I own an Erebus Origin. The quality of this watch is astonishing. The photos and videos really don't do it justice. It has to be seen to be believed. If anybody is concerned about the true quality of Erebus Watches, fear not. They're fantastic! My original accuracy was -2 seconds to day, but after constant wearing it has settled down to +2 seconds per day and stayed there. It's truly amazing!
I agree with the Origin. I have it and it is great. I had to demagnetize it when it arrived because it was 26 seconds plus. Now it is 4 seconds plus. 🕐⚙️🍸
@@sensible202 True but the facts are even a lot of the swiss brands use a lot of parts made in china including cases and markers. The swiss pretend to be swiss made when the rules are liberal on what can be made outside of the country and as such most the time comes from china. China is a dodgy place to deal with because they do try and cut corners on products even if its to save a cent or two because they make so much stuff they still can make good profit savings a cent or two on parts but if you use one of the well respected companies and make sure you visit the factory to show respect to the people running things then you tend to find you have no issues. The brands that don't visit factories and then just bash the manufacture's for every last cent in savings then tend to find they will get cheaper made products or less care in QC and so on.
Thanks for the great and honest review. I think it’s commendable that you put out content in what is not your native language. I think you, me, and Russell (Mad Watch Collector) are the only ones who think they released too many dials at once. 😅. I worked as an architectural designer, and if you present too many choices, it’s actually harder to decide than presenting few great ones. I’m not saying these dials are not all great, but 12 seems like a lot. I LOVE the watch otherwise though. I went safe though and got the white with the J Style. Although that green fume was really calling my name, and I have never considered a green watch before. Thanks again!

Best review I have yet seen on this watch (just subscribed to your channel as a result). I have to say I could not agree more with your points about the additional hidden costs to buying one of these. While initially the watch seems like good value, by the time you factor in all the extra costs of shipping and DHL's rip off import duties (strangely always higher than anyone else's), it suddenly becomes really quite expensive. I found you also often have to add a little more when you factor in the exchange rates for your own currency too. Suddenly it isn't such good value after all, particularly when many manufacturers now include free shipping! I recently experienced this with another microbrand, which added a quite shocking $65 shipping add on (I didn't buy that one either)! I also agree that there are too many dial choices here. Kind of a shame, as I'd really quite like one of these.
Great review! I am getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these. I have only two questions; #1- while wearing the watch, can you feel the protruding 'quick release' pins on the underside of the bracelet? And #2- do you think the 'J-Style' bracelet will be a hair-puller? Thanks again, I enjoy your reviews and commentary.
Thank you very much! Yo answer your questions: 1. No I couldn't, although I know some people have reported it. 2.I don't have a lot of hair but for me it wasn't at all. I believe Jody looks out for these kind of things and I haven't heard anyone report it 👍
Awesome video, didn't know you existed so will certainly subscribe to you. For me the biggest issue is the choice. Because i am constantly doubting the purchase i have made and fear i may regret not getting annother favourite option once i receive it. I still think its a deal with all the added cost i have to endure being in the UK.
VAT, shipping, custom fees, they apply on most internet transactions, especially international, whether from Erebus or Jomashop. Seems like a problem with online shopping in general, much less the brand per se.
I was planning to buy one, but the additional costs made me think otherwise. €414 base price €33 shipping to Belgium €16.5 Import duties (4%) €87 VAT (21%) Totaling €550. That's almost 150EUR that gets vaporized.
A bit Shilltastic™, but fantastic that you highlighted the true cost issues and touched on actual macro quality. Jody really needs to give his fellow Brits a true 'through the door' cost, and ideally ditch Dodgy DHL in favour of a better option. It is a watch that should not be viewed too closely. Some of those shots are awful, like the groves in the crown. Usual 'fake negatives' such as case back and too much choice, but you are getting a free watch and a channel boost (well done by the way) so it's the least you can do. I have no doubt its a great £420 watch, but saying it compares to £3k watch is pure fantasy sales talk. Not one person seems to think the rehaut looks cheap, and the overly large cheap looking crown also dodges scrutiny largely, so hopefully they look better in the flesh. Some of the date windows look oddly colour matched too, but at least they made more of an effort than a lot of big brands. Blue Helix on 'O' style bracelet seems the stand out piece IMO.
