers want to cancel their MaccyD orders... Currently I give McDonalds 2 minutes then I cancel the order.
This week loads of shifts but 0 jobs . Nottingham BTW.
Yeah Nottingham isn't going to be very good because the students are starting to leave and the weather is nice. The riders/drivers are not going anywhere so it's going to be fighting for scraps unless it's late in the evening!
@GigHustle I noticed on "city" zone, low jobs. But on vic zone or Hucknall lots of jobs I wonder if they give too many to city. No wonder city is avail alot. But yes I agree students make a massive impact.
I get 1 shift a week these days on JE, but the last 2 shifts I haven’t had any orders. I do pause it quite a lot because I’m getting plenty of orders on deliveroo.
In my local town I was getting plenty of shifts but some shifts were dead so it was a waste of time. I would have been better off going into the city. I got 2 shifts for next week in the city...I'll see what it's like in the city this time and give it another chance but tbh 2 shifts a week is pretty bad haha.
I also prefer picking up from independent places. Also agree that deliveroos app is better I've never used just eat but ubers app is annoying having to swipe up and down and not seeing where it's going properly
Have you ever done any work in Mansfield?
I noticed the issue with the addresses straight away, why not just manually put the address in first? Then you get the right address first time
Nice video can I know the make of your bike thanks.
If you ever do derby or anywhere in Derbyshire I am up to do it with u
Number one reason to leave NO BLOCK NO WORK!!!!!
Green light is GO if its safe to go .....
I'm guessing you are talking about the girl who darted out in front of me when the light went green...
7:35 why did you reject that order if its not busy?
no more stuart?
i just got accepted to just eat its so hard to get shifts plus the available zone i can deliver is like 1 hour away from me
U will get paid for doing nothing tho
@@noonly777 oh fr? I might have to give it a go then
I just got on just ear today, haven't done a shift yet but it says Google maps is linked
Google Maps is linked but it's not integrated properly so you'll get sent to wrong addresses. If you have Waze it apparently works as it should but that's not a bike friendly GPS.
Tbh just eat also used to never give me any shifts and i was bit worried for weeks, then i changed my scheduling preference to over 20 hours and also i reduced my availability days and i decided to change my zone to south of Leicester only because before i was selecting all zones so now i only select south zone and surprisingly i am getting lot of shifts, like they are giving me 7 shifts a week.
Yeah the issue is that they are giving me like 7 shifts in my local area but it's a town and the demand is very up and down. You can go out for a shift and get no orders so it's a bit of a waste. If you are getting plenty of orders then you are winning!
fun bit i see alot taking to them self a stig full face with a mic inside some riders have in my town there now to many
how they work i never know
Thing is they jack the price up to begin with and then you get all the service charges then the delivery fee, this applies to uber particularly, just eat isnt as bad but much slower on deliveries, where as deliveroo is somewhere in the middle of the 2 perhaps why they are the most popuular , now i could be completely wrong just my take .
Also my feeling is orders will continue to decline as money is tighter and its cheaper to order from the takeaways/supermarkets outside of these apps a lot cheaper.
They are caught in a catch 22 really theyd have to lower wages to close the price gap , but obviously that wouldn't be well received, understandably so
JUST EAT does act like you are an employee they hook you with choose your own schedule choose your own hours make money on your own terms , however :
You can't always get the shifts you actually want. When you are on your shift ,you aren't forced to get a set amount of jobs.
Also ,and I've learnt this after doing just eat for almost 2 years now, the acceptance rate is absolutely critical and if it is persistently low, they will harshly penalise you for a long long time.
The money you earn on deliveroo do deliveroo take a peace of it at the end of the month when you get payed
Like do they tax you
May I ask the name of your dads shop please.
Hi Sylvia! It's called PoweredBicycles in Nottingham :)
Sir, how long time does it take to create delivery accounts in UK? (UberEats, JustEat and Deliveroo)
KEEP THE HAND ON THE BIKE my sister has to deal with bike riders some in where she works
i was in my self for 4 weeks i was not going fast at all i ride a ebike the ebike went under me in the wet and i have a plate on my leg 30 years later i walk funny
Just eat really sucks lol but so does Deliveroo a lot of the time. Still better than just eat because you can actually log on and try to do orders. Imagine if we didn't have Deliveroo, only Just Eat and Uber haha. I haven't logged on in over a month though as I am trying to move on but I would love to do some busy shifts, problem is I don't want to commit and get disappointed. With the Summer around the corner I'm not sure if I should log on, imagine wasting all that good weather I'd rather cycle across the UK haha.
I'd have to retire without Deliveroo. Uber Eats is dead and Just Eat I can't get enough shifts in the city and you are locked to a city. I love that on Deliveroo you can go to other cities to work!
I combine both hobbies! I visit cities/towns that I want to cycle in and then I film delivery videos on Deliveroo/Uber Eats and if I don't get orders then I just have a good time in that place and film a video of cycling around haha
@@GigHustle Sounds fun, I like that about Deliveroo as well, but I don't like working Birmingham, London is so much better both for orders and the actual roads/navigation. Wouldn't mind a go pro as I like doing random Komoot/Strava cycles. Plus I know video editing just never had the recording equipment haha.
Are u with Stuarts partnered with Just Eats or Just Eats by itself?
Just…Just Eat now. Stuart is no longer delivering for them in Nottingham which is a shame because the Stuart experience was way better in my opinion. This will start happening to most cities…
@@GigHustle you serious how comes Stuarts pulling out. Do you know what other cities are next and yeah I'm with Stuarts. I'm based in Leeds. U should come through.
Do you have to keep locking your bike up
Do you pay taxes as an delivery driver?
Every job/business has to pay taxes!
The Romanians don't
Not gonna lie, you complain a lot😅
Us Brits like to complain haha. To be honest there isn't much to be happy about in this industry...more competition for orders, less orders and lower pay - don't forget the cost of living crisis and inflation. During the pandemic I was singing praises for these delivery apps but it's not looking good for food delivery in my opinion.
At the 9 minute mark it looks like the sky’s are going to open up and poor down. Great video I feel you have made the correct decision with just ears. Can you come back to them if things improve with the format they use? Mate thanks for the shout out. There will be more to come from me. Keep an eye out on that.
Sir, how long time does it take to create delivery accounts in UK? (UberEats, JustEat and Deliveroo)
2 words. (Don't Bother) All of them pay in peanuts!
@@Dr-Shite-Kickerbarely any alternatives tho
Just eat navigation is terrible. Done 11 orders in total and went to the wrong address 5 times already. Embarrassing. Done over a thousand deliveries on UE and deliveroo and never would that happen. Also orders cannot be cancelled. Did a shift on tuesday and kept taking me out the zone. Just Eat need to sort it out ASAP. Im from east London but gotta travel 8miles into central London for my shifts. 15miles of my e bike battery just goes on getting to and from the zone to home. Early days still but will see how things are after a few more shifts. Good work on your vids, keep it up 👍.
Yeah that should never happen on a delivery app!! London Eats has to travel into central for his Just Eat shifts...they are giving good money right now but eventually I think they will bring the fares down once they have established their footprint there. How do you have enough battery to do the shift? That is lots of time spent not making money travelling that far!
Does anybody use the pavement in the town where you deliver?
You mean cyclists? Yeah some people ride on the pavements because there are lots of cars on the roads and not the best cycling infrastructure
