I troll almost exclusively, mostly in Wisconsin, my home state. We keep the down rod tips in the water so if there are any floating weeds, they hang on the rod instead of traveling down the line and to the lure. We mainly have small lakes that are weedy, at least along the edges an on the flats, with boat traffic those weeds get cut up and dislodged and are floating around. It helps you keep from wasting time clearing weeds from lures. Remember, every minute the lure is out of the water, you're not fishing for Muskies. It's about maximizing your time and effort. If you troll a lot, spend the money and get Shimano Tekota Line Counter trolling reels, hands-down the best out there. I've tried them all in 20 years of trolling, those are the best. Lots of different rods will work fine, but the reel matters the most. Love the channel Pete, your old friend Tom.
Pete i would look into the larger salmon size planner boards if you want to spread the baits out more. Offshore sst mags are awsome at pulling big coppers
Pete have you fished that lake alot this year?? I'm on it 3-5 times a year I've seen you out there and at Lakewoods, but not for a couple years. I got one trolling in the river this June a little smaller than that that lake has been pretty hot this year. It's funny how many people have filmed on it this year but it always makes me laugh I can always tell
Hey Pete, longtime fan and follower. Can u please clarify what the “experts “ mean by the statement saying fish the flats with access to deep water. Access is defined as what? 25,50 or 75 yards or more relating the deep breakline. Please give me an expert opinion. Thanks and best of luck this fall in all. 🎣🎣
Pete, I like your videos but a little education on what/how/why you are rigging, would also be greatly appreciated. I'm a novice troller for musky and pointers would make the videos more interesting.
Would be great to see a full video on how you set up everything for trolling like that. I have never seen rod tips in the water like that.

I use church tx 44s ( what it looks like the small boards are) they get the job done