You are welcome. Well, if you don't talk loud enough on UA-cam no one listens 😂. I stand by everything that I said, positives and negatives, as always I've tried to give the most honest review I can, from my perspective of course! Everyone's positives and negatives are going to be different and I watched the other reviewers POV after making the video as to not get influenced. I totally agree, these companies and many others need to stop using these fast courriers who are practically scammers, charging so much and taking pretty muchas long to deliver as normal post, especially from overseas
Not sure why there's so much focus on the import duties for Erebus. I have a Zelos, Nodus, Helm and Traska and I got hit for import duties with all of them, it's nothing new.
Great review. My only “moan and niggle” is that you can’t really fault them for the price of shipping and the taxes that over-reaching governments make us pay. Those are not unique to Erebus nor can they eat the cost of these things. I thank you because your video has pushed me over the line and I have decided to order one. Thanks for the great review. But what dial??? 😊
Weird then that we didn't get paid at all or get any other incentive for this video other than a promise of a production unit! We sure are a really cupid lot 😂
Again erebus looks like amalgamate of bits and pieces from Seiko, vintage Omega and many other brands. Must be a lot cheaper to " borrow " then to design something from the scratch. And then erebus asking customer to spend as much as for the watch from well established brands. I don't see value for money. 👎👎👎
Good review 👍. The tax issue it a big thing in the UK too. We have 20% VAT and the couriers always add a rip off handling charge. When I buy from AliExpress, the standard shipping sometimes slips through the net and there is no tax charged, so paying $33 to a courier to guarantee I get taxed isn't my idea of fun.
It's the shipping and import costs that immediately ruled these out for me. I realise it's not all on them, but once added it brings other options into the conversation.
Excellent review! Looks like another successful launch from Jody. One thing you mentioned that caught my attention involves the noise and vibration associated with the Miyota 9015 movement, which has also been described in prior reviews. Either I have a particularly quiet watch (Wise Adamascus), or my senses are dulled, because I never experience this. For example, if I take my watch off and shake it vigorously, once it is more than 6-8 inches from my ear I can't hear the rotor, even in a completely silent room. And I certainly can't hear it during normal usage. Nor can I ever feel the rotor moving while I'm wearing it. Is it just me? Or is this issue possibly something that gets repeated so often that it becomes expected?
Thank you so much! I'm pretty susceptible to noise on my watches, and you hear it more here than let's say in a Tsuyosa. But is it a deal breaker? Not to me, but still I had to mention it 😊
Really like the design, but I was disappointed that there's no standard fume blue option. I'm not a fan of the helix dials. Overall, great job by Jody and Erebus (still hoping they release that color down the line)!!!! Edit: @horologique how subtle is the helix pattern in person?
Worn mine about a week so far. While nice, the lume is nowhere after a minute or two, J style bracelet has several sharp spots and the Miyota 9015 always sounds like it’s coming apart.
Honestly this is a lot of watch for that price. None of the negatives are negatives, 12 options is just awesome to have. Shipping and taxes are negatives but things we see on everything else you buy online.
Hello! Great review, my first on your channel. I apologize if I missed it during the video, but if you don't mind me asking, which version did you end up choosing to receive as a production unit? As an additional question, i'm torn between black enamel and black helix, do you have any input after handling them in the flesh? Thank you!
The design of these watches is exactly what I have been waiting for. I planned on getting an Ascent Aventurine and an Origin 41 Blue... Then I looked up what 'Erebus' means and decided that I will _never_ buy one of these watches. I am very disappointed that Jody would give his watch brand such an anti-Christian name.
Excelente mi pana. Implementaste efectos de audio y diferentes transiciones que le aportaron calidad y modernidad al video. Bien Oliver 👏🏼 👏🏼 good job. Un abrazo.
These watches should have the Tudor Kenesis movement in them and an option for Arabic numerals, Then I’d buy. A well regulated movement is the foundation of a good watch, not the dial
Bon week-end ;)
I wholeheartedly agree about the amount of choice on dial options. A month in and I still havent decided. I still keep switching between the white and Orange and purple fume dials... I think it will be white enamel to be he the true GADA watch I want it to be....
