Tadano interests me as a character. Like, I agree with him ideologically, and we generally share the same desire for the future. But his methodology is... Not great. Rather than rallying the people to create change themselves while providing the resources needed for them to do it, he's just sort of forcing expectations on to others and trying to do everything himself. Whether he intends it or not, he presents himself as sort of a higher-than-thou ruler who knows what's best for the working class, which... Is not chill. And those character flaws really show in his relationship with Retsi. While it seems like he has good intentions, the results of his actions are to baby Retsi into a state of passiveness. He isn't really encouraging her to have her own agency, stand up for herself, communicate with others... If anything he's sheltering her, which leaves her vulnerable to potential abuse. He needs to get on the level of the average person, understand their struggles, and work to get society at large on board with him, rather than trying to drag them along. Only then could he truly work to create the world he desires. Otherwise he's just taking away jobs and leaving people confused and broke.
I agree on you to the extent, but he WAS trying. For example, he took driver’s ed classes to see how easy it is to get a driver’s license. He didn’t understand basic instructions such as turning left to make sure you won’t hit a motorcycle. Tadano wants to do things his way or no way at all. Kinda has a Steve Jobs creativity with a mixture of Bill Gates’s manipulative methods.

It can't really be communism because that system still requires people to work. What he wants seems to be a world where labor is entirely optional for everyone to the point that absolutely no one has to work if they don't want to. That's not really an economic system at all since economics are how we put value on labor.
As a centrist, I always thought the only way communism would ever become a thing is through technological progress. A.Is and robots basically taking care of us. A long shot by all means which could turn in some kind of Skynet I suppose, but there's always the slight chance it might turn out good. So I believe he's on the right track and I could get behind his motives, frankly.
Hadn't Marx himself actually stated something along the lines of that? Where a fully-realized and "True" Communism would only be achievable if technology would effectively handle more menial labor? I feel like I may have read that...
