2015 Subaru Outback. 2" Lift Kit, Primitive skid plates, 245/65/17 BFG KO2 Tires. amzn.to/2JOH5YN (affiliate link)
Music: "So Long" by Maine
You really can't go wrong with Subaru. I just barely bought my 2017 Outback and I just cannot stop driving. Loving i!
Mike Ibuyan how has it held up? I’m in the market for used one.
Holy shit. This is CRAZY impressive!!!!!. So cool this wagon can do this. Shows was amazing tires can do!
Beautiful part of the world, finally somebody did proper review about what Outback is all about, Good on you mate.
fucking awesome dude. loved the intro. your Subaru goes where other Subaru's don't dare. haha
Well done. Probably the best off road video that I have seen for the new outback. Nice music and well filmed. Superb. Thanks a lot :)
Thank you! It was a lot of fun making it. Look forward to making many more. (:
Thumbs up just for the tape player.
loved the video buddy. happy I could help film some of it.
Anthony Cress I just bought one for my wife and we love it
I just recently lifted my Outback and just watched your vid . You earned a new subscriber and thumbs up for the cassette player ..👍
Thank you!
Just got one of these two weeks ago. Brilliant car. Hope to keep it many years.
Watching this in ‘22 and am amazed that Subaru had this in ‘16 and now has upped the anti with the wilderness.
Off road tyres - right on dude, you treat your car right, and it treates you back :)
Enjoyed it a bunch! Thanks, Bruce. I have a 2013 Outback and love to drive the woods, but I'd be chicken to do what you did! I Had a 2007 Forester which I was crazy about and gave it to my daughter. I beat the crap out of it but never seemed to phase it one bit! Great cars, those Subarus!
yep, the big problem of older Subarus is it transfers more power for wheel wich has not connection with the surface, it's good for standard driving, but in terrain is useless :( In newer models i see it is prooved that makes Subaru great car again, thanks for movie :)
hell yeah! i just pick up the 2014 model haven't gone off road yet but looking forward to it. nice vid
Have you gone yet?
Well, that was slightly awesome! Liked, subscribed......and now wanting tires like yours.
Imagine an Outback with solid axles. Unstoppable.
Love it. Long life to your Subie!
Shaniqua 52-leben Thank you. Peace and long life!
Love the old cassette player. Amazing where you take that Outback too.
Thanks! The cassette is an obscure reference that I figured maybe 1 percent of people would get.
I like putting such things in my "produced" videos as kind of easter eggs. This one was just obvious since it was the first thing shown. Lol
Nice Video. Im looking at purchasing a new vehicle and the Subaru 3.6 Outback is one of my options. The other is the Toyota Highlander AWD. This video really shows what this car is capable of.
Thank you for providing this great video!!
Thank you for watching and giving feedback! This is just the 2.5, the 3.6 would likely be faster!
You might like watching my other videos for how it handles snow, as well.
Love the song! Can't seem to find it anywhere unfortunately. Anyways, great video and awesome wagon! I hope to do something similar with my 08 outback.
My driveway was this bad too. Even though we drive Subaru's as well, i decided to buy a driveway grader for in the three point hitch of the tractor. Now people that do not drive a Subaru can get to our house as well.
Hey bud. I saw your other videos of you climbing in Colorado. Cool stuff man! I've seen other videos showing the Outback literally stopping and doing nothing while going up steep hills. was this because the Xmode is so intrusive or do they just not have the torque to go up a steep hill? I'm planning on buying the Outback 3.6R. What are your thoughts?
Not Enough Torque. At 13,000 feet elevation on a 4 cylinder model calculations put me at around 90 HP at the crank. I don't think it was X-Mode or even the CVT's fault.
Super! Great outdoors! Great car!
This video has some of the best examples of Subaru AWD I've seen! *thumbs up*
I have a '15 XTrek, I wish I had trails like that in my area of SW OH.
For your low mpg highway, have you tried adding 2psi or so to the tires? Non-stock tires sometimes need non-stock pressures to ride right. The larger tires on the Charger I used to have ran great at 40 psi. Don't exceed the psi rating on the sidewall.
Thank you!
If you want to take it out on trails like this, try searching for "jeep trails near me" or "4x4 trails nearby"
It's how I found the trails featured in this video!
Balancing on 2 wheels...advanced skills!!!
