- Imagine Dragons. The worst band of the 2010s. The new Nickelback. A band that's somehow labelled as rock. This is what they've been argued to be since a bit after their second album. While many in the music community argue that they're a band that'll never do anything good, I'm part of the opposite camp. I think they've done some great things and deserve at least a bit more credit than the mob praying on their downfall give them. In this video, I quickly summarize why I think they're not worth the fuss and why some of their biggest sins are more widespread in popular music as a whole.

I dropped the band completely once Origina came out, I found it dull and boring. I'd argue that Evolve already felt a bit lackluster and uninspired, and tbh that's a real shame!
Night Visions is a decent album (though vastly overrated), it had some arguably great tracks and some really bad ones as well.
But I'll die on this hill: Smoke+Mirrors is their best album and is their most adventurous and fulfilling experience yet. It's by no means an incredible album but I love it so much.
Theory of a Deadman and Five Finger Death Punch have always been worse

ok having grown up through the age of peak Nickelback i think i might be able to explain it. I think people have a lot of misconceptions about why Nickelback is so loathed. Nickelback was so hated because they were the poster child of buttrock, a terrible genre and the degeneration of the grunge and alt-rock movements that essentially took over pop stations in the 2000s. they were a bad band, but definitely not the worst band of the 2000s. Puddle of Mudd, Buckcherry, and Hinder were all far worse bands but Nickelback ruled the radio. Much the same, Imagine Dragons ruled the radio for a genre that i can only describe as....Millennial Pop(seriously can we get a better name for this?) with far better contemporaries in Edward Sharpe, Grouplove, and Phoenix and far worse contemporaries in AJR and American Authors(did we give AA a pass to do whatever just cause they were in that eric andre episode once or something? ). Imagine Dragons is a symbol for this type of music and is thus beaten for all the phony magnanimous sounds that run commercials
Respect to you for defending the band, though I don't care for them due to the production (which I find very just sterile in Pop Rock).
Pop Rock is just not a good genre tbh, cause there's much much better Pop music and Rock music that can be discovered
I don’t like music that is overly repetitive,
I know that music in a sense is supposed to be somewhat repetitive, however I’m not a huge fan of radio pop music because I find it obnoxious. But like he mentioned in the video they’re popular so they’re gonna get played everywhere I don’t think they’re terrible, I even like a few of their older songs because we don’t hear it as much
Imagine Dragons is the Ayreon/Dream Theater of growly white guys, weirdly lofty without really earning it. I say that despite liking a few of their songs for nostalgia factor.
As much as I like early Dream Theater, I have to agree
Imagine Dragons are a guilty pleasure of mine. Make no mistake, they're immensely oversaturated and they are cool to hate on, but I'll take them over other artists like AJR, Maroon 5 and Five Finger Death Punch.

I absolutely agree with everything you said maybe I would thought they were the worst thing ever back in 2017 when the singles from evolve were inescapable but I’ve matured since then and don’t feel the same way anymore. I think Night Visions is a great album (though Demons is not good imo) and their newest one was surprisingly solid, plus unlike those other crap bands you mentioned the guys in imagine Dragons actually good people and Dan Reynolds gets a big thumbs up from me for supporting the LGBT community:)
So no they definitely don’t deserve the hate
