Just finished watching this Chinese drama on Netflix and in my opinion it’s one of the best Chinese drama I have ever watched (and I have looked at all the top rated ones with English subtitles). How to describe this drama? It was Captivating! Intriguing! Absolutely brilliant! The storyline and acting was superb. The actors brought their characters to life so much so that I felt the emotions they were displaying. I was mesmerized by their performances. Loved the political intrigues, the strong female characters. The Cinematography and costumes designs were beautiful. The makeup for the men were not overdone and more realistic. To me this was an award winning performance by both Chen Kun ( as Ning Yi) and Ni Ni (Feng Zhiwei). The chemistry between these two was awesome! I was so hooked on this drama that I watched all 70 episodes to the sad ending without fast forwarding😊. An epic performance by Chen kun! I highly recommend the viewing of this show.

They plot together to save the world and bring peace… if they really each other, they will plot to have a ending together as well. Ning Yi was not the cause of Feng Zhiwei’s father death when he was just a kid. He was a victim as well. Their love and their intend to change the country will have be a bandage on the dramatic past.
Agree it's a shame & heartbreaking that they have her choose this path. But reflecting on this further, it's not out of character for her. 1. She never really just meekly went along with his plans - she had ideas of her own. 2. Even though it seems like a marriage between the old & the new dynasties could have heal the rift - especially under leadership of these two, those around them may not be so easily satisfied & may continue to plot more feuding & bloodshed. She chose to extinguish their hope - no royal heir means no more hope of reviving the old dynasty, and no excuse for him to persecute any more of her tribe in self-defense. 3. She had chosen death before instead of marrying him or endangering him - ie the jail scene when she was sentenced for "deceiving" the emperor. Still really sad that they couldn't be happy together, ruling wisely. I think he'd also gladly forgo the tradition of royal concubines for her.
In the original novel, NingYi witnessed Feng’s suicide, her bodies was never found. Years later, King NingYi announced death because of assassination . They both fake their deaths, finally reunited and lived together as ordinary people

I think they shot two different endings, but they eventually picked the sad one because a sad and frustrating ending makes viewers remember the show longer. That's sad ☹

Я сейчас смотрю 56 серию и у меня появился страх - я боюсь плохого конца - настолько мне нравятся герои дорамы. И не только главные , хотя игра Ченя Куна и Ни Ни просто гениальна. Но там есть и другие - верный На-Ни, например, или Император так хорошо показан, что даже начинаешь сочувствовать ему, его верный слуга, а эти братья Нин И? Они так ужасны в своем стремлении к власти, но и их стремление выжить во дворце тоже можно понять.

This drama was brilliant up to the point where they moved to Jinshi & all the intrigue that takes place there. After that it was all downhill to an unsatisfactory ending. 🙁😣😖
why this scene is not in shown? It could be a good closure beacuse there is no farewell between the leader characteres and the end result abrupt in my opinion
I think they cut down some episodes of the series, like the scene the old king kneels down to Ning Yi after surviving the stab (in some behind the scenes videos you would find it) and the scene Ning Yi and Zhi Wei were together at the end in this video. I heard that due to restriction in China's airing rule about the ancient, historical series, like one TV channel can only air 110 episodes for the whole year regardless of how many series there are within that year (e.g. 1 series lasts for 70 episodes, then the other series may have only 40 episodes last) or something (I'm not in China so this info is totally unsure, I just read it somewhere when I dig in the internet to find info related to this series), the director may cut down scenes to minimize the duration of the whole The Rise of Phoenixes. That may lead to the changing in the end and the rush over the ending (I know, the opening was quite slow yet the ending was such a rush). But knowing they cut some scenes makes me believe that they changed the ending too, to make the series much shorter. The only way to impress to audience is to end one character's life/have a sad ending/etc. At the very end of the ending, it wouldn't make sense for the director the squeeze the establishment of their meet, their feeling, her being the empress, and then enough space to emphasize Ning Yi's will and ambition to better the country (because we, as the audience, all know if Zhe Wei is still alive and becomes the empress, we wouldn't care about Ning Yi's ambition anymore, all we care about is Happy Ending~~~), that will be a much more rushing ending. There's another Chinese ancient & historical series which was originally 120 episodes, when airing it was cut down to 70 episodes only. I bet the slow opening and rushing ending was due to episodes-cutting, imagine if you did all the editing for --- say 90, 100 episodes then you have to do it over again for the whole 70 episodes, you might better edit the last 30 episodes only.
If Zhe Wei were still alive and became the empress, I would still care about Ning Yi's ambition, because I feel it would also be her ambition, and would be a crucial part of the Happy Ending. I loved this series not just for the romance, but also their struggle to find the right balance in a world full of murderous ambitions, intractable blind loyalty, & injustice. What they can achieve with the villains out of the way - that most definitely would be just as delicious as a romantic happy ending.

