Plaese do a comparison for ccm ft4 pro vs bauer hyperlite.
Seen this come up a lot! If this comment gets lots of likes... We'll do it! ;)
I wonder if the unreleased CCM ribcor 100k skates would make for a better comparison. Both the ribcor and vapor lines of skates seem to be marketed as agility type skates I think.
@@ByronLee403 That's cuz Bauer doesn't have a super soft skate like the Ribcor. The stiffness of Vapor skates is quite similar to JetSpeeds, not Ribcors.
@@ByronLee403 … Ribcore & Vapor are more similar in their stick lines. For skates the Jetspeed is gonna be more comparable too vapor than Ribcore is.
@Paulis Paegle … right off the bat the biggest differences I see in the 2 skates is the boot construction & price. The Jetspeed like it has since the FT1 is going to be a true 1 piece boot w/ no outsole. For some reason Bauer is yet to try to make a skate that is a 1 piece to try to match CCM & True (who both go w/ 1 piece design & have been seemingly making gains over Bauer in the market share). Now the new bauer outsole seems to be really nice, but I’m not sure if it will give you as nice of a feeling as a true 1 piece & their was no outsole
Then there is price. Both skates will retail at $999. However as this video mentioned, the Hyperlites come w/ a plastic blade & you get to choose from 3 choices which steel you want. What I didn’t see mentioned in this video is that whatever steel you pick is gonna be an extra cost to that $999. The cheapest option I believe is like $80, the 2nd option is like $120, & from what I’ve heard that new carbon steel costs a ridiculous $250. So the Hyperlite skates are gonna cost anywhere from around $1080-1250 plus tax where the FT4 pros will be $999 plus tax.
Too be clear, I’ve always been a Bauer skate guy, & I think the look of these new vapors is filthy (like their look better than the FT4’s). However the increase in pricing b/c of the blades plus the fact that they don’t make a 1 piece boot (where CCM offers a 1 piece boot in both the FT4 pro & the model below it) just appears very lazy & greedy by Bauer to me. All the major brands are raising their prices, but it appears to me that Bauer is giving you less bang for your buck w/ their new offerings.
I've been watching this guy for like 6 or 7 years he deserves way more than 157k subscribers very good at detailed reviews very professional
The colour reminds me of the vapors of old 👊
Big Nike Bauer XXXX vibes
Another great video Chris. I’m from Canada I I rely on this channel for all new gear updates. You guys have the best breakdowns and comparisons. Great work
Thank you so much !
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial great job! I agree.
id love the styling of the old 1x s15s or s17s to come back honestly they were badass
I remember in your other video , you pointed out the stitched logo was a drawback for the Bauer skate. I guess they listened to you! Great job Chris
It’s probably cheaper to make and IMO it looks better.
As always spot on mate.
Great job Chris. Really looking forward to that Hyperlite vs Ultrasonic review. Looks like Bauer’s gonna be staggering their releases between the two lines for awhile.
They’ve always staggered the releases between their multiple lines (at least for the last decade when I’ve paid attention). Same w/ CCM. I guess it wouldn’t be as important to stagger the releases at Bauer now that they offer the Fit 1, 2, or 3 profile so you can get the same fit regardless of if you go w/ vapor or supreme. However I Imagine they’ll still continue to stagger their releases for marketing purposes so that they always have something new in the pipeline that they can hype up. As a player though it would be nice if everything came out in the summer before the fall season & players could make their choices then instead of 1 line coming out in the summer & the other coming out in fall/winter once the main season has already started.
No idea whats up with UA-cam but I haven't been seeing anything from HT, almost though you stopped making videos, glad thats not the case love the channel
love your vids keep going up :3
Thank you! Big love
Thanks for the in depth comparison. I will buy a pair of hyper lites !!
Personally I'd got for the FT4 Pro over the HyperLites any day (I'm not a CCM fanboy in any way, my past 4 pairs of skates were Bauer, it just happens that the Supreme line fits my feet perfectly).
Reasons I'd get FT4 Pros over HyperLites:
1. One piece boot - the HyperLites still don't have a one piece boot, whereas the FT4 Pros doo.
2. Aesthetics - the HyperLites look terrible in my opinion; I much prefer the look of the FT4 Pros
3. Blade holder - CCM's XS blade holders are better than Bauer's Tuuk LiteSpeed ones. It's not a make or break situation, just a nice to have.
