      Tmnt the first one was pretty damn cool I love how New York looked gritty. If that movie had Danny elfman composing it, it would’ve bn a way better film.
      Solid movie tho, I’m a huge fan of the 2003 tmnt series.

    Patrice had good taste. Good eye for movies. Texas Chainsaw was fucking terrifying. The bit when Leatherface jumps out of a bush and saws the guy in the wheelchair in half is nightmarish.
    As an aside I was at trade college with a guy born with no cheekbones (treacher collins syndrome) and we used to call him Leatherface lmao.

  • @ShortFingeredShreder
    @ShortFingeredShreder 7 років тому +50

    I'm a huge horror fan, but most of them fucking stink. They've become too predictable and don't rely on atmosphere, like Patrice said in this clip. Paranormal Activity especially, I remember watching that with some friends after it came out on DVD, and I predicted every "scare" in the movie as they played out. The movie's biggest scare, where the guy was thrown into the camera and she screams into the camera afterwards, was put in the fucking trailer! Who does that? Patrice hit the nail on the head with Texas Chainsaw Massacre: I wouldn't really call it a scary movie (it depends on who you ask), but the atmosphere of the whole movie is so intense that it lasts with you after the movie's over, hence... horror. Texas Chainsaw Massacre to me, is one of the few legitimate horror films ever made. Tobe Hooper and John Carpenter are two guys who really get to me with their movies.

    The Exorcist becomes much scarier once you know that it's based on a true story (or rather, true reports) and even more so, the behind-the-scenes aftermath for all those involved in the production.

  • @sayno2lolzisback
    @sayno2lolzisback 4 роки тому +7

    The best horror movies get under your skin by creating atmosphere, twisting your expectations and make you imagine things to be worse than they are. For example, Texas Chainsae Massacre, Alien, Psycho and The Shining aren't overly violent but you can sense and imagine the horror.

    I’ve watched the exorcist at least 15 times, one of the best written movies ever. It was scary the first three times… after that I fell in love with it. Funny thing it wasn’t supposed to be a horror movie in the first place it’s all about the priest losing his faith.

  • @DanXJ19

    I’m not religious, but the first 3 Omen films bother me in a way. Video games give me more jump scares than films. The part where the Licker jumps through the magic mirror in the interrogation room in Resident Evil 2 will always make me jump even if I know it’s coming. Silent Hill 1 and 2 make me uneasy throughout the whole thing like The Omen films.

    I think the Blair Witch Project is actually a really good Horror movie...
    I'm not sayings its perfect. But too many people go into it thinking that there's supposed to be some big, spooky ghost/witch that will pop out and be in the center of the screen at some point. But thats not what the film was ever going for. It's about the fear of getting lost in the woods and believing that some unseen force is slowly coming after you like a curse. Imagine being lost in the woods, going in circles for days, hearing strange sounds in the night and waking up to weird things lying outside your tent every morning and each night things get progressively worse until you eventually go insane with fear.... That's what its about.... If you don't like it then that's fine but it doesn't suck. It just doesn't work for you because you can't imagine how scary that situation actually is. If you ever got lost in the woods (even if for a few hours) then you might actually begin to appreciate it...

    • @lifelesscorpse7365
      @lifelesscorpse7365 2 роки тому

      Nah
      People wouldn't give a fuck about the movie if it wasn't found footage and "oh my god this might be REAL".

    Paranormal Activity doesn't hold up at all. I'd say Blair Witch holds up a fair bit better since they at least actually roughed it in the woods behind the scenes. There really is that visceral "fuck the woods" thing going on there.
    Paranormal Activity was just "how much money can a movie make without leaving our Californian House?". It was a brilliant grift of a movie.

    Scary movies has to be the dumbest genre. Don't get it. Never will. Same shit with Holloween. I get wanting to dress up, but making shit scary is just like... why? Whole thing has to be a psy-op

    Am I the only person alive who thought The Exorcist was beyond hilarious and not scary at all? I laughed at that movie than alot of comedies.
