    Looking at charley really makes me miss him! Feels like he was my dog, sad. Glad I got a chance to be a part of it all, thanks charley dog. You are such a lucky man to be fortunate enough to have him as a companion. Thanks to you to Andrew for sharing it all.

    Black bear is probably my favorite wild meat. Depending on what they were eating, they usually have very little if any "gamie" flavor and make awesome sausage or roasts. Nice bear, Congrats!

  • @mushercdn

    That hoop stretching seems to be a lot of work but it makes for a really nice presentation. Nicer than plywood. You are lucky to have your dad giving you a hand.
    I thought that the flies would get into it more. I'd say that your $200 is low. An XL bear brings closer to $300 lately.
    You don't want a predator that size hanging around camp. Charlie earned his keep that day.
    Thanks for taking the time to post.

      Rotherin He said that he doesn't even really like to fish that much. He said that he likes to catch em for food and stuff. I'm sure he likes the feeling of getting a big pike on and reeling it in but I don't think that it's something that he really enjoys to do aside from doing it for food

    Hey Andrew, not a bad bear, buggers are sneaking around camp eh. As far as the .358 Winchester, the Browning model 81 lever is available in .358 Winchester . Marlin makes a lever in .35 Remington . Also, you might find an older model Remington model 141 in pump action, which is also in .35 Remington . Both the .35 Remington and the .358 Winchester are a 200 grain round nose bullet . All those rifles are less expensive than a Savage 99 .

    Nice Bear, and a nice job on pelting him on your stretcher. How many Bear are you allowed up there a year? How do you fry your Bear. We usually cook them like venison with onions and salt and pepper. If we cut them up. Usually just put them on a hog roaster. Best way ever to eat. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on another one.

    Good shot. .270 is my favorite calibre.
    I know that you would always try not to let it happen but do you worry that Charlie could get hurt or worse, if he gets too close to a wounded bear? Or for that matter if he chased after a live one.

    • @TheWildNorth
      @TheWildNorth  8 років тому

      yes of course i worry about that i wouldent shoot at a bear without charlie secured thats why i half closed the window just in case he was thinkin about jumping out. hes pretty good though he listens pretty good

    • @waynegeorge2707
      @waynegeorge2707 8 років тому +1

      Actually I had no doubt that you've always been cautious. I certainly didn't mean to question that. I'm just talking.
      I have heard about and watched videos where guys deliberately send their dogs after bears, even a grizzly. Holy shit I mean those bears are so fast and powerful that a big one could wipe out a pack of dogs in a hurry if he chose to.
      I enjoy all of your videos.

      This is nitpicking but not exactly. Hay River is @ 60° 49′ 59″ N which is below the arctic circle (66°33′46.3″N). So sun does go down but it doesn't get really dark. So daylight hours are 04:09-23:21 for 20.6. Andrew needs to haul his ass back to (northern) Finland for real land of the midnight sun ;). -A @ Espoo 60° 10′N
