Watching this video was so relaxing. :) I've been paying our team's engine guru to do the work and while it's always been done well, it is expensive to do two engines, twice a year. I actually thought this would be much harder but it seems pretty straight-forward after watching this. For 2/3rds the cost of one service I can get a kit and do it my engines myself (since I do pretty much everything else on them).
How crucial is replacing valves and springs to the performance of the engine? I just bought a used kart that's had some good use in its lifetime and I'm not sure if the valves or head assembly have ever been replaced or maintenanced.

I am glad we could help out!
Love this video! We need more like it!!
Thank you Shawn
How often would you recommend changing the valve springs out? Only when doing a cut and lap?
Thanks for the great video! Quick question… What size are your cutters?
Thank you, the cutters are 1" 45 degree and 30 degree. Part numbers CU126 and CU122
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. How often do you check valve guide clearances and how often do you replace them? Cheers.
I have not run into a need to replace the guides yet. It is good practice to check them if you have the right tools.
Note to self....buy spring compressor tool!!
How do you know that you have zero leakage with just using the cutters and not checking leaking down?
One more question: do you reuse cylinder head bolts? Thank you!

If you are not sure. I would rebuild the head. You can normally tell if the seats are to sealing with a visually inspection.
Another question…Are you using the same angle die on both the intake and exhaust even when they are different diameters?
Yes we are using the same tool for both intake and exhaust. The cutter is adjustable
@@629racing Awesome. Thank you for the info.
How often do you do this to the valve seats? Then how many times can you grind the seats before the head will need to be replaced?
Bob I normally do not have to do the valves again unless we put a lot of heat in the head.
he should be just lapping them not cutting so much...in my humble opinion!
Hi, could you tell me where to buy the cutters suitable for the valves?
We bought ours from EZbore.net. It does not look like there site is up anymore.
Great Video!
I ported mine & added a blue coil
Which hole is the lifter bore?
If you follow the pushrods down they will be sitting on top of the lifters.
My opinion is that if you a are going to show people how to rebuild anything you should have the tools to do it.
