I purchased this about a year ago from Sailrite...GAME CHANGER!! Cuts so easy and so quickly, as he demonstrated, just with a finger. At first it will seem really heavy, if you're used to scissors or the typical rotary cutters, but you'll get used to the weight. It's not like you have to lift or carry it to use it! And because of the base you can cut directly on the table without any protective mat. It really is a great tool. That and a hot knife. No more zigzag finishing stitches. Oh one last mention... the plastic piece in the front is not just for fabric height, it's really meant to be a guard. I really enjoy your videos too. Thank you.
This would be great for those who sew and sell bags and totes. I am a newly retired person who has just bought my first sewing machine. I'm not doing any mass productions. I'm lucky to get my machine threaded properly on the first try. You inspired me to start sewing and I am now half way through my first quilt. I look forward to your videos and your sunny personality. Thank you.
I’m so glad to have inspired you! You can totally do this! I hope when you finish your first quilt you will stand back and marvel at your achievement. Trust me, you will find 100+ things you want to fix with it - unless you’re a savant - but it will be something you made and accomplished and for that reason, it’s perfect. I’d love to see it when you’re finished! I’ll come back and comment here when I get my Instagram set up. Or you can find me on Facebook already.
wow! this could be a serious game changer for us sewists that design tote bags using thick fabric and faux leather to serious quilters that design massive quilts. the only thing is that it would be nice if it was smaller. this is great for those who have problems with their wrist hurting when using a regular rotary cutter (carpal tonal)
Wow that is nice for small business people who need to cut multiple pieces. I was thinking as I was watching how it would cut multiple layers then you showed it. Very nice. I just sew for myself but I can see how helpful it would be.
At a very young age, I witnessed my uncle having an accident with a table saw. Things have improved with safety and guards. The fact that the guard is so high on this cutter scares me. I have watched garment sewists, in other countries, use these huge cutters for stacked patterns. They have skills! 😊
I got this shirt from The Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park. It’s the house designed for the Kraus’. I was in St. Louis giving one of my storytelling sessions for their members. Was a great time and they gave me a nice shirt when I said how much I liked it. The place is open for tours. Go see it! My favorite small Wright Usonian house.
I like that it has a honing stone built in--which is much of what the noise is (steel on stone). I make leather guitar straps & a supplier I use has a corded version for cutting their hides. I've used an ergonomic handle rotary blade for years, but this with a jig to control width could be amazing & doesn't need to be used on a self healing mat!
Here’s a much smaller one that’s less than $40. m.vevor.com/cloth-cutting-machine-c_11157/vevor-cordless-electric-scissors-3-6-v-2000-mah-mini-electric-fabric-cutter-1-6-skh9-sharp-blade-with-replacement-blade-and-battery-charger-for-cutting-carpet-cardboard-leather-paper-plastic-p_010940135231#goodsDetail
Wow, that's one serious rotary cutter on a mission. The weight of that size rotary cutter may cause fatigue in my hands and arms. I want to see you demo the other sizes, Timothy. 😊
HERE IS A GOOD TIP FOR THIS, TIM DAHLING: WHEN YOU MARK YOUR FABRIC TO CUT WITH THIS BLADE, MARK THE FABRIC ON THE WRONG SIDE SO THE MARKING WON'T SHOW ON THE RIGHT SIDE AFTER THE CUT.
When using these cutters, it is important to keep the foot flat on the table, otherwise each layer will be a different size. This happens a lot in factories where sometimes there is a long vertical saw blade cutting out garments. If the person sewing the garment isn’t aware of this, they can encounter difficulty when sewing the garment pieces together and dealing with garment sections of different sizes. I was told by a small manufacture a number of years back, that this is one reason why pants legs twist at the bottom, around to the front instead of the inseam or side seam staying at the side. The person sewing may stretch one piece to fit the other, or simply cut one piece off to fit the other.
There are several smaller ones. This is the biggest of them. Check out this much smaller and cheaper version: m.vevor.com/cloth-cutting-machine-c_11157/vevor-cordless-electric-scissors-3-6-v-2000-mah-mini-electric-fabric-cutter-1-6-skh9-sharp-blade-with-replacement-blade-and-battery-charger-for-cutting-carpet-cardboard-leather-paper-plastic-p_010940135231#goodsDetail
Comment 2: spinning blades of death came to mind--at least this version has nearly full guards... But they have another with no guard if your hand slips. Yikes. So far only cuts on my fingers with my manual blades, but these are scary. Cool, but should come with cut proof gloves! The smallest version is nice, but lifts the material up higher to the blade to cut... Wish they had a safety interlock that requires your hand on the handle or switch to spin the blades...
@@timothytotten9409 ok…it still would be a big help as long as I allow for the base when I’m cutting.I looked up the link you sent and the small one is inexpensive….that surprised me.thanks for the link.😊
That’s pretty cool. Is it really as loud as it seems or maybe my volume is too high? Might need earplugs. If you get the smaller one please share it with us .
Okay so just got this machine, literally. It us heavier than I hoped and larger but not unexpected as already seen it in this and other videos. Just hoped it was smaller version. In answer to your question no idea where to get replacement blades. BUT Vivir did include spare blade and sheet of grit paper and small amount of oil in delivery bottle. Large it is, heavy yes but not beyond my ability to lift and given once down on bench lifting will not be needed much. It has wheels under it so I can scoot it across cutting table. Instruction done by one whose primary written language is not English. I returned to you tube to get clarity. I got it because I do bulk cut for local group that sews for local community and govt health facilities. Mostly bags and plenty of them. I cut, overlock and use whatever donated fabric group has plus stuff I buy when on special. Variety of fabric has proved how little time blades last and that means cutting arm is impacted too. I am hoping after a little practice this new machine will allow me to do more with less physical rebound on my body.
I definitely think this is really only for a specific use. I don’t think most sewists need something this big. But there are smaller versions: m.vevor.com/cloth-cutting-machine-c_11157/vevor-cordless-electric-scissors-3-6-v-2000-mah-mini-electric-fabric-cutter-1-6-skh9-sharp-blade-with-replacement-blade-and-battery-charger-for-cutting-carpet-cardboard-leather-paper-plastic-p_010940135231#goodsDetail
It’s a good question. It was pretty strong and I imagine it would cut just fine. I was surprised that it hasn’t had any issues with anything I’ve thrown at it yet, even stuff I didn’t demonstrate on video.

