- Mowing very dry & dusty grass in this lawn care vlog. 1st lawn care vlog of the season. Conditions are ridiculous right now. You could actually damage a yard right now if you mow it when it's too dry. But we have rain in the forecast so it's looking good.
I love the sound of crunching leaves in the fall,so relaxing.
That dust storm really makes a guy appreciate pretty green grass ! Mowed in 30 mph wind today ,. could have planted a garden in the bottom of my shower tonight ! LOL. Good video, thanks for sharing.
LOL! I too have clogged the drain from time to time. :)
Looking forward to the daily vlogs this season! There's just something about watching the lawn being cut and and taken care of.
Yea, there will be a bunch of them. Glad you're watching!
so excited to see you back! great luck to you this season!
Good job, well done !!!!, Thank you for a nice video !
Great Vlog & Footage Mike ......We are Dry Down here in Broward County Too ..... Only thing keeping my grass green are my sprinklers.... But Yes some people don't care what their lawn looks like and Understandable Though, Most People are working to make a Living and just don't have the Time.... Etc .... Again Great Footage... I Enjoyed that. :)
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
OK, that settles it. I am gonna wear a dust mask from now on when I watch your videos!! O was OK till the dust started flying! LOL
I had a lawn service back in the mid 90's and watching that dust fly brings back memories! Not good memories, just memories!! LOL
lol, I should post a warning at the beginning for people with allergies. :) I didn't you once had a lawn service. Cool. We have a lot in common.
I'm in south Florida, were experiencing drought conditions as well. love your real time video's, don't see them often. Boy do i miss Geek to Freak.
I try to show real time every time. If It's not on the main vlog, I try to follow it up with a real time version of the same yard.
I wish you posted more but I love your videos and I hope you keep making them
Those are the ones that make you pick out black boogies for days
lol
LOL
my dad is starting his lawn business very soon. i also live in florida, i just hope that it rains more in florida, so the grass will start looking more green.
Finally. I just asked about mowing videos yesterday
I filmed it last Thursday so I had the footage ready to go.
Dude, that mower puts my Sears Craftsman-crapbox to shame. That even cut blows my mind...
Nice video and lots of dust, looks better anyway.
14th ish.. good work! nothing like making a dust storm !
Those are some dry lawns mate, I hope you get some rain soon.
Wow. That's rough. My water bill was $50 last month. No watering here...plenty of rain. That's just normal water use for 3 people in the house doing laundry, etc.
Looked nice and dusty
Sure was
Dang, I'm sorry Mike, that really sucks bro! You guys need a solid few weeks of rain.
I've got a number of them on monthly payment so I'm still getting paid, but this is ridiculous.
awesome vid bro, lookin good!!
i think you can mow at 16mph in these conditions because the grass is so brittle haha! i would like to see you give it a shot in high-gear in these conditions just to see what happens...maybe on one of your lots you can test it.
We were experiencing the same her. Made a video and got a lot of flack for mowing dead grass, LOL!!!
Haters will hate... :)
Very common in southwest florida, I water the grass in late afternoon, when my dad does not see me "wasting water", but it was worth all the 25 gallons or so of water.
Nice cutting
Those lawns looks like summer lawns in Texas 😂
hopefully it rains! dont forget to do a rain dance!
I find the lack of Great Dane in the video even more depressing than the lack of rain! ;)
Wow, you guys really want to see that Great Dane mowing. Ok, let me step it up a notch...
love it
grass looks much the same here too. there's some people who irrigate it and it looks great, but most of them are dry. hopefully we'll get some rain out of this storm moving through tonight
You know that storm threatened big time, but it never rained here. This is crazy!
wow. we got 6 inches of rain here today and some areas north of me reported up to 15 inches of rain
I think maybe the actual mowing should've started sooner, especially since you put the time stamp "mowing starts at 7:55" that is telling me I have to go through 8 minutes of talking, or skip through, but it's also letting me know that I will not need to watch the first 8 minutes of the video. And another thing I noticed, which I don't understand is that, you mow in the same place multiple times. And that takes up a lot of time, and someone like the average Joe, they don't wanna watch a 30 minute video of someone mowing the same grass over and over. Just thought this would help! Happy mowing!