@@louiefriesen thanks for this. I will look into it more. But i dont mind the look of these hypers
I see Bauer is incorporating into its skates what Easton had in its mid range s11 skates, 15 years ago, asymmetrical toe, foam in the tongue, one piece composite, flexible tendon cover, stainless steel eyelets, ( bauers saving that for next year). $200 dollar skates. Lasted 10 years twice a week games.
830 grams. I can't find any skates as light. And that had memory foam around the ankles. Good review 👍
Picked them up yesterday, have to say: they’re really worth every penny. Huge change.
Seems like the biggest change came with the new runners. I’d imagine they will eventually sell them separately to be able to put on the 2XPros so I don’t see it as an increase from one skate to another. I used the pulse ti blades for several months and honestly was not impressed, it didn’t hold an edge as well as I’d expected. They seemed to shutter occasionally while stopping or making tight turns compared to my previous runner. Switching to the LS5 carbon runners felt significantly better and I felt like I had more confidence on my edges. I’d love to know what percentage this new runner saves in weight relative to the skate as a whole. Not sure I even saw the specs of how much lighter these skates actually are than the 2xpros in grams or a percentage; you would think that would be important info.
The outsole seems extremely gimmicky to me and shows Bauer really doesn’t know what direction to move in terms of rigidity vs agility. The concept of force in to force out made sense to me. You don’t want to lose power through flexible, mushy material which is likely what you’re doing with these outsoles and contradicts the philosophy behind the 2XPro outsole. I’d rather have force through the foot translate directly to the runner/ice.
I’d love to see some kind of slow mo of these flexible lace guides actually working because in my mind I don’t see how they flex if they are attached to an inflexible, ridged boot but maybe I’m wrong.
Biggest takeaway as a whole is that it seems like we are nearing the limit of tech/performance from model to model because the differences are almost negligible and likely completely unnoticeable. I’d love a test of someone blindfolded to see if they could actually pick out the difference from one skate to the other based on feel because I’m sure it would be difficult. Any noticeable difference is likely more mental thinking you are wearing a better product than an actual increase in performance though better technology. I can’t see these being worth the $1000 to move on from 2Xpros but probably worth it to upgrade from much earlier models that are 5+ years outdated.
Man thats a long opinion with no evidence to back it up
It’s interesting that the height of the plastic blade mimics the Step Steel but side by side the Bauer blades are not as high.
Also they've moved from the x rib pattern that vapours have been known for
reading a lot of comments on social media that people don't like the new styling- personally i love it, looks better than the 2x Pro, IMO
Honestly both of them look amazing because I’d love to have either one. So expensive though
I think these look way better than the 2x pros!!! I wasn’t a fan of the 2x pro look. They looked like 1/2 a vapor skate & 1/2 a supreme skate to me. The back 1/2 of the boot had traditional vapor color & design & the front looked more like a supreme w/ it’s coloring.
Sounds like Bauer is going after the same concept as the Marsblades, where there is increased contact of the runner to the ice by making the outsole more dynamic. It would be interesting to see how the recoil effect of the outsole would have on stability and energy transfer, though. I'm also curious as to what effects of a more dynamic outsole would have on the runner's structural integrity over time.
Yeah but Mars blades work and these don’t
Chris, can you simply weigh the hyperlite skate (no runner) and compare to the 2x Pros (no runner)?
I just got a pair of 2X pro skates. They were #88 of the Maple Leafs skates. Size 6.5. A touch big since I wear a 6 but I couldn’t resist getting the sick Nylander skates. Only paid $650 US. I know a dealer said he would sell Nylander skates for $2,000. They said I’m crazy for playing hockey in them. I just want a killer skate, no a collector. ✌🏽
How does that number system work? I found a pair with #96 on them. What does that mean?
Wonder how durable a "2 piece" runner would be
Hello, I'm new to ice hockey and would like to know which is the cheap and good option on equipments to buy (Skates, stick, guards and gloves.) please suggest.. Thanks in advance!!!!
can you do the sticks
I am faced with the dilemma of which model to choose. Bauer 1x from 2017 or bauer vapor 2x. Which model would you choose?
