The Actions of UK Special Forces dog: Kuno | April 2019
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- In April 2019, Kuno, a Belgian Malinois embedded into the United Kingdom Special Forces, deployed with his handler on a joint UK-Afghan operation against a compound in Afghanistan. Just over a year later, it was announced by the Ministry of Defence that he was to be awarded the P.D.S.A. Dickin Medal for his actions during the operation. This is his story.

Great Video
However, I do have a question.
When can we expect to see a video on the Beslan School Siege (September 2004)? I know it's a very dark event in modern Russian history and in the larger global War on Terror but so many people are unaware of this.
Nice video and very informative and very entertaining and very satisfaction 😊.
@@Trenex1000 agreed. I remember when that happened, absolute bloodbath. Unfortunately was never going to end any other way. Doesn't get talked about much in western media though.

That's why I want this UA-cam channel to cover it. I didn't know about this terrorist event until 2015 (I think). Take a guess I found out about it...
I found out about it through a video game.
Dogs are very important they're considered like a soldier, one from the raid was killed in 2015 he received the legion d'honneur
They get their own badge number and photo id card within the police.
There is a campaign being run at the moment for those who injure police dogs and horses in the line of duty, to recieve the same sentences as they would if they had attacked a human officer.
Theb again, sadly in the UK those who assault Emergency Service workers, and even those who have killed a police officer in cold blood are handed pathetically weak sentences by the judiciary...
He deserved that medal he paid the ultimate price to protect the team and he's a credit and hero to you're country! 🏴🇬🇧👍🇲🇫

@@ms16648 It isn't my choice but it's a real fact.
Good boy. Reminds me of the story of Benno, but unfortunately he didn't get to come home. It's stories like these that demonstrate why and how dogs got to be man's best friend.
But also demonstrate how the favour is not always reciprocated.

It's breaks my heart that over 4000 of these fearless and fiercely loyal K9s were left behind when the US pulled out of Vietnam.
Heaven only knows what the Vietnamese people did with them after they were abandoned 😔

"Oh your dog retrieves your morning paper? Thats cute"
ha good one
Mine doesn’t even do that the lazy shite

That’s very flippant and an insult to this truly brave and selfless dog!!
I hope you never have to rely on a dog like Kuno!!!
The best decision mankind ever made was welcoming wolves into our caves

That's a really clever comment .love that
I adore the idea of an official “Medical Discharge” for a dog and that there is a specific medal equivalent to Victorian cross for animals specifically
Who Dares Wins, Kuno! I got emotionally attached to our dogs while I was in the 75th RR. They are workhorses and see what we see, carry the same scars. I'm glad he was re-homed and allowed to retire and live out his life. Thanks for the story.
in every picture of Kuno in Afghanistan he either looks like hes on the job or happy as can be, he is a perfect soldier and a damn good pupper
He is happy. he's with his 'pack leader' and has lots of space to run around in, he has no concept that doing what he is trained to do MAY end up with him in a lot of pain or even dead.
Great idea, mate. As a former service member and caretaker of working dogs I really enjoyed this episode.
A mans best friend, that bond a soldier has crosses over to its K9, an amazing, brave action by Kuno, deservedly getting the recognition he deserves. I Love it that he was medically discharged like any wounded soldier. Big thank you to all that serve 🙏🏼
One badass working dog, so loyal to their handler, will fight to the death to keep his troops alive, I'm glad to hear he received great care and rehab programs to be able to function with his prosthetic legs, they'll do all this just to get some loving attention from their handler, I hope his medal ceremony goes well, he's earned it, may he enjoy his retired years, sending love from across the pond. 💙
A beautiful dog. A true and loyal companion. Wishing you a long and happy retirement! Well done Kuno!
Good looking fellow there, besides being a total badass and fearless.
Besides? As well...! You know you’d better say “good boy”!
Highest praise to Kuno, his handler and the health workers who helped him, as well as the heroic boys of the Regiment. We are proud of you all, and please give Kuno a treat from me!
I'm happy yoou present the stories of those fighters too!
Seriously these videos do not get enough attention, they are extremely well made, all facts and straight to the point. Well told and incredibly interesting stories. Keep up the great work!

