The way we come into this world is no accident. You, me, and everyone else are hand crafted by God to accomplish a specific mission that he has prepared. In today’s world the problem of self-rejection has grown to a massive proportion. We see it everywhere we go today whether it be with gender or physical features, has even grown to the point where our adults are forcing this ideology on children before they are mature enough to make life altering decisions. To reject our design would be to say that God is incompetent and messed up. If we that were possible, he would not be a God worth worshiping at all.
King David understood this fact very well when he wrote Psalms 139:14-16 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” King David has self-acceptance because he understood that God made him exactly how he needed to, to accomplish the mission set before him by God.
With the rise of gender rejection, we also see a rise in suicide attempts. The more our culture rejects its original design the greater the mental decline and increase of depression. A study out of UCLA found that 81% of transgender adults in the US have thought about suicide, 42% of transgender adults have attempted it, and 56% have engaged in non-suicidal self-injury over their lifetimes. A study out of Newport Academy shows that LGBTQ+ youth are considering suicide four times greater than non-LGBTQ+ youth.
If we could understand that we are our own masterpiece and accept our original design, we could save lives! Paul spoke about this in Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” God made no mistake, and we should accept our designed accomplish the mission that you were designed for. Paul had an imperfection himself, the exact part of him that was troubled isn’t explicitly said but the lesson around It is the intention. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 “or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”. Another passage that shows how God can shine in weakness is John 9:1-3 “As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” Even if you think you are broken or crippled, Gods glory can be shown through you!