Great points!
WHOA! THAT THING CUTS LIKE BUTTER! OHMYGAWWD! AMAZING!
You did a great job of extolling its virtues and limitations!
Thanks! I know it’s not for everyone but I certainly think there are specific people who would benefit.
This would nice when making bowl cozy. ❤

Extremely smooth cutting!
Very cool tool!
I would love a smaller version of this cutter. What an amazing piece of equipment!

yeah it is loud.
oh there is a smaller version. okay, great! i will check out the website!

My goodness! That is amazing. It's loud but gets the job done
OH TIM I LOVE THAT T SHIRT! I KNOW YOU ARE REFERRING TO FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT, ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREAT ARCHITECTS! I LOVE HIS WORK! FABULOUS ARCHITECT!
WHERE DID YOU GET THE SHIRT?
I am in love with that shirt.

Thanks for the demo. I could probably use a smaller version to save me from bending my back so much. I will check out the website. Thanks again.

Looks fun in sewing

That would be great for squaring up a quilt while it is still on my design wall.
A rotary cutter on steroids! Wonderful!

@@timothytotten9409 thank you!
I have one I don't use it that often but when I do it's soooo easy to use I love it

Can you use it without the bottom piece? So you could get right up to the edge of the ruler?
Unfortunately it’s meant to stay on the entire time.

I use the one with the cord to cut pants work great you have to be careful bc it will cut your finger real bad
Nice...question what is your cutting table your on?
That’s pretty cool. Is it really as loud as it seems or maybe my volume is too high? Might need earplugs. If you get the smaller one please share it with us .
It’s not that loud. I had it close to the microphone.
This is a nice tool to have. Not for me as of yet. ❤
If it had a laser feature, I would buy.
That would be a great addition.
it could be useful in trimmimg upholstery material. thinking like cutting in a ditch.
how long does the battery last? And the blade, where do I get a replacement? Important things otherwise why should I buy it.

I can't even use the small cutters. Oh my goodness this big
Yeah, I had them send me the biggest one cause I wanted to see if it was just enormous. Which it is!!
Price
It would work great for people with carpal tunnel.
Oh yeah. As long as they’re careful. Would need to get one of the smaller ones, actually. This was the biggest one they make.
I don’t think so….he said it was heavy .
The noise would bother me.
It does make some noise but that sounded louder because it was close to my camera microphone.
Don't care for that