Afy faro me too, i was devastated that after few days of lack of sleep from binge watching this drama, this is what i get... the end scene broke my heart. But here's my theory since this is only season1, maybe if the season 2 pushes through, Zhiwei will be alive in s2 and it will really be a happy ending. I am just praying that the writers have a good explanation as to why that's the s1 ending.
@@mydarla08 I know it sucks that Ning Yi and Feng Zhiwei's dedication to one another wasn't rewarded with them ending up together, but her suicide kind of makes sense. As the emperor said, if she married Ning Yi, they will eventually come to hate each other because as an emperor, Ning Yi would have to be heartless to be an effective ruler which Zhiwei would not welcome. Furthermore, as long as she lived there will always be a threat of a Dacheng uprising, no matter what she wants, which would cause Ning Yi's courtiers to resent him. Ultimately, being the kind-hearted person she is, her suicide was for the good of the people and so that Ning Yi will have an easy time governing the empire.

Such a good, exciting, dramatic, great and interesting drama to have such an ending where feng zhi Wei committed suicide is an anticlimax to a grand finale. The producers should have changed the king to die of old age. So all conflicts and grievances of the past events should be gone with his death. What's a waste to have such an ending which otherwise could be a MEMORABLE DRAMA

你这么说就错了！其实这样的结局才合情合理。在牺牲了那么多人命之后，凤知微不可能还像原著里头那样若无其事的和宁弈双宿双飞，这不是胸襟问题，这是脸皮的问题。她早在二十年前就应该以大成九皇子的身份死在山崖下！

為什麼知微要自殺 以她的性格她不該用這樣的逃避方式啊 都還沒走到未來 又怎知她跟寧奕會走向同他父王母后相同的路呢 更何況情感深厚不同啊 寧奕的父王是強取 那是單方面的愛
但她跟寧奕 他倆彼此相愛 而且她也深知寧奕不會做傷害她的事 斷不該旁人碎語就被牽著走的啊 這樣的結局好心碎啊💔
真的，自殺對於鳳知微的人設是扞格的，她並不會逃避生命的困境，她會勇敢面對。甚至她也會以天下為己任。我覺得結局可以改成兩人先把感情昇華在勤政愛民上，未來發展為開放式結局才對。
其實我覺得她跳崖是無可奈何的決擇，她和宁弈間隔著媽媽弟弟師傅哥哥以及宁弈母妃血，加上她大成遺孤的身份，朝臣不會容許這麼一個她作為天盛的皇后，她知道，宁弈知道，她明白宁弈對她的執念，不會輕易讓她走，即便兩人心中全然捨去這些芥蒂，她也不願宁弈將來為了她在護她周全與朝臣間為難，這不僅使他的帝王之位無法安穩，更難以建立兩人心中那盛世的天下。她與他間本就是場死局，既然宁弈不忍放手，便由她來替他作抉擇，故而自殺並非難以理解
她要是不死死的就是萬千百姓了，我覺得她第一集就可以死了，純粹攪事精
吳姿蓉 那些死去的亲人都跟宁弈没关系 她这么明理怎会看不清？宁弈他妈死了 她不更应该留下来陪他 至于她身份的问题其实是小事 前朝公主投靠当朝 并且嫁给当朝天子 正常 她弟弟和母亲死的时候都没有想不开 后面应该越变坚强才是 所以我感觉原著的结局不错 符合人物设定

@@mydarla08 I know it sucks that Ning Yi and Feng Zhiwei's dedication to one another wasn't rewarded with them ending up together, but her suicide kind of makes sense. As the emperor said, if she married Ning Yi, they will eventually come to hate each other because as an emperor, Ning Yi would have to be heartless to be an effective ruler which Zhiwei would not welcome. Furthermore, as long as she lived there will always be a threat of a Dacheng uprising, no matter what she wants, which would cause Ning Yi's courtiers to resent him. Ultimately, being the kind-hearted person she is, her suicide was for the good of the people and so that Ning Yi will have an easy time governing the empire.

結局縮減得有點離譜，最後鳳微自殺了結，太難看了。劇追到最後很失望。

天盛長歌畫面微美度也直追瑯琊榜。
但天盛長歌其於的劇情懸疑、起幅、角色給歡眾的期待值、看劇的爽度...
多方比較的綜合評比完全比不上瑯琊榜(1)呀...。
最後硬著頭皮看到結局，這心裡只有一句話...TMD。
瑯琊榜當季播出我可以重看3、4次...
天盛長歌麻.........F___k!!!!!可惜了這麼多超一流演員。

chuang May 个人觉得天盛长歌比较好看 琅琊榜稍微无聊了点 没有那么感人 不过天盛长歌有些地方确实不如琅琊榜 不知道是不是被剪掉关系 70集也太久了
呃...琅琊榜好看，隨便哪一個段落都可以切入來看，但是看著看著就打瞌睡了...天盛則是邊看邊哭，歷史地位，琅琊榜或許比較高，但是我心中的地位，天盛大勝
陳坤的演技是頂級的，我是從天盛長歌認識到如此優秀的演員，這片是要深入细细地去品嘗，敗筆之處是拖得太長，不够流暢，很多人不接受结尾。
Such a good, exciting, dramatic, great and interesting drama to have such an ending where feng zhi Wei committed suicide is an anticlimax to a grand finale. The producers should have changed the king to die of old age. So all conflicts and grievances of the past events should be gone with his death.