I also have an outback that I love to take romping through the muddy trails. my only problem is what you faced here in this video. you get her up on 2 wheels and the engine struggles to get her moving. not quite enough horse power even with the traction controle off. other than that she's amazing
Shoulda bought a 4Runner... ;D
Do you air down? What pressure?
But then I'd be stuck driving a 4 Runner. ... :D
I air down to 20-25 on these KO2's and the AT3's.
damn! I don't think anything can stop that thing. oh yeah.. stupidity! some guys here just do stupid shit but most times the Suby saves them. awesome car...truly awesome. I have a Suby as well. I will ALWAYS have one.
Sweet video! You should put more mods in the video description tho :) Like primitive sump guard, and rear diff protector just to mention what I saw in the vid! :) Will be doing a 2-ish inch lift on my Forester, as soon as get the lift blocks cut at work.
Good call! I listed the tires and lift but not the primitive plates. I'll add them now.
Nice! Only had my car since fall, and both of those are on my to-do list :) so I couldn't help noticing. Think I will be DIY-ing it tho, since im on a rather tight budget after both a clutch/flywheel replacement, and timing belt/waterpump during the last few months, still love the car, so much fun to drive (2004 FXT)
you the man!!!!! keep it safe and have fun.
Oh man you chilling good vs your Subaru👍😎 nice video
fantastic videos all the times !! wich color is the car ? wich equipment ? have you already tested the autamatic brake system ?.
thank you for the future answers and sorry for my bad englihs.
Has the lift given you any issues since? Been thinking about lifting mine 1”, maybe 2”. I don’t wheel often, it’d be nice to have the clearance...although 1-2” isn’t much. Maybe just skid plates
No issues
Nice vidio.Nice driving.Nice Subaru!
Thank you Sir! I have a lot of fun making these. Lotsa folks seem to like watching them, too.
Awesome video! This near Masontown? Looks like where we used to hang out during college.
Parts of it yup! The bridge that goes over Blue Hole is shown.
I think is what I'm going to do next election day when I get my Outback :)
Dude that undercarriage video shot is soooo sweet!
Good job I love my 12 Outback
Awesome vehicle!
Loved the video. I own an outback but rarely get it off-road. I love the song but am unable to identify and locate it. Your description says "So Long" by Maine, but that returns no results and Shazam is unable to identify it.
It's only available here bubby.
Him: *puts cassette in cassette player*
Me(with a 2002 subaru outback with a built-in cassette player): Man, I gotta shit
Subaru the best car..
Super Auto, and Forester. Subaru!!!!!!!
I believe the BF Goodrich tyres perform a lot better than the stock one. Are they in 18 inch?
+T Yik They sure do. The tire size is 245/65/17
2.5i right? Also awesome video!
Yes sir! thanks! I had a lot of fun making it.
Yes sir! thanks! I had a lot of fun making it.
Awesome, I have a '13 2.5i 2" lift from sumo as well. I love it! plan to add some other accessories to it as well, skid plates, bull bar, rock sliders, etc. I can't wait!
Post the video here when you get it out. Looking forward to it.
I probably will put up videos. I just need to learn how to edit and post them up.
Im considering a 17 this same color.. u might just have made me pull the trigger!
So? Did you get one?
very good video
What brand and size of tires do you have and do you like them for off road?
Jeff Rogers 245/65/17 BFG KO2. good off road! Probably the best available for the car. Awful mileage. Highway ride is really not bad.
Do you ever collaborate with anyone with your music? You have some good songs. Let me know...
I really love this song! Is there where I can find a link?
Unfortunately, no. This is a friend's high school band and the only version I am aware.
Compared to the stock tires; how is the ride quality, responsiveness, and most importantly noise, with those BFGs?
Just drove to Utah and am driving back to WV now. They did great. power at altitude was the biggest problem. There is slightly more noise, But less noisy than my snow tires.
+bruceyyyyy I've got the Limited, and haven't been too impressed with the noise from the stock tires. I gotta convince the old lady we need some of these on ours 😎
love the videos btw, keep em coming!
+Joseph Sanders if you have the 4 cylinder, I'd recommend sticking with stock size if you plan high altitude. We climbed black bear pass (12,000 feet) yesterday and I was standing on the gas pedal just to make the car do 5 mph. Every little bit of gearing will help in that situation. Below 6000 feet I've never had this problem.
+bruceyyyyy oh damn, stuff you don't think about near sea level! Yeah, we've got the 2.5. I'll be sticking to stock size for sure.
