Ed has gotta be the most well spoken person I’ve ever heard. If you don’t believe me, watch cartrek. He does a review of a car while on a racetrack, and it’s absolutely astonishing.
@@BKetch yeah I gained a lot of respect for him after learning about his faith. I remember when they were reacting to mean cartrek comments, he said one of the best things I’ve ever heard. Someone accused him of being stupid enough to vote for Trump, makes him just as dumb for believing in God. And he responded with “I don’t know who hurt you, but I’m sure it’s nothing that a smaller government and a loving Creator can’t fix” Mic drop moment right there
I met Ed at a rooftop party for Vossen wheels in Las Vegas a while back. I was a bit star struck but he is such a down to earth guy. He didn’t judge me as I stumbled over my words like a cat lady meeting Taylor Swift back stage.
He makes such a good point about turning a passion or a hobby into a business. You really get down to the nuts and bolts of what you’re doing and you start taking the fun out of it, squeezing the fun out of it. I know a lot of people did the fishing industry with charters. Kids that just love to fish and knew all the spots to catch, so decided to open up a charter business. At the end of the day their hobby turned into a life sucking business. Just something to think about. If you’re really passionate about something. It’s not always the right move to make it your full-time gig.
@@seoulmansupra ?…No, I’d argue that your very definition of a counter argument, is counter factual? In that, your comment was an example of a pointless reiteration. A counter argument, only qualifies as such, when entire premise that one responds to, doesn’t argue the very same exact point & sentiment, which they baselessly intended to counter, & yet only ended up underlining & totally agreeing with?…😖
The last 15 minutes of this were some of the best of Ed I’ve ever heard. He gets so real and gives so much wisdom. Any other interviews that show more of this side of him?
I now have a new found respect for Ed!!! His stories are captivating and the channel has excellent delivery of all the content that you have made thus far, Enjoyed every minute of it. Bravo!!
Fantastic episode, and as a car guy, another reason why I love The Iced Coffee Hour! Ed is an amazing personality and always entertaining to listen to.
"I was never handed anything" - had a 5k-6k pet at 14 and a basement big enough to start a business breeding them with 100's down there. EDIT - Not trying to undercut Ed... I think he's a vessel of knowledge and I love listening to him.
"How have you never lost money on a car?" Because Ed is like a tax auction house flipper, but with cars. Buys a turd, fixes it up, does some landscaping and marketing, and ends up selling it for only slightly below market for a hefty profit.
My entire young childhood I had a lot of cars did a lot of stupid things. I always just paid it took the points and said I don’t wanna deal with it. Recently, I was pulled over for doing 26 over no seatbelt and no insurance on that particular car. For the first time in my life, I called a lawyer. He charged me $300. All three charges were dropped and I was put on probation so if I don’t get another ticket for three months it all disappears. ALLWAYS get a local lawyer I was so stupid as a young man.
I didn’t think there would be so many similarities in the legal system between the US and Europe. It amazes me that if you just learn how stuff works, no matter if how to handle your way with cars, police, customers or business partners it’s universally applicable. I for myself am in the business of renting cars in Germany (Frankfurt Mainhattan to be exact) but you guys provided me with a lot of further value. Thank you!
1:34:29 These next few minutes make me feel a little bit better about the hail damage on my Ford Focus SE. It’s a 2014; I purchased it brand new in December of 2013. This is the only brand new car I’ve ever purchased. At the time I had an apartment so I parked outside. About four months later and 400 miles on the odometer, a hail storm tears through Colorado Springs and the car gets damaged. I still have the car 11 years later, 11,500 miles on it, and hail damage.
I enjoyed this one. When I was 7 I'd ride my bike to the gas station to pickup an auto trader for $1. Then I moved up to drooling over DuPont Registry and Hemmings in the mid 90's through early 00's. This made me wanna go pickup a copy of the latest DuPont registry and dream like a kid again.
I’ve seen Ed forever on YT, but didn’t know that much about him. So unique in that he can be so bold with his car trading, but be so down to earth and self-effacing at the same time. He could teach public speaking better than most. I could see him entering politics some day.
Ed is one of my favorite people in the car space. I will stop and listen to whatever he has to say, whenever he decides to open his mouth and say it. Awesome interview.
Well produced podcast, I am expecially impressed by the audio quality. Being able to capture a clean audio in such a big garage must have been a challenge
Jack talking about him videoing the cop running the stop sign is hilarious. Like wtf do you expect anyone to do? Report it to the police and move on. Is jack gonna be surprised to find out cops speed too?
In actual first world countries, you can submit that to the department. The police aren’t unionized so they’re unable to extort the people. Internal Affairs would coordinate the car number to whomever was on shift and they would be reprimanded.
An almost 2 & a half hour podcast with not even a 2 second caveat about Ed’s Cannonball Run record..?! 🤔🤯 Ed even mentioned the book he wrote about his Cannonball Run time record, (more so about the front page letter he addressed to his son, i know), but still, there wasn’t a single incline/ mention about it..👀 smh. 🤦🏻♂️ What a huge missed opportunity.. to say the least! 😳🤯🤦🏻♂️ Otherwise, this was a great pod boys!! Love to see more of the “Automotive UA-camr” guests on the pod lately! Thanks so much for stopping by. This was a lot of fun!
Absolutely!!
I hope you have a great night ed
I aspire to be Ed one day. I’m flipping early 2000’s Chevy sports cars right now. One day the exotics will be here in my hands.

The subtle and dry jokes are the greatest things to every Ed story. 😅
