That beautiful sound of big end bearings running dry and timing gear about to let fly haha.....like to see a holden engine do that and still drive home!!!
Fuel consumption? Legit question... Would this engine still be ok for work truck that has to cover 800-1200km, one way, for work tasks as well as going virtually anywhere at remote locations for other work tasks?
I see a lot of these v8 hilux. I'm in the states, I have a couple 94 yota's I like to see it can hold up to some fun What's the budget man, I have a good toyota mechanic
Yeah good fun alright. i didnt do the conversion but ive been told there isnt too much to it, couple of custom engine mounts, bell housing, sump, electrical work. Look up this web site, they know these conversions back to front, thecartunecompany.co.nz
Custom headers? Custom steering components? Custom auxiliary mounting positions? Custom g’box cross member n tail shaft? Actually, what g’box even is that, cause there is NO F’KN WAY that is a standard hilux box... I used to do 3rd or 4th gear every 12mths with standard box and measly 3.8V6, Full weight truck with 125L tank mind you. And not babied... Seriously considering building a 90-95 twin cab with either an LS series engine or a Barra engine for a ‘do it all’ truck. Might go to the 96-05 model for road manners but will require much more $$
ha ha ha typical kiwi bloke antics fuckin shit up! i have a 1uz lux myself theres nothing more fun than winding old counts up and getting up to mischief in your truck aye!
I can do this conversion but imho a stock sfa lux lacks the suspension and stability to handle that power. It should be wider, have sway bars or emu. So aftermarket suspension first. Then the proper gear ratios in both rear and front axles for the new engine. But then why not buy a different vehicle if I want V8 power and acrobatics. It wont be a lux and i want to drive a lux forever so thats the problem for me. :D
What like 170 kw at the wheels? LAME get a barra ford 6 cylinder with way more torque power and better fuel consuption Too much noise for to liitle power
That little Japanese 4.0L 1UZ-FE V8 came out in the late 80s with 195kw. More power, less weight, better fuel consumption and much more reliable than any Aussie Ford or Holden engine at the time. To this day, one of the smoothest V8s I've driven. It's up there with the later model American and Euro V8s of today. Loves the revs, who cares if it doesn't have as much power as a turbo Falcon? They're cheap as chips and sound awesome!

What are you talking about sway bars it's a leaf spring Hilux that don't have them

Can't even spell "cylinder". Hahaha
+Peter Forbes. whoops mistakes happen indeed! but at least a spelling mistake isnt as big of a mistake as a V8 with no power troll!!!

Also not really too much space in a lux engine bay
Yep , best damned engine Ford ever built , will last forever and are cheap to run , because the motor runs best in the low rev range .
fuckyeah! what ecu?