A good choice in going for the white vs your other shortlist picks…in my opinion, the white dial will provide you with the greatest amount of versatility (no colour clash with what you might be wearing…if that’s a consideration)
Agree the way this has been marketed on price is really disappointing. Great honest review. Almost £30 to ship to uk and customs duties on top. I can get a good 2nd hand christopher ward sealander for that price. Great watch, but not with these hidden extra costs for me thanks
Love Jody, love the look of this release, and I am happy for all his success. But the thing holding me back is the 6 o'clock date window, which is present in most watches these days. I kind of miss the traditional 3 o'clock position. When it is at the 6, the window and numbers on the date wheel are much skinnier/more narrow and therefore less legible (to me, anyway). Even in the wristroll at 14:38 - the 1 is nearly covered by the window, and it isn't even a steep or harsh angle. Would rather not have the date function if that is the case. Maybe I am just getting finicky in my old age lol. Would love to support Jody with a purchase, but my Seiko SRPE51 remains undefeated as my daily wear.
I own two Origins and love them. I’ve ordered the purple fumé on o style with black leather strap pack for the Ascent, and may add a black or white enamel on J style before preorder ends! Thanks for the review ❤
Excellent review, Olivier. Love your channel and have been subscribed for a while now. The negatives, for the most part, are quite subjective. The prototype had some build quality flaws etc... and this is not unexpected. Applicable tax depending on where you live is obviously out of Erebus's control. Power to the people.....the choice is quite extensive as you have pointed out, but I don't necessarily see this as a negative. I have many watches with white, black or other coloured dials, so was looking for something a bit different...which Jody and co have provided. The textured helix fume dials really appealed, as did the aventurine (I already have a really nice one from Venezianico with the tungsten bezel, so it was a bit pointless getting the ascent in this dial option) and malachite. The purple helix with the jubilee type bracelet for me! I live in New Zealand, so to be charged around $60 NZD for shipping (from australia) was pretty steep, so I was a little annoyed at that aspect of my purchase. Overall I was very impressed with this offering from Erebus (unlike the the Origin, which I did not like....due to the chunky/clunky hour had and awful seconds hand), value for my hard earned cash looks pretty good and I am looking forward to receiving it.
Hello Graham and thank you very much for your comment and support! I'm really glad you went for the purple helix, a lovely, level timepiece. It is essential to point out that, prototypes or not, these watches were pretty groundbreaking, packing oh so much punch for the price in terms of specs and overall quality. I'm also eager to receive mine and to review a production unit in the channel. Cheers, Olivier
A few points. The watch received was not representative of the production pieces, as the reviewer himself notes. So, any random dust particles and imperfections in polishing, should not be present when you receive yours. Also, who goes around with a magnifying glass, asking to check out other people's watches? I get it, some like to do extreme views of watch dials, but really? What I want is a watch that looks clean to the naked eye, nothing more, nothing less. And finally, the whole thing with shipping, handling, VAT, duties, tariffs, etc., is a pain for many people and is not exclusive to this or any other brand.
When they say the watch is worth several times its price, maybe it's more accurate to say that other brands should be worth several times less than their price.
@@FurkanCemTurfanda dude Rolex generated over 10 billion in revenue last year and has 30,000 employees. They are doing fine lol. Plus the wealth they generate through investing that money. Hey, I'm all for it but I'm just saying they could probably cut the price of their models and still make a massive profit.
@je2338 Rolex is a very specific example. The ultra high end of any industry will be making crazy money because they have absurdly high margins. Even among the luxury goods brands, Rolex is a very specific example that has captured a niche that allows it to make non-complex watches and sell them for high prices. You could argue you're paying for the marketing and the cache of the name. Comparing startups, Chinese companies, micro-brands etc. to a company like Citizen or Seiko is not the same thing. This goes for any industry. Small companies are going to be leaner and able to sell for lower prices.
@@FurkanCemTurfanda that's no necessarily true. Starting a new business takes investments and loans and massive debt which means they need to make a profit on every watch they make. They have probably leveraged their homes. The beginning of the business is arguably the costliest. They have to pay for the movement, design from scratch, probably had to poach watch makers from other brands and offer them higher wages plus start their marketing from scratch and all this before they even made a watch or a single dollar. Rolex, saiko, citizen etc have been making the same watches for years so all those extra expenses were already made and they have the designs down pat so it's now just pure profits and how much they will spend on marketing and tweaking their existing designs in most cases.
There is not “too much choice” here. Everyone older than 5 years should be able to handle it, because you never have to decide between all 12 of them, there are always like 50% you can rule out immediately. But there is definitely too little choice. For example the Erebus Origin had 8 colors to choose from. None of them appealed to me. The Ascent is a huge improvement in that department.