I have speed plate 2.0 and ls5 inserts from my previous skates that I want to use on my new skates.
Can you do a video on true new custom skates please?
before watching this video i was considering buying the 2x pro´s. well 800 bucks later im now a very happy owner of the new flyliytes :D
Sick!
Which skate would be faster in a straight line: CCM Jetspeed or Bauer HyperLite?
what the actual weight of the new Hyperlite ?
Please co.pare Hyper lite stick and AX9 or Project X
How do I get a hold of the custom Jersey
Whats the price on these?
Heeey love your videos, do you know if they will do it for roller?? And would be cool if you do a video with the best roller skates
We'll see what's possible but hard because we don't have many rollers players in my city (not sure if we have any at all)
They're usually producing Roller Hockey skates too but later in the release year
You didn’t say about geometry, about asymmetric sides in 2x and about hight of sides of both.
Interesting to see how the new outsole feels. my custom 2x pros have barely seen ice time thanks to covid do you/anyone know if you'll be able to pick up the different blades separately?
You should be able to buy just the blades! From what our rep was telling us (given this was north of 5 months ago) the carbon steel will have a hefty price of $250 USD, but we will see if that has changed
Need the top 2 models have a one piece boot like CCM
when is CCM 100K pro review coming up?!
,,👍
Also remember the 35% weight savings is most important at the full extension of your stride. It will remove weight on the return an speed up foot movement. Also should feel better direction change with less mass in motion at the ice contact point
So glad you get it. Massive upgrade!
Yeah great point but all that aside it’s not available in the uk so kind of a sore upgrade point 🤷♀️
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial Step Black Steel vs Pulse TI?
LOL, even with these new, innovative high-tech changes, I'll bet I STILL can't skate backwards worth a sh**! 😂
I usually have supreme skates can I get the new vapor in my fit without ordering custom skates
Yes.Top end Vapor and Supreme both come in fit 1, 2 and 3.
does this new blade work in the sparxs skate sharper?
Any word on why the x-ribs are gone?
what is the price of the skates?
Composite runner? What is this? CCM 10 years ago??
Nice
Ccm jetspeed ft4 vs bauer vapor hyperlite
What about fits?
please male a 2x pro vs 3x pro i need to know thanks.
I own 2x pros not sure the improvements are worth changing
Just bought hyperlites tho
I just got 2x pros. And im kinda disappointed. They are customs and still a bit big. Also they just seem super heavy. I probably shouldve waited for the hyperlites cause i want something lighter. I dont know how i feel about the color way tho. Kinda looks like too much white. And white skates are weird. I know you can custom tho lol wonder what the green will look like. But i think I'm out of the skating shopping for a while with my 2x customs.
-How is this bauer DLC steel rated in comparison to STEP Steel Black?
-Bauer should’ve made a deal with STEP instead of having the 3 choices in runners… You can have cream of the crop already to go.
it really hasnt been that long since bauer tried to do this with their steel. in the recent past we had the LS Fusion. You are correct in saying they werent stiff enough, but really they werent a hit because they had massive durability issues. the metals would separate right down the middle. Its no secret: its very difficult to keep another material fused to steel, especially under load. Hopefully bauer gets it right this time, but It would probably be smart to wait like 6-12 months and let other people be the lab rats.
Bauer have tried the two piece blade previously on the apx2 skates. They were terrible. Broke and bent often. Can't see how this will be any different. Gimmick. Stick to Step Steel and you can't go wrong.
They look sick, I predict these are going to be all over the nhl
👍
I honestly think this steel is a gimmick yes it’s lighter however that steel will flex and bend for heavy set people and there’s less steal on the blade so less life
I don’t see how that’s an upgrade just because it’s 10 grams lighter
carbon fiber is 10x stronger than steel
Can’t you just buy an LS carbon lite blade for your 2x pros?
Yeah you can. The 2xpro’s have the same Tuuk holder as the hyperlites so any steel that fits 1 will fit the other.
hyperflex facing: only gives you better foward flex, doesnt give you better wrap nor more lateral stability
runners: yes, but the only difference i feel between the ls pulse ti (ive used them) and the ls1 is that the ls pulse ti was taller and more of a pain in the butt to remove and put in
No more x ribs?..
