I love that transmission!!! So many truckers hate automatics on ice since they shift when they are not supposed to shift, resulting in loss of control on icy surfaces. Having the ability to put the transmission into manual mode eliminates this problem and makes having an automatic transmission a dream for most drivers.

Same. I was a manual shift snob 20 years ago when I last drove. There were not a lot of automated manuals then, just powershift autoatics like in our cars and pickups. If I got back in the truck, I would definitely consider an automated manual I shift truck.

I just got back into OTR driving after a year and a half absence and I got one of these i-shifts. Never driving an auto truck other than an Allison dump truck. I have to say that these ishifts are kind of idiot proof and shift pretty well. Under light steady throttle they shift very consistent and smooth.
i had to go hep a buddy the other night he dropped a cup of coffee and lost his transmission, sad, but under driver seat the plug before it goes thru the floor simply got moisture in it. truck less than 80 k miles plug perfect shape. tried blowing in the plug a few times can not really do anything else small prongs no way to wipe them. but finally was able to get it to detect n. and start, but it was all out of sorts, ended up unplugging it putting heater on high and it solved the issue, Had to just shake my head, thought ok new truck and your dropping your coffee, but it is sad a cup of coffee on the floor could of cost a tow bill and a shop bill plus the time lost. i started with a dual stick tri/plex. thought easy shift was when we got air splitters, auto is nice and so is cruise control, but i would trade them in a instant to get rid of these sensors and everything else so a truck would be a issue free money maker again, Side note after he got home i looked at the plug again still could see no way it could of got wet but i still coated it in permatex, hopefully that will stop it from ever happening again
I Driving I Shift Volvo since they released. You didn't tell a couple things. #1-When you got on D-Mode I seen on yellow dashscreen 4; that mean -you on the 4th gear and you can change lower or upper gear with +or - button. #2 -While you Driving on D-Mode if you just driving straight or going on uphill,you may change gear pressing +or - like you driving Mechanical transmission, I do Always and passing a lot of trucks on uphill. #3 If you driving on D-Mode you can any time change to M-mode and back to D mode.
Hi! Thank you for your comment. All depends what software you have on your truck for the transmission. You can always upgrade it. You may have to replace the shifter as well.

N means neutral and the number is the gear that the truck is going to start with. You can change that number with the arrows up or down on the shifter.

When activated, L is displayed as the driving mode in the DID. With the Premium gear selector, only 1st, 3rd and 5th forward start gears and reverse gear R1 are available. With the Basic gear selector, only 1st forward start gear and reverse gear R1 are available. The operator cannot change gears in Limp Home Mode. The Limp Home Mode will be deactivated when the ignition is turned off.

It’s easy since it does everything for you! One thing to keep in mind is that never go down hill too fast if you climbed the hill in 9th gear that means you get down in 8th or lower.

What is the diference between N1 and N2 on dashboard؟
