Well America, there you go. You were warned. But you didn't listen. It's now June 2019 and look at the mess America is in and it's far from over. In fact, it's likely going to get a lot worse before the Donald Trump era finally ends in America. I hope Ken Burns lives long enough to document just how bad it got, if not, it caused a second Civil War in America.

What America are you living in ? Sad so many folks got sucked into the hatred spewed by the Left and the MSM. It’s 2021 and how’s things going for you now? Russian building up forces, N Korea launching missiles again, boarder crisis, Israel and Palestinian conflicts, trillions of dollars in debt....tell me, what was so awful about the Trump era other than the hatred spewed by MSM and the Left?

    The advice ua-cam.com/video/WtnXbL2wwdM/v-deo.html
    - If someone tells you they have been sexually assaulted take it f***ing seriously
    - Try not to make the other wrong before something
    - Be curious not cool
    - Feed your soul everyday
    - Remember insecurity makes liars of us all
    - Don't confuse success with excellence (careerism is death)
    - Don't descend too deeply into specialism either - educate all of your parts
    - Free yourself from the limitations of the binary world (it's just a tool, a means not an end)
    - Seek out and have mentors - listen to them - we are looking for ideas large enough to be afraid of
    - Bite off more than you can chew
    - Travel (visit national parks)
    - Insist on heros
    - Read - Book is still the greatest man-made machine
    - Make babies - one of the greatest things that will happen to you is you will have to worry about someone else
    - Don't loose your enthusiasm - root of the word enthusiasm is god in us
    - Serve your country - convince your government to fight the right wars
    - The real threats come from within this favored land
    - Insist we support science and arts (arts make our country worth defending)
    - Believe that maybe you too could add something that would last and be beautiful

I agree with every word. But the problem is not Trump. The problem is this country needs to come to terms with the fact that a large portion of the population of this country want policies to enforce their racial and religious prejudices. This is their number one concern over any other issue and fact or truth will make no difference to them.

    • @rspro575

@@rspro575 I agree with you, but still say Trump is not the problem. In fact, the best thing he did was expose his followers for what they truly are. The fact that Trump is a dumpster fire and still get the support that he does shows that the number one issue for them is are their prejudices.

Burns takes the opportunity to "educate" us all on his politics. No matter how one feels about Trump, Biden, Pelosi, etc. etc. commencement speeches should not political. It's always about the supreme egoism of the speaker, who knows that the other side has no chance to answer back. Burns takes the opportunity here to further divide rather than unite. This was a shameful moment - and with the complicity of Stanford of all places - supposedly a bastion of fair debate and exchange of ideas.