Looks like the x:60
What is the difference in weight between the skates?
I weighed both the 2x pro and the hyperlite with the runners removed and the weight was essentially the same.
Should I subscribe and give a thumbs up? You need to make this clearer. 🙂 As usual, this is a very good breakdown of the skates. I suspect I’m not alone in wondering if the new carbon + steel blades are durable. How the hell do they bond them? My Apple watch had the crystal (glass) glued onto the case, it fell off and was replaced under warranty twice. Then again, I have sweat like the creature from the Alien film.
Please do me a favor. What is total skate weight of ccm ft4 pro with blacksteel compared to hyperlite skate with carbon lite steel
We’ll check this on Tuesday. Look for an update on our Instagram
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial What were the weights of hyper vs 100k vs ft4
Hey chris,i have a somewhat of a long question about skates,if you could answer it should i write it here or is there an email that i can write to ?
Go ask on the hockeyplayers Reddit
Should have just asked ;)
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial well its a long one but in short i have used vapor for a long time, got bunions in my country there are no hockey shops,i tried supreme s29 and as1 skates briefly for couple of munites, borrowed them from my friend,i am a student so finally after gathering enough money i go to ukrain, thought the supreme line would be enough,i put it on bauer 3s FİT2 for a couple of munites and i thought they wouldnt hurt so i had to go back before i could find a rink.İ get back and i skate and they hurt, after a lot of skating and 2 weeks, they still do,so i was wondering if ccm is much more comfortable the supertacks line ? And how stiff is the 9380 i know 175 index but how that differs compared to like 9080 skates or so ?
And the biggest problem;i baked my vapor 4.0's and the right one started leaning on its inside edge,i baked the 3s aswell and this one is the same but this time i didnt do anything just waited for 10 munites and the guy told me to walk like take little steps and i did and i dont understand what exactly caused it to do that, any way i can make sure ?
Not a fan of the look at all. Much prefer the 1x Pro
For 1,000 I think u should get some steel with ur new wheels no?
This may have changed but most Bauer players that I know have swapped out the manufacturers blade for Step. Just to add to this I was an early adopter to Step Steel. My skate guy Pat, who’s done a lot of NHL players and ironically Olympic snowboarder Mark Mcmorris’ skates put them on my U+. He’s put all kinds of blades on my skates as demos. The Step are the only blade that I’ve noticed an immediate impact and swear by them no matter what skate I play with. That happens to be CCM Jetspeed... for now.
Me!
I wish I got paid to play beer league, id be such a Hype Beast lol
Not a fan. Going ccm ft4
Any news on price for these hyper lights?
I just picked up a pair today spent 1178$ 😭🤣

@@6thstringtender921 just got the Supreme adv stick a few weeks ago its insane check it out if you get a chance its just the bauer Supreme adv not the nexus adv
@@xxthespazzxxn I’ve thought about buying and reselling stuff but I don’t wanna loose my “privilege” to make a few bucks hahah
Would I be able to buy these at pure hockey or are they not out yet
Everything will be available on 6/26. You can purchase the blades separately and the carbon one will be around $200-$250. I bought a new twig today and Pure had a display out already
When you’re done with all of your bad ash and informative videos and reviews, can you send me the Hyperlite skates 😁
Don’t buy carbon blades. You only get about 5 sharpens before you have to buy new ones
aerolite tongue: it sucks, it doesnt give better flex (cause it has a piece of plastic is it, gosh, WHAT a surprise) and its uncomfortable, felt is much better
Каждый раз всё легче и легче, все новее и новее и в итоге и тяжелее и хуже 1 х 15 года)
$999 for just a boot w/ no blades. Then it’s either $80, $120, or a ridiculous $250 more for the steel depending on which 1 you choose. With CCM you get a 1 piece boot for $999. CCM is much better bang for your buck.
Some people’s feet fit Bauer better and also a one piece boot makes little to no difference
@@YeetMiskeet …yeah I’m 1 of those people. Every ccm skate feels awful on my foot out of the box, where any Bauer skate feels comfortable enough out of the box that I have confidence I could break it in & wear it.