Sorry for all the trouble. Many people want the narration so I do it, but provide that option to skip for everyone else. Hard to keep everybody happy. And I often mow over the same areas because I'm trying to mow up the clippings finer so they will lay down nice. Sorry but these type videos aren't really for the average Joe.
I guess you're right about these videos not being for the average Joe. I'm weird and decided to watch you mow lawns. Too bad you can't mow mine! I guess it is a good idea that you have that option for people, keep doing what you're doing! If it ain't broken, why try to fix it?
Great Chanel - Just subscribed. Most of those looks like a typical Australian lawn. With no rain and most places have no ground water what can you do.
Also, aw. I was looking forward to weed eating!!
Bet that pissed off the ants to no end.
I don't know man... I guess being solo you can do them kind of lawns at what we in north call $20 lawns or cheaper
ant mounds are always fun
No ants were harmed during the making of this vlog of course...hehe
Doesn't your city have restrictions if there is a drought? My city does and you can't water during drought, so grass will look terrible
When are you gonna start using your Great Dane mower?you sad Before it was going to replace the cheetah for the most part :)excited for all the upcoming vlogs. take care :)
Oh, the Great Dane is done. But it still has some weird governor problem
Just out of curiosity why doesn't anyone bag with a zero turn. It's makes such a mess. I have always used a bag system on any zero turn I have ever used. Saves hours of clean up
They have mulching kits so no need to bag. He doesn't have one though but if he did he would've cut the time and gas in half.
$200 a month is robbery. That water provider is criminal.
pp
$ 200 a month? How is this possible? I spend without thinking about saving and pay an average of $ 7.50. And it includes the garbage collection and sewage service fee.
Good grief so much dust.
prob a good idear to knock the air filter on the ground after that dust storm.
Oooo, glad you said that. I totally forgot to. I'll do that tomorrow.
im up north and i was out doing some cleaning and i said ah, ill tap my air filters on my blowers and wakbehind really quickly. wont have to check them for 3 months... lol
Watching the weather channel, and watching the Florida wildfire conditions unfold. Is that affecting your area?
Yep, starting to get the wild fires too. We all have ash on our cars right now.
Will be praying for LOTS of rain for you guys!
Adventures In Whatever I'd say your prayers were answered!
Nice
Thanks!
good job mowing even though we have been really dry here in c.fl and i tell my customers(no helper anymore since i fired him a week or so ago so im backed up on 2 properties) and telling customers until it gets rain or wet season call me when they think its needed and most of my customers are bi weekly - weekly but i keep getting calls for 30+ minutes west but keep telling them my costs will be to high to go do their yard so until i find another partner or helper i gotta keep the yards i got now but if they text/email me from a little west i can help you out if needed but if i find a helper or what not then i can do them without costs being to high.. :/
I hear ya. I do as much as I can do without a helper because I've seen my friends in the business over and over where their help quit and they can't do all their yards. I cut it off at 70 accounts, but it always ends up creeping up to 80.
i try to do it without a helper but since i had to fire mine im backed up on finishing a sod job and mowing a bi weekly customer once rainy season comes around but most of my customers are on my street or near my street so i can walk to them..lol ;)
Im struggling with this as well, north florida.... im ready to get going full speed
Oh heck yea, I'm at the starting line too...
❤
oh hell no on the water bill here in the state I live we have a meter our bill is low
trying to figure out why you run your tires on the ground so much that edges the grass and such and burns your tires more then they need to be
i dont tear the grass or go on the concrete i dunno its just torture on the edging of the grass and your tires
Yep
Looks like you have not done this one for months .
It's crazy I'm in Daytona, and haven't watered all year. The lawn still looks good. Did you get any of the rain last week.
We did not. It threatened big time, but it never rained.
how often do you check or maintain tire pressure in the cheetah
I'd say about once a month. But it's usually correct.
subbed
Where r u Florida? I lived there for 10 years. It seemed like it rained everyday when I was there in Orlando ;)
East Orlando, by Speed World. Over the past 2 decades, yea, we usually get soaked. But this is a dry one for sure. Wildfires will be starting up again soon if we don't get rain.
Something 2LookAt I can't remember the year, but I was there when they had they bad fires around Deland. I don't ever remember seeing my area as dry as yours is right now. Hopefully you get some rain soon to keep you busy
How much hp is the cheetah? She must have a lot for what your doing.. LOL
I believe it's 27-28. Hard to say. The engine says 31 but that was rated wrong. No shortage of power though.
kawaski does make a 31hp motor!