What a AMAZING dog just shows you how brave these dogs are
Dogs of war, respect ✊
Reassuring to see the welfare of these magnificent dogs is still important even after they've completed active service. Great little vid, thanks for posting.
Thank you Kuno!
Excellent. He's one of the team, just like everyone else.
While watching this, from the moment I heard he was hit I was legit hoping it didn't end with him dieing. This could just as easy be a story of a human SF trooper, storming an entrenched MG & engaging in hand to hand (or paw to hand) combat, being wounded in both legs & continuing the fight, what a legend, & I bet Kuno would of been satisfied to do all that he did for a simple "that's a good boy" from his best m8 his "handler". Thanks for bringing us this story, more recognition for the dogs (& other animals) that serve & have served in the Armed forces around the world.
Greatly like, enjoy and appreciate this channel. No bull, no fluff, no showmanship. Just the true story and facts related without any biases. Great channel.
Kuno is a True Hero! Being a K9 Handler has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Rest in Peace Murphy, you were the best boy ever.
Major respect that they not only saved him, but gave him world class medical care and treated him like a soldier should be treated. Im sure the care he recieved wasnt cheap, and even tho they knew he wouldnt be an asset for them or they had no use for him anymore, they didnt give up or forget about him. Major respect!
SALUTE
He didn't hesitate. He didn't give up after being hit. He's a true warrior. He definitely did his ancestors proud.
Much respect.
Good boy
true heroes best friend dog kuno and his handler partner thankyou services in saving lives.remembred never forgotten.
This is so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing these heroic stories.
Kuno... and Conan. Can we just take a moment to appreciate these warriors!. Bless these dogs. Doing the job that 99% of the men of the country they represent won't do. Salute!!!
I had to say goodbye to my 12 year old golden retriever on the 17th of August, he was the best friend I have ever had....
So very sorry for your loss.
Yeah I can’t stomach losing another dog after mine went. Are you going to get another one? If so what kind? Male/female? Puppy or adopt?
@@BeeBopGaming thanks for the comment, I'm not making any plans at the moment, I'm still heartbroken to be fair, and with the pandemic on top of it, I don't know where I'll be living in 12 months time...

I've got a Shiba Inu named Kuno, short for Kunoichi. I'm honored that she shares the name of such a hero. I found out about this today, and it's just more than I can express. You kick ass, Kuno. Both of you.
Kuno needs a good home where he can stud and pass his hero, warrior genes to the next generation of military service dogs.
I can't think of a better retirement for a squaddie than endless shagging...agreed!