But that doesn’t mean that ccm isn’t offering more for your $ currently. There’s the 1 piece boot, which I definitely wouldn’t say “it makes little to no difference”. Removing the outsole & the glue & nails that hold it to the boot removes weight & allows the energy your foot produces to flow more efficiently. Just a better energy transfer overall & provides a better feel for the ice. Bauer’s new steel is also nice, but since ccm bought step steel I’d still prefer that as it’s the more established name & has a better background for providing quality steel.
Not saying Bauer doesn’t make good skates b/c they do, but there’s no reason Bauer’s top of the line skate should cost $100-250 more than CCM’s top of the line when ccm is technically packing better tech into their skates.
There's no way the carbon lite blade is going to be any good. The MX3 fusion blades were trash so my hopes are not high for these
Dont get it. My boss laughed at the idea when bauer showed it months ago. The blade isnt worth 250$ especially when the blade is steel and not even polished or dlc
Yeah the fusion steel w/ the carbon inserts was so awful that they just used it for that 1 season (for the APX 2’s, the MX3, & the Nexus 8000’s). The durability on them was absolutely terrible, which could also be an issue here. But even if they’ve fixed the durability part, $250 is just a ridiculous price point & so much higher than anything else on the market. At $250 they better be unbreakable.
I did get an up close looks at the carbon lite blades a few weeks ago. They do look a lot nicer than the old fusion blades. I didn’t notice a big weight difference between the Fusion steel & Bauer’s other steel’s at the time (even though they said it was 30% lighter). Plus the fusions were really not durable at all.
So the carbon lites are definitely noticeably lighter than any other steel when holding them in your hand (not sure how mug of a difference you feel w/ them actually in your skates tho). They also have a composite spine on them that seems to make them more durable (at least more durable than fusions).
However w/ 1/2 the blade being composite their isnt actually a lot of steel on them at all. Like if you get them sharpened once a week or once every other week they’re not gonna last much more than one season. At $250 that’s just not worth it to me
Good old technologies coming back. Rocket runners from Ccm ;)
Never speak that name haha!! Rocket runners LOL!! good old days
problem with outsole: it DOESNT feel any different, ive used both the ultrasonics and hyperlites, the outsole FEELS THE SAME ON BOTH SKATES, these outsoles are just marketing gimmicks bauer makes so that influencers like you can talk for 6 minutes and get customers, how about USING the skates first before you say the outsole will definitely help?
They look so cool but are they just all hype
That’s why their called HYPErlite🥸
I hated the 2X the Hyperlites to me are WAY better
Don't worry about weight, it's a losing game. Durability before anything else. Get back to basics, focus on durability, reliability. Do not go too stiff, also. Things have gotten REALLY stupid and uber stupid-hyped in the past decade. Go back to a future. "Made in China"........., GFY!!!!
2x pros look way better
Nah I like the white more looks sick.
@@connerhockey2540 same
Yeah
XS > Tuuk
Let's be honest, Bauer really be making the vapor line worse and worse looking every generation... Bring us back the 1x lite !!
The carbon blade is a gimmick, no pro will use it. Like they used Al last time. I like the new color, but I was used to have the vapor silver and red, like the supreme was blue, the supreme became gold, really nice, BUT the vapor silver and lime.... The outsole is also a gimmick, the x-rib is gone, the new lacing looks also gimmicky... I am a Bauer fan, but I think Bauer is failing. I don't see any pros using the new Vapor, using Hyperlite graphics, yes, but this skate... nope.
The construction is bs. If your bag has wheels, you probably don’t!!
Gimmicky as hell…
I have mixed feelings on the top of the line skates. Coming with NO blade is legit the dumbest thing Ive ever heard of, immediately makes me think their marketing dept took over and came up with ways to make more money...hell you wouldnt buy a new carbon MTN bike for $7000 w/out wheels wld you? But I do understand at that price point you shld know what you want and can customize whatever blades. But they still shld be throwing in at least their basic LS blades (or whatever the co offers)
Extremely hyper. Lots if hyper every upgrade is hyper. Marketing genius
its just commercial for people to buy it nothing more if youre abad skater good and expensive pair of skates wont make you a better skater, simple as that...
Очередная бутылка из под кока колы за 1000$+

Not a good vid tbh, not going deep into the differences.
Garbage eyelets.
Very ugly skates IMO
I’m sorry. These look awful
