That was a lovely chronicle of your RSD. You had much better weather for it than I did in the North of England although I didn't get too wet. You made some nice choices especially the Pixies and Pearl Jam both of which I now wish I'd purchased. I've only just discovered your channel this morning. I look forward to watching your other videos, beer and vinyl records are a great combination. You've got my sub, cheers Mike👍
Thank you for your kind words Mike. It WAS. A lovely day and several degrees warmer than this past week! Its unsessonal bone cold despite the Sunshine. They had an amazing amount of RSD records on offer, specially considering it being essentially a used records/games/comics shop. Unlike my experiences in Norway and Sweden they also had some UK RSD titles, maybe it was just this year being different, usually I’ve had to go on rough trade to get any of those. There will be a bit of a dip in new music postings but by the end lf May I hope to post several as there are records up in Norway friends of mine have picked up at the postoffice while I’ve been here in li’ll old Denmark. Thank you again, and cheers Morten 😊
I loved the opening on this as we got to go to RSD with you, very interesting and a lot of fun. That was also the biggest set of keys I have ever seen, wow. That has to be heavy to carry around. Wonderful group of albums. Glad you got your Pearl Jam album. I did not grab that one but focused more on the psych rock and punk albums that came out. Enjoyed your video
Thank you for your kind words Steve! Yeah, those keys… mix of flat/work in Oslo, my home here in Denmark, bicykles, a friends place in Sweden, backup keys for my brother and several beer bottleopeners! 😆 Yes very happy about the PJ album. It was offered very briefly on clear vinyl at the Pearl Jam members club but was sold out very quickly. I’m also very pleased that I took a chance and grabbed that Yes live album. I have only Yes on CD so far and I don’t think I’d get something as nice as that if not for Record Store Day! If my pockets had been a bit deeper this time around I may have explored some of your avenues as well. And I would really really love to get thay Dirty Projects and Björk album. The Joe Strummer album you showed, gorgeous, even though I own a very recent CD. Miles I’d love to get. Speaking of Denmark and Psych rock, heard the short lived band Steppeulvene (Step Wolves, named from the same book as Steppenwolves)? If not, could be a fun little one way street for you to look into 😊
I just discovered your channel and subbed you up! Thanks for sharing the great music info, I mainly talk rock vinyl on my channel and had a crazy RSD, thanks again, Rock On!
Thank you Mike! That’s so nice of you. RSD this year did not suck at all, they managed to make us spend spend again didn’t they? He he. I hit the subscribe, don’t inspire me to buy even more records please! 😆
Thanks! There were some starkingly steep price differences. 3 LP Yes live album costing nearly half of a 4 LP Van Halen LP. I didn’t have Van Halen on my list anyhow. But as it is, strong Danish krone not withstanding, the prices here were clearly lower than those in Norway and UK websited lile Rough Trsde. Yes was a late arrival to the party and my only «regrets» were missing out on Pixies (again, found out it was really expensive), Beggars Banquette and Travis live in Edinburgh.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I love Travis. Seen them twice in Oslo. The vinyl on the new Beggars looked really nice, but I don’t like historical revisionism and preffer the old invite cover. Btw, drumroll! My 1994 Virgin collection became complete today with the arrival lf It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll and Emotional Rescue! Tattoo You despite ordered 2 weeks later beat them by a week. I might upload a tiny unboxing with a tempered rant about Danish customs post Brexit.
@@MortenAastad Congratulations - that's fantastic. I love IORR. I remember buying it the day it came out. Time Waits For No One is probably my #1 Stones go to song. And ER is a great listen as well and underrated in my opinion. Enjoy.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Thank you. ER was always a favorite of mine. It helped that I in 1980 was a little kid who had no one to tell me it wasn’t as good as others. My absolute favorite on IORR is Fingerprint File. Such an amazingly different Stones song. Like how different the album Undercover was 10 years later.
Are you using a helmet GoPro for these videos? They really did a good job shining up the railway station square compared to when I used to work there. The one timeI visited Læsehesten in Aalborg, it was kind of a cool and intriguing but alse bewildering and intimidating experience with all those small compartments that the shop consists of. I have one 10" record, but I could only find 10" outer and inner sleeves in packets on ten, so now I have to buy nine more 10" vinyl :/ I remember 'Red Rose Speedway' from when I was a kid. I think me dad still has it.
The square has really been upgraded and look very nice now. I love that you can take your bike under the mainroad and come up at the square with an elevator! No, I just held my camera (phone) by hand. I had 1 before this. A very worn Tear for Fears. I have a couple more now, I won one (not VCLT) from a VC (?) person (a rsd record from this event) and this fall I got two 10’’ by the Rolling Stones. My OG of Red Rose Speedway is one of my dearest records, it’s in such a great shape and I love that book inside it.
I went to Utrecht in the Netherlands for RSD. I went over two and a half hours after shop opened. I go to the record store literally every weekend so it’s not unusual just the shop was obviously more crowded. But I had a hunch like last year the Pixies would be still there. And I was correct. Was a few copies of the Pixies live, the ten inch and Frank Black. So got them all. A couple of titles I did not see but if I’d bought them it would of been another 100 for two albums . Expensive day and it’s mostly live, demos and reissues. Nobody puts a brand new album out for this day. Also I’m not an expert but what I mostly see online is black wax or clear is actually the best sounding vinyl out there. I find personally that colour vinyl seems to have more surface noise than regular black. So it seems like putting out these fancy bright colours is just a marketing gimmick to attract newbies who are not really clued up. Anyway enjoy yr records. I’m still to play the Frank Black disc. I love his stuff more than hearing yet another live version of Debaser or Gouge Away
I agree it can be a bit «samey» and for sure tons of live stuff. But I love taking part in the event. Some artists I will buy more or less anything they release so it can get a bit expensive when too many of those artists release stuff at the same RSD event! I still hope to get the Pixies Bruxelles, Travis and perhaps Dirty Projects/Björk, but we’ll see.
Great to see the Vinyl culture alive in Denmark. Lovely to get an idea of what other cities in the world look like. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching. Look forward to following your adventures in Vinylania 😊
