I realize this is an old video & so don't know if you will see this. Regarding your collection of books still in New York, I recommend looking into having them shipped surface. My husband is a British immigrant to Canada & we discovered that it was a lot more reasonable to ship his things this way than one might assume, because you pay by volume rather than weight.
What a valuable tip! Writing down or journaling right after finishing a book can help us remember the book. So often I read a book and love it, but can’t recall why or how it ends 😆
I know you already made a podcast episode about it, but you should consider making a video on Persephone books! I actually first discovered them through Tea & Tattle and now I'm obsessed! Also, I so agree with your comment about making time to read. Because I read quite a bit people assume I'm a quick reader but I'm actually a pretty slow reader, I just devote a lot of time to reading. If I only read on my commute I would probably only finish a book a month at the very most.
I'm sure I'll be making quite a few videos on Persephone Books - they're definitely on my list to film at some point! I agree it's so important to carve out specific time to read xxx
Can I be a book nerd if I've decluttered most of my books? LOL! I track my reading via Goodreads. Sometimes I feel as if I"m rushing through a book in order to mark it as "read", but I often find that I can't recall very much about the book. As such, I am trying to slow down and savor a book rather than treat reading like a competitive sport.
Lovely to see all your answers Miranda! Many are very similar to what my own would be, I definitely agree about the lending, I sometimes buy a copy for someone if I think they would love it rather than lend my own. Also agree about not marking books! I am usually too impatient for new books to be released and have to get them right away , although I was late in discovering The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden so will now enjoy reading all of them one after the other! 🥰📚💖
Oh thank you for reminding me of the Katherine Arden books - they're on my shelf waiting to be read! I too will buy someone a book rather than lending it to them! xxx
My favourite series is the Fogas series by Julia Stagg (Startin with "L'Auberge). They really helped me to handle that lockdown here in Germany much better. The books take place in the Pyrenees in France and are really wonderful reads, that I highly recommend.
Hi Miranda! I just love your videos! I subbed to your podcast, but am I missing something?? I don't see a current listing. Last one was July? I am just making sure I am where I should be to listen to your podcast. I might have to do a video of this tag as it was so fun! Thanks!!
Great video Miranda...I have become more persnickety about my book buying as I have uhhh matured, preferring hardbacks and beautiful covers. I too cringe at marks in books. Have you read any Robert Macfarlane books? I love his use of language in describing the natural world.
'Underland' is on my tbr pile - I'm looking forward to getting to it! I think more and more beautiful books are being published these days - publishers are taking real care with the covers - which is wonderful for people like us :) xxx

I would love to hear your recommendations for nature reads :) Thanks for another lovely video!
That would be a fun video to film sometime! xxx

This was a fun tag, Miranda! And I hope we get a peak at your vintage book shelf in a future video. 😍
Thanks Leah! I'd like to have tidier shelves before doing a tour, but we'll see....! xxx
I miss your podcasts & am happy you’re now on UA-cam.
oh thank you! The new season of the podcast is starting on Tuesday!