Absolutely correct. I would’ve wanted even more choice. . . A nice, dark red/Burgundy. As it is, I’ll have to settle for the purple Fumé. Most people who are in to the world of UA-cam watch-reviewing has a cachet of watches. I need something that will complement my collection.
Completely agree, It's absolutely pathetic to say you do not know what one to buy. It seems a lot of people not actually buying one are using it as an excuse to not buy one lol. Its also something that paid reviewers use as a 'false negative' so that their review seems balanced ; )
I hope Jody and Mr P disregard the feedback from TMWC and Horologique about limiting the number of dials, because then I'm sure the dial I ordered on the day of the release, Green fumé, would not had made the cut 😅
The green sports watch is Jody's favorite, It would have been a keeper. I think what they mean by too much choice, is that you'd probably want to buy 2 or 3 watches, and we're not going to be buying that many blindly or on pre order.
@@gilbertoflores7397 I don't know. To me this feels much more honest, releasing all the options at once, instead of a few now, and then another batch of "better and improved" dials in a month or two because of "popular" demand. Even if the green fumé might be both Jody's and mine favorite, I guess they wont stock up on it after the initial release, since it's the one that has the least pre-orders according to their insta. i believe Mr P is the business oriented of the duo, and if he is providing business sensibility in their company, they will use the pre-orders to see which dials sell well, and which they should not keep in stock. At least i hope that is the idea, unlike the Ali Express peddlers, that live by their latest release and want to sell you a "new" version every month or so. I digress... 🙃
The 'too many options' thing is a BS 'false negative' that reviewers use to make their reviews seem balanced ; ) Jody started the whole false negative thing off re. the case back not being better. If someone watches a review where the 'negatives' are not something they have an issue with, then the review is psychologically 100% perfect for them, so they get their payment card out.
Yea, but Jody and his business partner also have to be paid... And cover the overheads of a small batch producer. Nice offerings but, yea, slightly pricey
SInce no one seems to talk about it I will. I don't like that malachite dial, it reminds me of ribbon candy. If you are doing something that bold the colors should be tame. That said I'd love to see what it looks like rotated 90 degrees. I think if it was vertical especially on the jubilee bracelet they might have something. You would see that polished line follow straight through the watch. Plus every watch is north south as it is because every watch has a band attached to it. Just my thoughts...
I don't get the gripes about the shipping and import duties to be honest. Shipping costs are outlined at checkout and if that's a deal breaker then don't order. There is nothing that Erebus can do about any import duties either, so pretty unfair to label that as a negative on the watch. It feels like you went out of your way to find negatives here. For a sub $400 watch are you honestly expecting flawless indicies under macro? I know I'm not. On the topic of criticisms... the sound effects you add when cutting between shots are distracting and not necessary. They made the review much harder to watch than it needed to be.
Cool watch. I'd go for the Aventurine. Very like my Casio MTP-1303PD-2AV😅.(€30) A screwdown crown on a mechanical watch +/- 40 seconds a day or whatever would annoy me though.
Hi Olivier, funny to listen to you in English. What’s about the gap between the end links and the case? It seems that the integration is not fantastic.
They are lovely watches, but my main criticism is that the bracelets feel lazy.. they designed a beautiful watch and then just chucked on oyster/jubilee style bracelets, and calling them “J” or “O” isn’t terribly clever, just a lazy workaround to hide the fact they’ve used standard bracelets that everyone else uses by default. With such beautiful dials, some thought toward the bracelets would have been nice.
When you're the new young gun to the game, you don't want to take too many chances or spend too much money on R&D for a new part or parts for a new watch you've just made. It could backfire and bankrupt you. Plus, it keeps the prices down to use existing parts/pieces. Once they get entrenched into the watch industry and get some money flowing, then they can take chances or stray from the norm. IMO, they are probably going to break even on their first two offerings, if even that.
I hadn't thought about it that way, but it's a fair point. However the bracelets are excellent quality and pack a lot of functionality, so no complaints from me there 😁. Maybe they will propose something more original along the way at some point
@@Horologiqueso how good of quality is the bracelet? Is it much better finished and feeling than a San Martin? Because Jody always, and I mean always craps on their "sharp bracelets", and this does look like a generic bracelet, and the end links don't even properly fit on the watch, wirh big gaps between the two. Since you're one of the few reviewers who likes San Martin/Chinese brands that got this watch to review (probably on purpose). How does this watch comprw to the San Martin GS GMT watch with their own mineral dials?
