CLIMPING DISASTER 31-10-23

  • For weeks i have been trying to fly the drone over what's left of Clymping.
Sunday i had a thirty minute window as the wind had dropped to around 20mph . So went for it. .
I'm sure most people will be shocked at how quickly Clymping is being over run by the English Channel. What plans have Arun District Council made for when the sea breaches for good ?

@woodburnjs1 Thank you for your kind words, over the past four years or so i have been filming the destruction of our once green fields for development, all posted on our You Tube page, i'm afraid that's all we will have memories

Soon all there will be is memories of what once was! Your documenting history here, well done.
Like you say heartbreaking for those who will lose their homes.

@novaharris9312, Documenting history is spot on, soon their will be no fields and no local beach, all the things promised by developers to prise people from London are being built on . Utter disgrace

@justinefleming7756 Hi mate, thank you so much for posting, it's so sad you had to move away, but just proves NON of the houses being thrown up are affordable to local people, plus they are building on flood plains, that's another story , the whole area at the moment is flooded, and yet they want to build more houses, i will hopefully be filming after the storm but it all depends on the flooding , also check out our other video's some may shock you at the land being taken . John

Thank you for doing your video, the people of Clymping have been trying to get help from the Environment Agency for more permanent environmental solutions rather piling up shael stones which has changed local wildlife habitats and will be dragged by the sea and cause problems further along the coast.

@deedeedoes818 Thank you for posting, to me it just seems a sticking plaster, even normal high tides drag the shingle round to the harbour, without doubt the sea will again breach the bunds, we have just released another video ua-cam.com/video/D2hnYw8h590/v-deo.html it really shows what a disaster Clymping beach has become.

@happymonday77 thank you for commenting, i was down there yesterday day 05-11-23 and the whole beach has reshaped again, it has even uncovered some footings of a house washed away hundreds of years a go

@justinefleming7756 Your welcome, the sea has breached Climping again and the street is flooded, a drone is an excellent way of showing the true damage

@phillipdridge9775 Arun District Council seemed to think it wouldn't happen on their watch, obviously they don't have an emergency plan

Thanks for posting this video. Unfortunately mother nature will always win in the long term. Just building defences using gravel is not the way forward. In late 1980s I saw in North Cornwall a large storm remove all the sand from all the beaches from Treverse Head to Hartland. Then the following day put it all back. That amounted to millions of tonnes of sand.
If one wants to attempt to prevent erosion solid concrete barriers are the way forward. Yes very expensive but how much do we value people rights to live where they do.

@bikiniboy1 sorry for late reply, i'm afraid the sea defence funding has been withdrawn and looks like the shingle id just a sticking plaster, i believe the plan is to let the sea take the fields and lowlands so it reshapes back to a salt marsh good for wild life but not good for the poor buggers that will lose their houses , thanks for posting

It’s so sad. I can’t imagine what those poor people are going through. This should have been thought about decades ago surely ? It’s hard to stop nature though … especially when nature has been changed by man ….

    • @JOHNMONO
      @JOHNMONO  8 місяців тому

@sukimorys494 the whole thing is a disgrace, The local council ADC estimated this wouldn't happen until 2035, WRONG ! The sea will surely breach , the last breach was a few years ago and actually reached the main A259 road as far as i know there is NO plan in place for when not if that happens, thank you for posting

It most certainly IS a disaster!
The place looks like a war-zone.
And huge areas of land have now vanished underwater!

@4utosparks, if you mean save climping from the sea , i don't know, the last i heard was a local councillor was fighting for them, then the trail goes cold. I'll have a word with one of the residents i know and post on here
