Looking at charley really makes me miss him! Feels like he was my dog, sad. Glad I got a chance to be a part of it all, thanks charley dog. You are such a lucky man to be fortunate enough to have him as a companion. Thanks to you to Andrew for sharing it all.
Hey, Man. Great adventure. You are a walkin' encyclopedia of the Wild North. Thanks again for your efforts in preparing these vids for your subscribers. It's much appreciated, Andrew.
I get the feeling ur Dad is very proud of you!! Great educational vids also of how to care for pelts! Best of luck to ya!!!!! Truly is "The Wild North". THANKS for sharing...........
Andrew, I love your videos. It's a part of my life. I cannot wait for each and every video. They keep getting better and better. Keep up the great work.
your shot was spot on Andrew, that is a nice bear, good old dog that Charlie, he loves his life out there, you work more in one day then i work all year, lol good luck man...
Black bear is probably my favorite wild meat. Depending on what they were eating, they usually have very little if any "gamie" flavor and make awesome sausage or roasts. Nice bear, Congrats!
That hoop stretching seems to be a lot of work but it makes for a really nice presentation. Nicer than plywood. You are lucky to have your dad giving you a hand. I thought that the flies would get into it more. I'd say that your $200 is low. An XL bear brings closer to $300 lately. You don't want a predator that size hanging around camp. Charlie earned his keep that day. Thanks for taking the time to post.
lol that's funny. I do agree he does great fishing videos too. I'm laughing because I was telling him how great more bear in camp videos would be be. And bam he serves one up. Lol he can't catch a break. Hey this video is going to get a lot of views Andrew. It's spot on and there's not many like it. Congratulations on a a job well done.
Rotherin He said that he doesn't even really like to fish that much. He said that he likes to catch em for food and stuff. I'm sure he likes the feeling of getting a big pike on and reeling it in but I don't think that it's something that he really enjoys to do aside from doing it for food
Hey Andrew, not a bad bear, buggers are sneaking around camp eh. Best I got was 192 for one of the bears I sent in to auction which wasn't bad I thought but that was a fall bear with nice dense fur on it. Ole Charlie is still lookin good there I see.........time to do some fishin now ......cheers to ya
Hey bud been watching for a few years now first started watching for trapping advise but like the suprise harvests just as much well I hope you keep making these videos for a long time to come.
As far as the .358 Winchester, the Browning model 81 lever is available in .358 Winchester . Marlin makes a lever in .35 Remington . Also, you might find an older model Remington model 141 in pump action, which is also in .35 Remington . Both the .35 Remington and the .358 Winchester are a 200 grain round nose bullet . All those rifles are less expensive than a Savage 99 .
Bear Steak for dinner tonight! I like the way to eliminate a threat, get a new rug and have free meals fir a month, all with just one bullet. Keep up the good work son!
Just finished my first season trapping and I have never skinned a bear. It would be great to see you do a how to video on skinning one. GREAT video though, keep em coming.
Nice Bear, and a nice job on pelting him on your stretcher. How many Bear are you allowed up there a year? How do you fry your Bear. We usually cook them like venison with onions and salt and pepper. If we cut them up. Usually just put them on a hog roaster. Best way ever to eat. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on another one.
ok ill go down to fish and game and get a export permit for you do everything legally and ship it off to you i also have 3 lynx pelts from last winter i been hanging onto for bartering tools
Good shot. .270 is my favorite calibre. I know that you would always try not to let it happen but do you worry that Charlie could get hurt or worse, if he gets too close to a wounded bear? Or for that matter if he chased after a live one.
yes of course i worry about that i wouldent shoot at a bear without charlie secured thats why i half closed the window just in case he was thinkin about jumping out. hes pretty good though he listens pretty good
Actually I had no doubt that you've always been cautious. I certainly didn't mean to question that. I'm just talking. I have heard about and watched videos where guys deliberately send their dogs after bears, even a grizzly. Holy shit I mean those bears are so fast and powerful that a big one could wipe out a pack of dogs in a hurry if he chose to. I enjoy all of your videos.
He always seems to get nice fucking animals. No matter what. Always bagging nice cats in the snow and beautiful little wolverines. Even his minks and weasels are nice.
I got a pup when I knew my old dog only had a few months to go...to soften the blow of a friend who had to move on. My old dog last a year more than I expected because of how happy the puppy made him. So if you got another dog Charlie would love you for it.
pretty sweet when you don't half to leave the house to go hunting ! ps Andrew is that a rubicon an do you have manual shift or electric , I got the electric shift on mine
Nice Bear and nice shooting, them 270 shoot fast and straight, that old bear was dead before he ran off!!! I have a 270 pump and I love mine to, deadly accurate!!! Andrew your a bugger for making work for yourself, damn good job on skinning and stretch that bear, to bad fur prices are so damn low could of got yourself a bit more money for all your work. Take care and keep safe, Kevin.
In this case unlimited as it is considered protection of property and personal safety. Legally I could shoot any bear that steps on my property if I felt it was needed, I personally don't normally but I have.
TheWildNorth As well you should my friend. I have the utmost respect for indigenous people - whether in Canada or in the USA. Do you have any regulation on trapping as an aboriginal?
Great job Andrew. love the videos even though im jealous as hell of the life your living. keep it up man and you better get a full time night woman soon so you can pass this on to your kids.
+James G Smith yeah there is a lot of black bears around there real hungry this time of year so there traveling i shoot em wen they come into my camp they just keep comming back
good eating. nice pelt, too. lots of fur in the pads of the paws still - he just got out of den! next time try leaving the maggots - they'll clean out bits of meat in the nose. congratulations!
i dont ship my fur off they do that at the fish and game office wen we bring the fur in they grade it cut us a check and package and send it to north bay for us i have never had to snd fur off myself
This is nitpicking but not exactly. Hay River is @ 60° 49′ 59″ N which is below the arctic circle (66°33′46.3″N). So sun does go down but it doesn't get really dark. Thank you for providing the meat for the elders, Andrew. You are the real deal, young man!
Fo sho
Looking at charley really makes me miss him! Feels like he was my dog, sad. Glad I got a chance to be a part of it all, thanks charley dog. You are such a lucky man to be fortunate enough to have him as a companion. Thanks to you to Andrew for sharing it all.
Awesome video! Showing the process from start to finish was great. Many don't realize the work involved. Great job!
I'm impressed with your adaptability to each new adventure presented to you. Great benefit of working and being independent.
Gotta love that .270, not to mention Charlie spotting that bear so early on. Keep on posting great content man, I love it.
Good old Charlie ... doing his job ... and doing it well! Thank you Charlie for this good video.
Nice job as always man!! I live my wild side through you man. Keep up the good work on educating me about the wild north. Nice bear!
Hey, Man. Great adventure. You are a walkin' encyclopedia of the Wild North. Thanks again for your efforts in preparing these vids for your subscribers. It's much appreciated, Andrew.