@@gilbertoflores7397Just got my Ascent and bracelet finishing is on par with SM. Not sharp either, which was an issue with my Origin(improved with some fine grit paper). The links are slightly thinner than the SM, which I think suits the dressier Ascent, but in hand makes the SM bracelet feel a bit more premium. But I’m really spitting hairs on that point. Overall, this is an excellent watch and value. Very much feels like a Citizen Chronomaster meets Grand Seiko meets the new Aqua Terra 38mm black enamel. 👍🏻
@@patrickhartmann1540 good to know. I get mine tomorrow. I want it to be good, but looking at it, I knew the higher cost wasn't for better quality, a San Martin with better dials.
I like how the blue enamel dial changes from black to blue depending on how the light hits it. I took a chance on the burnt orange, the fume looks too bright and flashy in direct sunlight, but looks gorgeous in other conditions.
17 centimeters of circumference = 5.41 centimeters in diameter. 17 centimeters in diameter is 53.4 centimeters circumference. Are you sure yours is 17 centimeters in diameter?
Since you're one of the only reviewers who likes San Martin/Chinese brands, or doesn't hate them just because they're not really a microbrand, That got this watch to review (probably on purpose). How does this watch compare to the San Martin GS GMT watch with their own mineral dials? Is the bracelet edged beveled to perfection? Jody is always complaining about San Martin having sharp bracelets, so he better have perfect braclets. Especially when the bracelets have huge gaps between the end-link and case. Almost no one actually showed the bracelets, just the clasp and said it was a good bracelet. I would like a better comparison, especially when they say GS/Omega similarities, the higher end brands have a huge atep up in bracelet quality, hope this ones does too.
First of all, I never since the beginning had an issue with San Martin watches having sharp bracelets, so I'm not the best to judge here. But I really believe they are in par6, I wouldn't be surprised if the factories in which many of these parts are manufactured are the same than SM or Chronos
@@Horologique thank you, if you do some digging into his videos, that is always Jody's complaint about San Martin; their sharp bracelets. You'd also be a bit surprised he doesn't review them all that much anymore, or at least not full reviews, sometimes just unboxings, or comparisons. This all began when he channel got deleted, the person who was getting channels deleted, was blackmailing them into not reviewing san martin watches, and was falsely reporting them for misuse of copyright/trademarks (O-style/J-style bracelets). Ever since then Jody has kept San Martin talk/praise to a minimum. He would says they have sharp parts (even the clasp he is using). So I would hope Jody addresses these things in his watch. Since it looks like a regular San Martin bracelet, which he's expressed many times as being a weak point of the watch.
Yes but when you sell an item in EU and Uk you must by law add vat at 20% so you don’t avoid it just as custom import fees are still payed by importer and passed on. The bi g issue is AliExpress watches over £135 are avoiding customs by declaring false values for customs . You can’t expect other businesses to break customs laws just because others do.
Ordered the blue enamel and came out to $385 after shipping. Glad The US doesn't have import taxes on anything under $800. The reason they can offer so many dials is we are basically paying for the watches to be manufactured, so we have to wait until September to get the watch. I'm not ordering another watch from them if they keep doing this, as I'm sure they can take chances on premade watches and own design, since I think they'll making a pretty buck on these watches.
Excellent, honest review. I'm glad you pointed out that the final cost might be around 30% higher for many of us. Still a beautiful watch, but not quite the bargain it first appears. I also have to agree with Russell over at the MWC channel that this is more a dress watch than a true GADA, as it is likely to get scratched up quite easily. Beautiful, good quality watch though. I'm just hoping the next Erebus is a field watch of similar quality.
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I think it was essential to point that final price point. Maybe it's because I live in Europe and we are much more used to pay the displayed price. As for the next watch totally, I really hope they make a wonderful field watch with tritium tubes, how cool would that be??
for some reason i cringe whenever a UA-camr pronounce San Martin as SanMarrrrttaan. 😖 . it should be pronounced in Spanish because of "San". not the cringey french pronunciation.
all are MADE IN CHINA....hence the cost and price level..... so be prepared for any QC issues as per all made in china brands or microbrands ...which are aplenty...e.g. VARIO too.....

