Pride abounds. I'm proud just because we share a country. You've clearly played the most important role in his life, leading him to the endless waters of music from the heart. He's a national treasure. He's a human treasure.
We saw Joey last night in Bristol, UK. It was a small pub gig, but one day soon he will be filling the Albert Hall. Totally spellbinding and magical music that filled the soul of all that were there. You could hear a pin drop, and sometimes in the silence, the sound of tears falling from the eyes of many who were lucky enough to be there.
I dig Joey's music, but let's not get carried away about it. Google "Kelly Joe Phelps" if you want to hear a genius. Sadly, he hasn't posted anything in ~5 years, and I can't find any information about what happened to him. I used to see him playing around Portland in the early 1990's, before became famous, and started touring the world. Kelly Joe Phelps got tendonitis, and had to take a break after his "Whale" recording,, but FIVE YEARS...? I don't mean to disrespect Joey Landreth's talent, but I'm sure he would agree there are other musicians he wished he could play like. Joey's definitely got talent, and plays from his heart - the kind of music I love listening too..!
That is such a dumb reason to post this... because he would “probably agree there people he wish he could play like”? Get real bro what a silly reason to try to justify your opinion and give an underhanded compliment. He’s a genius in his own right it doesn’t matter what someone else did in the 90’s 😂
Oh my son. You make such beautiful music.
Wallace Landreth, he's a special one.
A wonderful guitarist and singer. I watched his Andersons interview. Seems like a great bloke!
Awww, that is so sweet dad. If Joey were my son I'd be very proud too :-)

Oh shoot it's his actual dad!
God this session is still some of my favourite music of all time.

Kelly Joe Phelps was indeed a great artist in a similar vein to Joey. Very sadly KJP passed away in May 2022. A devastating loss to the world.
