UPDATE ~ Bugibba / St Pauls bay Breakwater and Quay
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- Quick look around St Paul’s bay to bugibba, and the new bugibba, St Pauls bay ferry quay. The breakwater will be more than 180 metres long, which is longer than the present one. This will provide a better barrier from the waves and will protect fishing boats and other small vessels which are moored in this area and the rest of the bay. The agency will introduce safer facilities for mooring, and the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers who use sea transport.

I hope Buggiba doesn't get spoiled with all the building work and hotels sprouting up .But i suppose you've got to think of the future .Well done steve 👍👍
Good point! But maybe too late, tourist street needs some updating !!
ST PAUL'S BAY IN WINTER ☁️ ☀️ 🌊 .
Don't recognize my St Paul's Bay / Bugibba anymore. The major changes started in 1960s but it seems it really took off in the last 10 years or so. Development gone mad 🏢🏢🏢 in my humble opinion. Re those 'stairs' @ 5:00 I say, " One man's eyesore is another's monument" 🏛️😊.
Steve, I've got a photo of 3yo me sitting on that same wall @ 1:56.😊. The 'little harbour ' is known as "Il-Mentqa" ⛵🚢.
THANKS for taking me down memory lane Steve 🙏 👏.
Cheers 👍🇲🇹❤️🇪🇺™️
never heard it called "Il-Mentqa"but theres many names in Malta been lost to time !! yes it would make a nice monument with the architect burned under ...lol 😂
Don't be rude & cruel Steve 😂. The architect in question must have been influenced by renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi 😂.
Sorry for the typo, I meant "IL- MENQA" - Have a look at a SPB map and you'll thank me for the info 😀.
Cheers 👍🇲🇹❤️🇪🇺™️
Great video Steve done that walk many times things looking better all the time thanks for sharing .

Good video Steve love this part of the island. We always stay in this area when on Holiday. I bet you've seen a lot of changes over the year's steve.Good one mate 👍👍
Absolutely and not just that part !! Its crazy the changes thats happening all over the island, 10 years its going to be like hong kong if the population keeps going up !!
H Steve the new harbour will look great when it is finished
Its needed it for many years, and even better the second phase with the ferries
I remember walking through St. Paul’s Bay in February 1971, during my naval days, and it was very cold then.
Yes February is very unpredictable, you get allsort in February from beautiful sunshine to ice and rains storm's
We’ve never made it that far Steve, but would definitely do a ferry trip from Valletta when it’s up and running. Thanks for the video and the lovely lady Sanghita at the end.
Very welcome and thank you for the support !!
When my children were young I used to bring them at st. Paul bay to swim. Exactly me and my husband s family used to go behind the school where there is a quite spot by the sea and we used to swim there . We even used to make barbecues in summer. Very nice memories of those beautiful days. You mentioned Angelo s bar my sister used to work there when she was only fourteen years old in her summer holidays and she used to earn five pounds a week. How time passes by . Once more Steve you fill us with beautiful memories through your videos. Thank you Steve till next time.❤❤❤😊😊😊

Tony's do the best cappuccino! And McDonald's Mccafe do a great coffee and cake offer!!
Ill put on my list, that coffee shop I pointed out I love there amercano and apple pie !!
@@EnglishmaninMalta That one seems to have been shut a lot lately. My husband loves Tony's rum babas!
Thanks for another great one Steve. I think it's a great idea to have ferries going around the coast. When I was staying in Sliema, the best way to Valletta was the ferry, instead of the nose-to-butt road traffic, then the hassle and expense of parking. In the 1980s, when the beautiful old buses with the open doors and windows you could open with curtains you could draw against the sun, it was different. The approach through Floriana towards the Triton Fountain bus station was always a joy. There wasn't so much traffic then. Last time, the ferry from Sliema was 3 euros and the the little electric train from the ferry station up to St George's square, great for knackered kneed old crocks like me, 5 euros. Ferries are great.
Hey Paul yes its a great idea, but sadly years away!!
A nice and safer project for the breakwater Steve. Thanks for the info.
No problem 👍
Cmon Steve, you was going to show us these magnificent stairs!
If I get enough comments I will walk them !!
Good video. Thanks for showing Bugibba and the quay. The weather sure looks cold.
Yes it was a little, mostly cold wind, but hot when the sun comes out
Grazi hafna Steve,i did ask too see it. Easter soon we see for ourselves

How they getting on now Steve? We back 1st july
Hi Steve, Good one: u should have gone in McDs, better than you think i got nice pot of tea there last time
I am not really into McDonald's that much !
Hi Steve, do you remember the old days when the buses used to park or turn around in the square? Thanks for the walk.
Yes I do I was working there then at flora hotel
Bye the way Steve you are feeling very cold because you are not wearing enough clothes for the evening. Wear a good jacket that will not let the cold air get into your body and you will never catch colds. I always wear many clothes in winter and I don't feel any cold. Bye Steve.❤❤❤😊😊
Thanks for the tips! but I was out allday and it got coler as the sun went down !!
Used to have time share at the medereterian apartments there Steve Just up from the Gillera
Waht happened to them, I remember working around there ?
They sold them off Steve and moved it to the diplomat silimma hotel but not been over for three years mate
Do you remember Caesars? Rolf Harris place in The Square?
Yes of course I went several times
Like the changes will check it out May June. Let's hope I see the end result on the new Quay?
Ecerywhere changes in Malta
You should try Victoria next time for coffee. I liked it very much, but can’t tell you about the quality of the coffee. It looks open, though, in this video.
Good to know! but it had music over there was going to add it inthe video, I didn't bother in the end !
Couldn't agree more joined my 1st ship Sliema creek 1961. Few more visits over the years. Lived In Malta 74/75. Since then many visits. Last 12 years 2/3 times year. Changes too many some good others?
Yes its changing everyday, Crazy !!
Hi Hope you are ok and that the Weather is better than Here, very Miserable at the moment ,Dull, Cloudy and Not Very Good For Wanting to go out, I would if I could but I am Partially Disabled and need to use a Wheelchair unless I am Taken By Car. So Take Care and look.Forward to Your Next Visit. Bye. Angela.England.
Sorry to hear that Angela wish you good luck always xx
Thank You
those stairs were design by someone on .L.S.D
Could be they are crazy !!
What did the little bird tell you ?
I never use those ATM vending machines, there are ATM vending machines like that in our country as well, as a matter of fact if you use the right banks in Malta, to collect money from what is called a credit union, then it's even cheaper than using other banks in Malta, it's cheaper for me than using a credit card.
Sounds Great Alan I noticed there is a new way on ATM as two questions cash and info and other if you push cash and info you are automatically chaged 2 euros for a statement
Do you know the duration of this construction? until when it is?
Not sure, I am guessing first phase couple of years
Are prices getting expensive like here??
Crazy expensive the government is reducing veryday items to help !
MALTA is not as nice as it was.😢But there again no were is the same..😊
you answered your own comment ? lol 😂 sometimes it is also how we see life !!
HI STEVE...PLEASANT STROLL IN BUGIBBA....DO YOU THINK THEY ARE PLANNING TO LET CAR FERRIES ONTO THE NEW PIER...THAT WILL TAKE POTENTIAL TRAFFIC AWAY FROM CIRKEWWA...ESPECIALLY IN THE PEAK SEASON AND MAY MAKE THE ROADS A BIT MORE USER -FRIENDLY......REGARDS, PETER
Hey Peter ,No only foot traffic there it a plan in different parts of the island