Which Aventurine dial looks better? The Erebus Acent Aventurine or the Venezianico Rendentore Aventurina? Thanks
To be really honest, they look about the same, as rich and detailed! If you want a 10% discount on Venezianico don't hesitate to use code HR-10 😉
Not sure why there's so much focus on the import duties for Erebus. I have a Zelos, Nodus, Helm and Traska and I got hit for import duties with all of them, it's nothing new.
Huge Jody fan & this seems like a great value piece.
There is no negative in having options IMO.
I have the Erebus Origin, which is good, and I ordered the Erebus Ascent. Let’s. 🕐⚙️🍸
The word Erebus means Hades, will watch reviewers do anything for money?
Weird then that we didn't get paid at all or get any other incentive for this video other than a promise of a production unit! We sure are a really cupid lot 😂
"Ascent" or "Ass scent" - you be the judge
If this were from a mainstream brand they would be 3x the cost at least for the quality.
Automatically selecting accessories before the add to cart is scummy.
17cm wrist diameter?
Yep, I'm a freakin massive 😁
You should pronounce it 'air-eh-boo'.
I really should 😂😂🇨🇵
this is an advertisement video, why dont you mention what you dont like about the watches?
I guess you didn't watch the whole video...
Quality of the steel looks nasty
12 dials? Ridiculous. devalued as soon as they hit the market.
Again erebus looks like amalgamate of bits and pieces from Seiko, vintage Omega and many other brands. Must be a lot cheaper to
" borrow " then to design something from the scratch. And then erebus asking customer to spend as much as for the watch from well established brands. I don't see value for money. 👎👎👎
Nice review Olivier, you are the first to actually show the helix dial GS reference. Compared to the original, Jody's helix looks pretty darn good!
Thank you. Yes this is great work, especially because it's sooo much cheaper than the GS and is still great quality 👍
I’m in Uk - agreed ! 😯
Lucky you, in Norway we have a 25% VAT.
Looks rather cheap. Not impressed.
This watch can be accused of many things, cheap looking is certainly not one of them
Beautiful watch but with DHL, DHL fees, and 21.5% tax in my region the value proposition is lost. A shame.
I know 😔
Lucky you. If I ordered it, it would be 27%+1,5% extra for import duties...
@RonaiHenrik Wow 😮crazy taxes
Great review, nearly had a heart attack when I looked up at 6:52 and saw the price was $13,802.00...lol
It's the shipping and import costs that immediately ruled these out for me. I realise it's not all on them, but once added it brings other options into the conversation.
Same here i was considering a San Martin as well until I saw I’m responsible for import costs…pass
It's greatly made, really, it's pretty impressive! The dials themselves are all flawless
@@Horologique hhmmm, I've got a day or to decide, haha
I too wished they had a standard fume blue option. I went ahead and ordered the adventurine on jubilee bracelet instead.
Great video! Just tone down the sound effect loudness, literally made me jump when the loud static crackle overpowered your voice 😅
Thank you! I'll keep it in mind, thank you!
Which model + bracelet will you ask as a free production unit @Horologique ?
Worn mine about a week so far. While nice, the lume is nowhere after a minute or two, J style bracelet has several sharp spots and the Miyota 9015 always sounds like it’s coming apart.
Honestly this is a lot of watch for that price. None of the negatives are negatives, 12 options is just awesome to have. Shipping and taxes are negatives but things we see on everything else you buy online.
Thanks for you reply!
Hello! Great review, my first on your channel. I apologize if I missed it during the video, but if you don't mind me asking, which version did you end up choosing to receive as a production unit? As an additional question, i'm torn between black enamel and black helix, do you have any input after handling them in the flesh? Thank you!
I really like this San Martin....sorry, Eribus piece. Looks pretty good on wrist. 😊

Un abrazo.
Muchísimas gracias Byron. Crédito a mi editor que es un joven muy talentoso 😁
These watches should have the Tudor Kenesis movement in them and an option for Arabic numerals, Then I’d buy. A well regulated movement is the foundation of a good watch, not the dial
Jody is really cooking this year but you cannot beat the Orient Star when it comes to value for money.
Value is always “for money.” How else would value be calculated? Quality per size? Quality per age? No, it’s always and only quality per price.