He sure is. He knows he's gonna get a full belly :)
lol that's funny. I do agree he does great fishing videos too. I'm laughing because I was telling him how great more bear in camp videos would be be. And bam he serves one up. Lol he can't catch a break.

you always hear you need 30-06 or some thing bigger and here you are shooting with a 270.... your channel is very informative thank you
I use 308, i was going to upgrade but after watching Andrew i am going to keep using my 308. I wonder if it will be enough for an interior grizzly.
I also carry a 44 magnum, i also forgot about my 12 gauge. I guess I will be ok 😊
I went from 30-06 to 308- alot easier on the shoulder - I do white tails - don't know about 308 on Grizz though
when we go out, we carry a 44 magnum and a 357 magnum

I enjoy all of your videos.
You should build a little skid for dragging that kind of stuff out of the bush. Just a piece of plywood with some skids underneath
Hey Andrew, love your videos. What do bears smell like?
hey Amdrew, nice clean shot! how many grains are you using with that 270?
Nicely done would like to learn how to do that!
Bailer Twine!!! Man I wish we had thought of that when we were doing Buffalo hides 20 years ago...
Great bear #2, is there a season or limit of how many you can take up there.
Congrats on a beautiful bear- hope to see some smoking and cooking videos down the road!
What kind of cuts do you get out of a bear? Steaks? Roasts? Burger? Little of everything? I'm thinking about harvesting one myself.
Hey Andrew, I really enjoy your videos. Don't know that I could work as hard as you do though. Maybe when I was your age. Anyways.... good stuff man.

Great job Andrew. love the videos even though im jealous as hell of the life your living. keep it up man and you better get a full time night woman soon so you can pass this on to your kids.
How long after shooting do you have to clean him before the meat is ruined?
Always best after taking a shot at a bear to sit back a bit and finish a coffee. Never want to walk up on a wounded bear great video. Nice shot!

On a normal year, how many bears come into your camps?
What is the maximum sunshine hours where you are located during the summer?
+Jim Dent 24 hr land of the.midnight sun
