I still say Jon Snow was the prince that was promised. He might of didn't kill the Night king himself, but he united the North, convinced Dany to join, and rode one of the Dragons. He was the leader into the fight against the dead. Also one of the hotd trailers tells the prince who was promised came from the Targaryen line. While I was wanting a better looking Daemon, Matt Smith's portrayal of him had me tripping out. Especially him provoking Otto Hightower. @@ComicCrossing it would be too predictable I believe. It made sense for Arya to kill the Night King after her training and the red woman's comments to her about shutting blue eyes. I thought it was poetic. Now that I learned of the dagger's importance, Aegon's dream from HOTD and the King's comments to his daughter at the end of episode one in HOTD, did they ever get it so wrong in season 7 and 8. The whole purpose of the Iron Throne was to unite everyone to fight the dead. Therefore, that should have been more of the conclusion and not reclaiming the Iron Throne from Cersei. If I was writing it, I would have let Dany reclaim the Iron Throne from Cersei first, married her to Jon Snow, they fight the Night King all united, and Dany die while in the final battle against the dead. I always felt like she was going to die in a battle, but not due to her going mad. They also shouldn't have revealed Jon's parentage to him until after they were married, maybe not until she was dead. Bran should have kept that to himself for a while until everything was set. I initially thought that Jon Snow was going to destroy the Iron Throne with Drogos fire after he was appointed King, only by his order though, not in the manner on the show. Anyways, that's how I would have done all that now that I saw the end of episode one.

When GoT does Jousting you really feel like this IS what Jousting truly means. On the 1v1 duel you saw all these little real fighting moves and seeing the power of the flail to break armor and shields looked great. The medieval medicine childbirth scene is what pissed off social media but seriously if you read books all that shit WOULD have and could have happened. And its not like the king felt joy that his wife was dead or anything, the king (I gotta learn these names too) he was in massive grief having to make a decision that would be the worst anyone could ever make. Childbirth used to be this awful all the time which is one big reason why religion existed and stayed around, how can you live a day when your wife could be cut open and bleed to death, you pray to anything and any god to not have that happen, beg on your knees to not experience that.

People assumed it would be tyrion, but jaimes character arc and him being the kingslayer implied he would become the queenslayer and kill his sister to who went mad. Never happened.

Fire and blood is a history book of westeros. It covers almost 200 years of history so it starts 300 years prior to GOT. House of the dragon is something like 4 chapters from within that history book. So it's not the begining or the end of that book but a contained story within it.

The thing I loved the most about this pilot, is the way they portray some obvious archetypes. Daemon is a perfect example of this. The ambitious brother scheming at taking the throne for his own at any cost... Except that's not what we saw. Daemon had plenty of moments where he could have simply confirmed to the same familiar tropes we've all seen by killing that knight after he loses in the jousting match, but he doesn't. He takes his loss and moves on, because he is not a monster and I loved that. Even the conversation with his brother he has before basically being banished is out of genuine care for his brother. He tells him he is weak not out of hate, but rather out of necessity and he is 100% right. The two brothers alone already has this series off to an impeccable start.

In GOT s1e1 Joffrey was already established as a prick, Tyrion as an intellegent yet looked upon 'joke', Cersei was reserved, arya didn't want to follow rules, Robert was a swine.... The only character that has a bit of personality is Daemon. I mean Rhyneara and Alicent are basically the same, just as Corlyn and the maester.

the show also really neutered the magical storylines, bc they in and of themselves couldve been intwined with the politics: the ethno-religious tension between the first men and andals, the faith of the north vs the seven (the faith of the seven is openly hostile to the northern religion in the books). and how the faith of the north is related to the white walkers, the children of the forest, and the possibility the walkers are the children's revenge, stayed by an old contract between the kings of winter and the children of the forest/old gods. years of cultural decay by the andals/southerners decayed the agreement and is why the walkers are plotting and prodding for an invasion of the north, a reconquest if its the children calling them down

Not sure I agree with you. In the books, magic is basically not understood, with unpredictable results that may or may not have anything to do with the magic, and more false practitioners than actual ones. Magical races are even known about less. Martin put on a masterclass in diversion about magic. I think the GOT show made it far more concrete than the books ever did. Martin makes sure that you know little to nothing about the past races and their motivations because nobody around does know their past or motivations, and he wants to keep the reader in the dark and force them to draw their own conclusions. Always liked that about the world he created. There is a real loss of knowledge happening as time progresses.

In GOT the violence was chilling and mysterious (The massacre of the wildings and encounter with white walker), or about honor (like beheading that deserter.) It is a clear refelction of the episode's setting which is the North. In HOTD, it primarily takes place in King's Landing... the violence is more pronounced, wild, horrifying, and excessive and even a little bit political. A clear refelction of life in the capital.