I'm sure the watch will do well as did the origin but you're going to have to really want one to swallow the extortionate import charges.☹️
Most versatile colors would be white or black enamel, black swirl.
Agree the way this has been marketed on price is really disappointing. Great honest review. Almost £30 to ship to uk and customs duties on top. I can get a good 2nd hand christopher ward sealander for that price. Great watch, but not with these hidden extra costs for me thanks
"Giving it a twist"
With your choice of oyster or jubilee bracelets...derp..
Excellent review. I think one can buy two of these and feel they're getting different watches
Thank you so much! Yes totally! My choices would go for Helix and the enamel, what would yours?
@@Horologique I'd say the helix and sunburst both in purple cuz they are both quite different shades.
Ruled out for me as shipping and VAT will add 100 quid to the cost 😢
Too much choice???
Olivier, given you haven't got green skin, you must mean wrist circumference instead of diameter ;-).
Have I not mentionned that I'm an absolute giant 😂. Thank you for pointing that out 👍
Replied with the user from my French channel Horomax 😁
Excellent review and you have gained a new subscriber. 😀
Thank you so much, welcome to the channel 👍
A few points. The watch received was not representative of the production pieces, as the reviewer himself notes. So, any random dust particles and imperfections in polishing, should not be present when you receive yours. Also, who goes around with a magnifying glass, asking to check out other people's watches? I get it, some like to do extreme views of watch dials, but really? What I want is a watch that looks clean to the naked eye, nothing more, nothing less. And finally, the whole thing with shipping, handling, VAT, duties, tariffs, etc., is a pain for many people and is not exclusive to this or any other brand.
Very sound points 👍
that purple fume dial looks amazing
Subscribed though
Thank you 😁
Thanks for the review! I think Jody really improved upon the first watch (which I also liked, but this one is awesome.)
Jody nailed it for me....really, olivier prend celle en fond blanc.....en jubilé.... Elle est top, great real review.... Frédéric

When they say the watch is worth several times its price, maybe it's more accurate to say that other brands should be worth several times less than their price.
Bigger companies have bigger overhead, people need to get paid.
Exactly. Too much choice is a negative. Can’t take that criticism seriously.
Supposed to be a ? after the word negative. Oops!
The 'too many options' thing is a BS 'false negative' that reviewers use to make their reviews seem balanced ; )
Jody started the whole false negative thing off re. the case back not being better.
If someone watches a review where the 'negatives' are not something they have an issue with, then the review is psychologically 100% perfect for them, so they get their payment card out.
It's on the pricer side for a China made watch. After import duties and delivery fees, not a value proposition. I still like the design!
This looks very similar to the Christopher Ward Sea lander and the twelve
Cool watch. I'd go for the Aventurine.
Very like my Casio MTP-1303PD-2AV😅.(€30)
A screwdown crown on a mechanical watch +/- 40 seconds a day or whatever would annoy me though.
Hi Olivier, funny to listen to you in English. What’s about the gap between the end links and the case? It seems that the integration is not fantastic.
I think that jubilee looks way too busy on the majority of these choices. Helix + "O" style is just perfect.

I ordered the orange fume on day one. 🙂 Now comes the wait.
Love your camera work here thank you!
That's super nice, thank you very much 👍👍
I like how the blue enamel dial changes from black to blue depending on how the light hits it.
I took a chance on the burnt orange, the fume looks too bright and flashy in direct sunlight, but looks gorgeous in other conditions.
I'm leaning towards the blue enamel too 😁. Don't worry, I'm sure the orange is stunning irl
17 centimeters of circumference = 5.41 centimeters in diameter. 17 centimeters in diameter is 53.4 centimeters circumference. Are you sure yours is 17 centimeters in diameter?
Mistake, sorry, my wrist is 17cm in circumference
Where are you based Monsieur? When you were showing the watch on the websites they were priced at nearly $16,000?
I'm in France but that was my Editor who's in Uruguay. I wondered the same 😂
Since you're one of the only reviewers who likes San Martin/Chinese brands, or doesn't hate them just because they're not really a microbrand, That got this watch to review (probably on purpose).
Regarding the import fees: It IS under control of the Brand - they can create a branch within the EU 👍
But yes... +30% is a NOGO!

Sound effects are annoying, excessive, gimmicky.
Dude is this your first video on UA-cam??? God, people these days!!!
The crown anglage is mesmerizing . Bravo !!!