People love you or hate you, but a dog will never let you down. Just treat them how you want to be treated and he, or she, will love you forever.
Hey man, I really enjoy the channel & these videos, but this one is so far my favorite. I LOVE working dogs. So often, their contributions go overlooked. Most of the guys who've worked beside them don't think of them as tools or assets, but equals & teammates. Really cool dogs. So many great working dogs & stories out there, hope to see some more! Cheers brother!🐾🐾🐾🐾
Kuno’s face is very bravely beautiful ❤️ A true soldier & Hero dog🌸
Us British are a nation of dog lovers we do not like animal cruelty of any kind, this dog is a very brave hero of the UK and it was a well deserved medal make me proud to be British. 🏴🇬🇧👍
There is a reason why a dog is a man's best friend especially well trained dogs like Kuno who without no hesitation will always sacrifice itself for the cause just like a soldier. On this decade Kuno came home alive & it's only fair he got medically discharged & awarded such a prestigious medal for his actions.
i LOVE this dog. Im also a proud Patreon of this excellent channel.
me too
Thank you for your service Kuno!!!🙏🏻
Wow this dog is a true warrior and practically charged the enemy machine gun position while being fully exposed to enemy fire. The dog put his life at risk in order to protect his human commrads and almost died, that is true loyalty.
A total legend in every sense. I trust and pray he is put in a very good home where it’s warm & he is loved. I hope that our veterans will have significantly better care in the near future & not be forgotten.
Nothing better than an MWD team. You can hide from a bullet but not from a dog. Great video guys, thanks for posting.
Meet Kuno, Kuno has balls of Titanium, and bigger than most humans.
Love and Health to Kuno.
This channel is great, I loved the piece on Op Black Tornado and the Indian SF's. It is true and unbiased.
They give us so much.. Thank you.
A couple of ideas for new videos;
Bula Marer hostage rescue, French special forces.
Tonga Tonga ambush - Green berets in Niger Africa.
Love the channel, keep up the good work.
MASSIVE RESPECT AND LOVE TO KUNO AND THE LADS.
Excellent thank you for sharing that story
This was absolutely amazing I love this what a good brave boy he is.
I worked at a place, with enough and varied terrain, that we had several separate teams, training most weeks. When we had a break-in, i always hoped the dogmaster was working. In watching them work, the team was worth 3 or 4 people. And the K9 was faster at reading someone too. Cheers Kuno!
One of the greatest Legendary Dogs in the World ❤️❤️
Respect to the dog and for the after care!
I'm glad they took the time and care to do their best to restore Kuno. The mark of a civilised society.
I like the new thumbnails you made!! Makes your channel look more official!!
I love your videos, keep up the great work!
My neighbour had one, I've never seen any dog with that level of intelligence. Its like they are constantly evaluating the surroundings and sizing everything up. They're hard work though, they need constant stimulation.
Im not crying, im definently not having tears in my eyes now...
Did the handler stay in touch with kuno?
He has now gone to live with handler
everyone dogs in all services families true heroes past present future thankyou always remembered never forgotten heroes saving lives 24/7 .
And there are still people out there that think dogs are just animals. Thank you for your post
Hats off to a Belgium Kuno who still has 2 more legs than myself & still it shows then when fhit hits the san, as an alliance we can still come together!
Know your work is done, you've nothing more to prove & would melt most in your wake.
Stay safe mans best friend, rest up be well.
Who’s a brave lil boi protecting his fellow soldiers. You are kuno, yes you are.
the only video on youtube ive ever seen without a single thumb down, at least at the time of this remark.
came back five minutes later to see if my comment held true and there is one thumb down. probably the kind of person that makes the rest of us grin when mauled by a dog and the dog is given the highest respect for fucking you up.
The best way to get a video thumbed down is to comment that there isn't any thumb down, there will always be a guy who does it just to contradict you
@@paul123ggggggggg
I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys a good chuckle when witnessing a service dog, bet it Military, Police or Security, have a good chew on some shitbag's limbs (or throat) as for thumbs down, I can imagine just the type of individual who'd dislike a video regarding a UKSF dog taking out a Jihadi... 'nuff said.

that dog has done more in his life than i have in my entire life, losing to a dog currently. ouch

Great piece, thanks.
Wow!, what an amazing video!
What a magnificent dog!
Per usual, excellent video.
well deserved medal for a amazing and brave dog.
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Great to see a different perspective on Ops. Really heartwarming story and as usual well narrated. Thoroughly deserved gong. Any chance of a WWI tale or two, maybe on VC recipients? 👍
These dogs deserve a raise
I can't imagine how horrible a war dog endures through missions. It is a fact that they have strong sense of hearing and every fires and explosions they have to endure.
Kuno and other war fighter dog deserves the post care and awards they definitely deserved. They should also be given a chance to pro create so that their kind of breed and blood line of courageous war fighters may always be with the soldiers who have love their above and beyond service and bravery.
What an amazing pooch! Great channel. Patreon subscribed.
These dogs are truly terrifying my auntie has one and it was tiny when she first got it and now its massive and she's only had it 3 months
Ops puppers dont get enough love. I'm partial to dogs especially working dogs because they just want approval from theyre people. And theyre badass
A Brave hero above all criticism.
Go on Kuno! I love my dog and that dog handler must have been gutted to see Kuno hurt
I Love stories like this. Mans Best Friend indeed.
If only man would be friendly enough in return to not send them running into assault rifle fire.
Myes I agree with you brother. I just cant get over the courage those beautiful animals display in Danger. We need to take care of mans best friend , just like mans best friend takes care of us.🐕💪