You should really wear a dust mask.
🎉
Do you mow full time or do you have another job ?
Just the mowing
idk how you can mow without any protection man. I'm covered head to toe in gear haha.
I'm just used to it
You would've saved so much time and gas if you put a mulching kit of that mower.. That's a no go without one doing cleanups with a ton a leaves... Think, work and invest smarter not harder..
Well, for the most part I would not want the mulching kit on so this is just fine. It mostly cuts beautiful lush St. Augustine grass. Also, I don't think they ever made a mulch kit for it.
Something 2LookAt they actually do make a chute cover that works great that I've seen on other videos but you don't need it
Whoa wait $200 a month water bill, shit, I pay $40 a month and that's including my trash pickup.
Yep. I think our water company is mafia.
Did it end up raining?
Yea, a little that day. Now it rains a lot.
California sucks climate wise because the government does stupid watering restrictions, its always sunny there and it's steamy, and muggy lol California.
what hight do you mow
On this one 2.75 inches.
i argree
Omg get a bag! How can you cut the same strips 10 times instead of just having a bag. You probably covered the neighbors houses and cars in dust
DrAnalytical have you ever heard of a leaf blower? No? I guess not
If the cut grass and all that leaf dust Is going to be spread over the cut lawn it will never grow to a proper lawn. Do you ever remove the cut grass?
Sander he mulches everything up back into the yard so it will never hurt the grass
wrong james,,he also drove on it many times compacting the soil and creating thatch because you never remove any of the material over time,,you ,mulch on a weekly lawn,,not one that has dead grass or tall grass that is over grown,,it will smother the grass
Robert Swift the lawn wasnt a foot tall so he was able to mulch it all up properly
where are you located?
East central Florida
Where are you from?
Dezzydaze hey I'm from Florida. Where are you from?
I'm from Florida too lol
Dezzydaze we surely could use some rain huh? I hate it when it's real dry like this my lawn is dead.
Well I live in Washington now lol
7:55
7th-ish
Oh stop it Mow, you were like 165th and you know it.
Viewer 169th yes.. commenter 7th boom!
2,778th right cheer
Ha!
As it's this dry why don't you use a face mask to protect your lungs?
Basically they annoy me. And I've been doing this so long, the dust doesn't really get to me.
To protect, your breathing is Purely just a suggestion. It's your choice !! But as you go from one yard to another you ingest many chemicals in the air you breathe. But yes it's your choice !!
I think I'm just more resistant than most people. I never leave a yard coughing and gagging. And after 26 years of doing this, I still have the vital signs of a teenager. But I do understand why most people want all that protection.
To end this discussion I have a lengthy military background and chemicals many times entered my world. Just trying to prompt cushion--So in closing, have a great day and I'll be watching you via the Computer Screen !!
That shit is dead.
I don't want to sound offensive (really, I don't) but mowing lawns in a drought seems a little... well, stupid. VERY stupid actually. Grass shades the soil and prevents evaporation. There was an experiment in Qatar. 3cm of grass reduces the surface temperature from +72C to +34C. You mow it - you remove the shade, and water evaporates. Stop mowing - and it'll grow. It won't be as "nice" as "the county" wants but it'll be good fertile soil, not that eroded monstrocity. I think it should become the law - NO MOWING IN DROUGHT. Better yet, no mowing at all. With all due respect to your occupation, mowing lawns kills everything and everyone. It looks tidy, yes, but so can be longer grass. I remember how in blog #48 you cut BEAUTIFUL field flowers behind that pool. I hate to sound like a tree hugger, but we REALLY should learn to ENJOY the nature not try to manicure it into a shape that en vogue this season. Actually, you should be for it, too. If people adopt higher grass lawns, you will have MORE work, just like it's more work to style long hair than buzz a crew cut.
No one enjoys a yard full of weed
Yeah, sand storms are much more enjoyable.
Maloy7800. You must not be from the united states no one lives like that here and we dont have sand storms never 😂
You must be from the united states because you believe that if something doesn't happen in your backyard, it doesn't happen anywhere ever. How about you do what I did and type "sand storms in the usa" in a search engine of your choice? :-)))))))))))) Gawd, you gotta love americans! But can't.
Maloy7800 do you have a house? A house with yard? Do you know what HOA is?
