"What President Bush does in the Oval Office when he's all alone" reminded me of a sketch Saturday Night Live did decades ago about President Reagan. When there were visitors, he would be his normal persona of a bumbling old man, but that was just a false front. Every time the visitors left, he would immediately become this brilliant, energized, scheming political leader: shouting complex orders to his staff, doing difficult math in his head before an aide can with a calculator, speaking fluently in multiple foreign languages on the phone with other world leaders, plotting various spy activities to undermine enemy nations, etc. At one point, they bring in the girl scout who won an award for selling the most cookies. As soon as she comes in the room he reverts to his befuddled old man persona, congratulates her and offers her some jellybeans. As soon as she's out, he immediately switches back to his "real" personality. I think it would have been funny if they had done something like this with President Bush. It's easy to go with the "he's stupid" idea, but it would have been interesting to go against expectations and have an unexpectedly smart Bush operating decisively behind the scenes, with the stupid persona merely a false front to throw off his political enemies and make them constantly underestimate him.
I don't know if it was on this taping, but Wayne actually did exactly that. He went like: "Ahh finally I can be myself!" - and mimicked to pull out classic books from a shelf. And then he went to the derpy retard when someone entered the room. It was absolutely hilarious and I dearly miss it in this video