+Joseph Sanders And yes, they'll be a video! Will just be a few weeks until I sort all the footage and me and the wife have time to edit.
Thanks for the compliments!
Sweeeeet!!! Nice driving man!!! Do you lift it?
Yup! It's got a two inch lift.
Nice video.
Cool! Did you wash the underside? And how?
Desperate4changing I ran it through an automatic wash with underside spray.
that is incredible for an all wheel drive and not 4 wheel drive. is that a 4 or 6 cylinder engine
Subarus have some of the most advanced AWD in the car industry.
what brand lift is that? Also, the tape player is awesome!
Anderson Fabrication.
Thank you!
How long did the kit take to install?
About a half day.
bruceyyyyy How many inches the lift kit?
I need to find some of these subie safe trails...
How's the highway ride quality with the bigger tires and 2" lift compare to stock?
The 2" lift made no difference in ride quality. A bit looser when slaloming.
The tires did make a difference, it wasn't awful but it was noticeably worse. Likely from being so heavy. Way worse mileage as well. I only run these tires when off road and have a normal street set for every day use.
nice! thanks man!
Best option for the outback after much research is downsizing to 17 inch wheels, unless you have the diesel 2.0 that comes with them, and opting for 235/65 not 245/65 though either size is good. Smaller rims means slightly better torque, no need to remove mud flap and if you choose mid all terrains AT/S not MUDs, the difference is negligible. Love the improvement with AT tyres And love the outback,!
Is that Outback suspension lifted?
Mauricio Castro 2" lift
Just asked haha.
You replace any CV axles?
Класно сняли, мне интересно мой аутбек 2004г 3.0 так сможет или на новой субаре привод лучше?
Извините, но я не уверен, что вы просите. Мой русский довольно беден.
Hi Bruce, Can you give me any info about screwed bodywork? Thank you.
Sure, what questions do you have?
@@bruceyyyyy hi Bruce Thank you, I'd like to know the movement of the fifth door in one air tire.
I am sorry I'm not understanding what you're asking. Could you rephrase?
@@bruceyyyyy I am mean this : ua-cam.com/video/ta49K2LFCzk/v-deo.html
Is it ok now?
Thank you
Oh I see now. I never opened the door while having the wheels in the air like that.

Мой переводчик плохо. Я не понимаю вопроса.
what in the world were you thinking at 1:54? Nice driving man!
+sean matthews Thanks! We went up that path but it didn't actually go anywhere, so I ended up having to back out. I could have found a better line though, as the pucker factor was high on that maneuver!
What size tires are you running here? And is it lifted by chance?
245/65/17 KO2 (currently for sale as I got new wheels)
2" ADF lift.
Was the lift necessary to fit that size tire?
No actually. Just wanted it so I wouldn't bottom out when getting to the camp sites.
oh sweet! What kind of life is left on the tires?
8-9/32nds.
Comes with wheels and TPMS.
Here is the listing if you're interested.

same stock rims with bigger tires right?
awesome!
Is it lifted? Buying a outback soon debating on a lift.
Yup
@@bruceyyyyy how are your CV axles handling? Replace any?
@@coltonk7591 70k and no issues with axles or bearings. I have broken a set of end links though.
Oh dang how did you do that
@@coltonk7591 Likely due to the lift kit.
It's nice! But it gets annoying when Subaru owners have a certain hubris like Prius owners have, thinking they can put them on the same level as true 4X4 body on frames. It's just ridiculous. But your video is nice!
Luke Skywalking thanks! I don't think it's as good as a Jeep Rubicon. I am just showing what a soccer mom station wagon can and can't do.
Watching on Election Day 4 years later lol
I'm still mudding instead of caring.
Don't you worry. (:
I love
any issues when turning with this bigger tires ?
No issues. just drove to Ouray CO and back.
k I'll in
Any tire rubbing?
Not with these.
how outback driving on speed? is some difrent?
The Outback drives great at speed. The highway drive is almost as good as many luxury brands. I can comfortably drive for 1000 miles / 1500 Kilometer in this car. The tires I have on this video cause slightly harsher ride and more noise, but still very comfortable.
+bruceyyyyy my subaru 2015 in this moment is 78k km. and i think what will be if i lift him :)? will be diferent or no?
I lifted it with Anderson Design Kit. 2 Inch Lift Kit.
It handles the same since it's a 'body' lift.
