This song is as good now as its sounded over the last 4 years ive been listening to it. Your voice and playing style compliment each other incredibly well
Yes! Richard Inman IS incredible. Thanks to your video I'm discovering him for the first time. I love this song and your interpretation of it, you are a talented musician (and an inspiration).
In the sixties I worked at a music store that sold the Bacon banjos. We ordered them from Gretsch. Gretsch was bought out by Baldwin which bought out ODE which bought out yada, yada, yada. Seems like in the sixties everyone was selling their companies. Who owns what now? I needed some info about my Guild guitar, and they told me to contact Fender customer service. Can you say confused?
I love you very much. you have taught me a lot. I got a little five string banjo like the plucky, but much less expensive. I have a very bad shoulder and I have short arms. I love it for my tiny spaces, and travels. the people who dont like banjo, dont complain ether. I didnt like it at first, because I had learned to play much harder on my big clunker. not soft and flowing like you play. Love and good wishes.
😢😅. O, give me back mine heart, for you have taken It and hurt it so sweet I sometimes don't mind. But now what shall I do but weep for having listened. Oh end me now, I am complete.
Might it pre-date Gretsch? Was there a date that Gretsch took over? (I have one that I bought used in the mid 1960s, and thought that Bacon was its own entity then.)
@@meredithmoon Keep inspiring people Ms. Moon. I love playing fast Doc Watson tunes. Now i need a banjo so bad. I have dreams about them. Chase your dreams and keep doing what you do. Stay making people smile :)
you're right of course, it's pointless to debate taste in that way I was just happy to find that rare cover I like better than the original (and isn't it just too easy to see the faults in your own works?)
TheLastlatvian From what I see the song is in Open G (to be precise it uses the same intervals, basically meaning it's like G but with a different pitch, in this case Eb), it uses the G, Em and C chords (maybe a D as well), and that hammer-on on the 4th string, 2nd fret, followed by a slide on the 4th string from the 2nd fret to the 4th. All this played in clawhammer with a bit of drop thumbing thrown in the mix. Hope that helps!

I think it’s funny how I keep coming back to this song, going to top of the page to like this video, then realizing I already did.
Bone chilling. You are truly something else Miss Moon.
When I grow up I wanna be a banjo player, playing oldtyme claw hammer right 😊😊😊😊
And meet girls like this.
She is fantastic. 😊😊
Truly beautiful delivery. Nice to hear the long neck in full swing. Excellent performance.
Such incredible talent & beautiful voice. Meredith you're awesome✨Thank you.
So great
That is the giraffe of banjos, holy cow!
Exaclty what I was thinking! I didn't discount the possibility that she is 4'3" tall, but I think it's just the banjo
Sounds great and that is probably the longest banjo i have ever seen

This is beautiful rarely have i heard a lady playing a longneck and singing as good as you
Thanks! Hopefully someday you'll just see me as a banjo player, and not just a banjo-playing lady.
I get told regularly im an angry yob who plays banjo i really dont see the divide in genders just love quality music
Love to hear that long-neck growl against your beautiful vocals.
My all time favorite video song 🎵 🙌 ❤ and beautiful 😍 banjo. Why?because I own a Bacon 🥓 long neck banjo too.

This is a picture I’d like to paint.
have you uploaded this song on spotify
Is that one of the Bacon banjos by Gretsch?
It is
Might it pre-date Gretsch? Was there a date that Gretsch took over? (I have one that I bought used in the mid 1960s, and thought that Bacon was its own entity then.)
meredith how you get to be so awesome?
A hell of a lot of hard work I suspect 😉
I've listened to this so many times that I've lost count. Thanks.
I'm back for my 777th time I think
Wow! She never ceases to amaze me with her diverse repertoire. So good 🪕🎶
Pretty girl, awesome banjo playing, great song, perfectly sung
Wonderful. Makes me happy to listen to this. Fingers on her right hand loose and more limber than instructor say to do it.
Still here. Love this one forever. Much respect.
The tone of the long neck + her playing + her singing + this song = beyond beautiful 🩵🪕🎶
Absolutely beautiful version. I had to go hear the original. You've done a great job with this song.
Powerful. That's what music is suppose to be...... Yeah!!!!!!
Can't stop listening to this! So beautiful! And that long neck is cool! I've always wanted one.
How many frets do they usually have?
Great work, great vocals and banjo playing!!!
Pressed 'Like' ten times, but still only shows as one..LIIIIIIKE!!
Absolutely beautiful. Will be working on this one. Richard is an artist as well. Thanks.
You should sing with Mae Estes. Y'all would have harmonies almost as good as family!!!
Lovely song. Very talented.
Loved this !
Excellent bravo
I wonder, do you know how good you are? You are really really good.
Stellar and Epic sounding💖
That long neck sounds sublime. This vid could be a daily thing for me for a while. Nice job !
Sounds great you have a beautiful voice
Sooo beautiful
Beautiful song and rendition - can’t wait to see you perform live in May!

So great
🥾💓🥾
Wow!!
you are an inspiration!
Love this!
The nice thing about that there banjo is that it not only sounds great, but doubles as a pole vault if you gotta jump over a bush or something.
consider yourself "liked" AND "subscribed!"
Impressive right hand technique - looks odd, but boy does it sound great!
...from Poland. Bravo !!!
Banjo babe i enjoy her
...... !

The coolest kid in school
Erm... what's that supposed to mean?
beautiful work, never heard this one before. what's that line in the first verse: still got a drop of *what* on your tongue?
you still got a drop of that new southern wales on your tongue... a friend of mine was living in new south wales...
Wow! From the source. This is a great cover of a really great song. I picked up the album and have been listening to it on repeat this week.
@@brendanmaxcy4665 What album? I'll get it!
@@Jrhnhemp Check out Richard Inman on band camp. Great songwriter and musician.
is that a jar of weed lol nice
Nope. It's a hornet's nest and some pinecones.

I say yours is the better version
I'm gonna have to disagree, personally, and I don't think it matters. Both versions are very different.

@@meredithmoon I'd agree.
@@richardinman9575 hahahaha!
Meredith could you please post up some tabs for this song?
Best Regards
+TheLastlatvian Sorry buddy, I don't know how to read or write tabs :/ tune your banjo in eflat or try it in G and ear it out!
