Thanks for the sharing, George and Tom. This interview covered important info tesla owners need to know when it comes to accident, repairing, and insurance choice. This is informative and helpful!
Thanks so much for doing this Tom. I was looking for info about insurance but it seems difficult to find out unless you're asking actual repairers. I'm under 25, so adding choice of repairer for my model 3 adds a decent amount to my bill, but it seems to be worth doing so regardless. Really appreciate all of the informative videos, they helped me make my decision a couple of months ago and have provided me with so much useful information during ownership
My NRMA policy has this about glass - I took it to mean it covers the roof but maybe not? Windscreen cover which allows you to make a claim, without paying your basic excess if your windscreen, sunroof or window glass is damaged
I called nrma and they said that the definition of sunroof includes moon roof and panoramic roof so all glass is covered under glass insurance but more often than not if the roof glass is damaged like from hail other parts of the car are damaged and people will choose to fix everything and thus have to make a claim. However you can choose to only get the glass fixed which would be an excess free claim. At least that’s with nrma glass protection
It seems like service with this body shop is great!! What about when we need to get a service that isn’t related to a crash? I have seen heaps of recent videos (mind you they are al from overseas) talking about how bad Tesla service is, long wait times to go into the service centre/cancelling/rescheduling heaps. What’s it like here in Aus? If you live far away from Sydney can you go to an authorised body shop to get a service? What is the quality of service from Tesla Service Centres here in Aus?
Hi Tom, great video. M3SR ordered in Jan, apparently on the way and will have it in March in Brisbane. Binge watching your videos right now. 😂. You are doing great work mate!!! Question: if the car is a write off, what happens to the FSD? Does it get transferred to my new Tesla?
Question: If you;re involved in a accident where someone runs into, you but they driver off without having to exchange details, but the cameras on the car record the event, what happens to the insurance claim with the at fault poilicy and how would the insurance companies, pay out on this?
Having been through this situation personally, even if there is clear footage of the event including the other car’s number plate, NSW police still need to track down the other party’s details (phone number, address) before the insurance company will deem it as a not-at-fault claim. This can take some time (sometimes a few months) before the police can obtain the details
just a question, if you have an afterarket lightbar on the front of the tesla that is controlled primarily from the 12 Volt Battery for use on high beam, and the car is involved in a front end collision, would this void the insurance claim and would it void the tesla warranty?
I would declare the extra modification with your insurance company. With any modification, the general advice is that there is always a risk that Tesla may not warrant any apparent defect associated with the original feature
That comment regarding regen and brake lights that George made is incorrect as the tail lights on the car on-screen the brake lights come on. Would be good if you could confirm the situation Tesla Tom.
@@LudicrousFeed thanks because that's a major safety issue if they didn't come on under regen braking. Next time I'm out with friends I can test but people in the know should be correct their information. I've had a work college who had ordered a LR scared after hearing this on here.

It's my absolute pleasure and I'm glad my videos have been helpful!
Tom loved this chat with George. So informative and will be watching out for you guys next month. Great stream.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂👍
Great tips.
🙂👍
The model Y glass roof is one independent piece the windshield and the back glass are separate as well, so 3 sections.
Thanks Harrison!
I wanted to ask - for a friend, you understand… - are there any issues repainting over any of the DIY “ceramic” polishes such as Mothers?
My NRMA policy has this about glass - I took it to mean it covers the roof but maybe not?
Windscreen cover which allows you to make a claim,
without paying your basic excess if your windscreen,
sunroof or window glass is damaged
We may have to query each individual policy to clarify …

Ok that's good to know. Appreciate you making the enquiries and sharing! 👍🙂

I can speak for the Sydney experience - both Alexandria and Chatswood Service Centres have been excellent each time I've needed them 👍

Nice, thanks! I suggest adding FSD (if you purchase it) to your insurance premium
Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Hi, Tom , best to your knowledge how many Tesla repairers in Sydney ?
Looking at the Tesla website there seems to be 4 in Sydney
Great video Tom and George.
Would George get ppf or ceramic on his upcoming Tesla?
Good question!
That comment regarding regen and brake lights that George made is incorrect as the tail lights on the car on-screen the brake lights come on. Would be good if you could confirm the situation Tesla Tom.
I’ll discuss with George next time I see him - I was also under the impression that the brake lights come on with regen braking