What kind of tires are you running and what size are they
jeep4x4black 245/65/17 BFG KO2
bruceyyyyy any modifications needed to get them to fit right and is there any rubbing
jeep4x4black the front mud flaps need removed. I also have a 2"lift.
I had Yokohama Geolander AT/S 235/65 on new 17 inch alloys fitted recently and drove 2000klms on quite harsh rocky roads in north western NSW Australia. Quite remote areas, through the Sturt desert also. Tyres are amazing as with stock bridgestones always have 1 or two punctures. These tyres are brilliant, give the car a tough look and I couldn't be happier. No punctures perfect. With 235/65 and 17 inch wheels, no mods required and great comfortable ride. My third Subaru ( I gave the 2007 Liberty 3.0 a hard time on similar roads). Love this car, x mode is awesome. Took my wife on some scary steep roads up and down( even I was crapping myself) and it didn't have any problems. Love your video, great music choice. Thanks for posting.
Bernie!
K Lor Feel the Bern!
Any check engine lights after this video or some flooding from the bottom?? That what happened to me anyway. 😏
INSTACRUISING Never had a check engine light. Only the tire sensor light from stitching the wheels around.
How deep was the water?
bruceyyyyy water wasn't even close close to what you had on this video 😏 Not sure what happened. Some folks from the subaruoutback forum has very similar issue when some time ago they had some flooding in Texas (not today's flood of course).
Anyway, thank for taking the time to reply and I hope I won't have this problem again.
I do would like to lift my Subaru just like yours. Was it expensive? What parts did you use?
Thanks a lot for any info. Once again great video.
INSTACRUISING Lift is from Anderson design. I just uploaded a how to on how it installs. It's a long but fairly simple process. Maintains factory ride. It was around 600 I think.
What problems did the dealer say? The evap canister?
bruceyyyyy awesome. I'll check it out. If I won't find the video I'll probably will ask you for the link.
It was exactly evap canister. Is that normal? Is there any some sort of protection I can put on this canister (I guess it would kinda kill the purpose of it 😎, but something in between)?
Thanks again for the reply.
the tyres are bigger than stock right?
Correct.
Stock is 225/65R17.
These are 245/65R17.
you mean "wider" but not bigger or taller...since both 65 are the same, same tire aspect ratio
+7150285 It's my understanding having a wider tread with the same aspect ratio is still a slightly larger size since the ratio is based on the tread width.
ah, oh ok I didn't thought of that. That's true though lol. What part of VW was this at? I've been to Coalwood and Welch before, I visited Homer Hickam's hometown.
Yes it is bigger, I just calculated it, you are 1inch bigger than stock (from about 28.5 to 29.5). This means your odometer and speedometer will be off slightly. Can you tell us by how much?
Coool
круто
Спасибо
Good video, but no music would have been better.
Yah I have learned that no music is better since no one likes the same thing.
Can you transfer me that song ? Plz
Джигиты там на Лада седан баклажан проедут !
great video subie brother
Tape player...what year is this?? 1983?
Lol.
Bamford Steele Close. 1984. I had to make a pit stop at outer heaven.
My lawnmower can do all this..... lol
I'd like you a lot more if you didn't have affiliate links. So close to almost understanding the entire POINT OF THE INTERNET but not quite there like me.
I stand alone in not urinating all over the spirit of the internet here on youtube. ALONE.
Is your icon Netscape?
@@bruceyyyyy Maybe.™
Well I'm gonna load up the BBS and IRC to confirm... Standby.
Still trying to level up my character in Arctic MUD. Pixies keep stealing my stuff.
@@bruceyyyyy If you were there, you'd know how offensive dollar signs and commercialization are on the internet.
Napster, G4TV, Kazaa, etc. It's all just commercialization for commercializing sake.
We had the beginning of something great and the venture capitalists swooped in to "save" the day.
Now it's all pretty much anything "Web 2.0" banded which in itself is old enough to drive.
Napster, Kazaa, Game FAQ, something awful, YTMND, eBaums, etc
We lost the good ones a long time ago. It's all long gone. We're all just folk now.
BERNIE!
would be better without the SJW music
Subaru AWD fail at 1:00 when it wouldn't accelerate until the wheel is turn to straight. Typical Asymetrical failure.
I'm not sure on that actually. I was really babying the throttle trying to get the X Mode to clearly activate.
I'll have to check other footage I have to see if it does not operate when turning.
has the driving changed when u lifted it ?
Ride quality/ smoothness is the same, but it's ever so slightly longer in the cornering.
