    Although it sounds like a light bopper the lyric is a response to knowing that aversion therapy is still being used against homosexuality in many countries. She always has something to say inside her music and she does it so well.

    Nice reaction👍
    Aurora spoke about the song in an Instagram post announcing its release:
    "Sometimes I feel like the whole world Is trying to convince you something is wrong with you. And sadly often people believe this to be true. It is very frightening how easy it is for someone to convince you that you are wrong. Or that you are overly emotional, too strange, and not good enough. And I think it's about time we shut those voices out. Because in no way should anyone convince you that you are not worthy because of the way you look, act, your faith, or the way you are born to love. We should be allowed to be human. And we don't need a cure for it."
    She adresses the gay community, but also her “weirdness” like her hand movements, head shaking, eyes….💕
    Could you please react to:

    She is generally considered at her very best live. I always like the live versions more as she seems to put more of herself into it. Comment below lists the 3 titles I was going to but I will recommend specific performances . Runaway at 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert is a masterpiece. My admiration with her vision, bravery and humanity was sealed with It Happened Quiet at The Current ( a radio station, I think), and if you havent seen the official video for The Seed, check it - THEN you will know a lot more about her. Glad you get her , though.

    Hi, I'm for the first time on your channel. :) Aurora is amazing artist and I agree, this song is different, but is great, is about that you can be different and there's nothing bad in it, you don't need any cure for it, great message.
    If I can recommend another amazing female artist, please react to japanese artist Kokia. Hmm... it's hard to choose one song to recommend. :D Maybe "Chouwa Oto" live from History concert tour 2012, I think it's good recommendation. :) Kokia don't have many music videos and it's also hard to find some on UA-cam, but she also is even better live, even if she is amazing in studio. So, if you can react to her, I will be very happy. Not many people reacted to her music. Another amazing female artist is Cécile Corbel, french folk artist, I recommend song "Entendez-Vous", this song have music video, but there is amazing version from acoustic live session if you want to. :) For her music maybe four people reacted...

    Yeah it is a unique sound for any Aurora song, she has even called the production "ugly" several times, below is a long quote from a Norwegian radio show with English subtitles. The lyrics are actually very meaningful and not as fun and lighthearted as the sound in typical Aurora fashion.
    There are several new sounds on her latest album "The Gods We Can Touch" from Jan 2022, like a western "Enio Morricone" song and an 80s style song and several other different sounds on the same album.
    youtu . be / -Gh7RrUsuwY&t=350s
    "Yes, it is about when the world makes people believe, that the person they were born to be need to be cured or fixed.
    And then a little more specifically, that thing about conversion therapy, which is still legal, also here in Norway.
    Which... is just absolutely terrible that someone should think, that who they are is so wrong that they need to be cured of it.
    I get a bit sassy, well, it was just what came out of me, I... in a way it's... it wasn't something I did on purpose,
    it just became a bit like that, and then with the sassy, in a way, with the snappy melody, then became...
    or it... it (melody) prayed on it's knees, that "he" (song) should get that kind of production too,
    which is quite new to me, but I enjoy being able to make all kinds of music,
    because I think... I think... everyone's music should just be all kinds of weird.
    But yes it's been fun to be a bit like frivolous and make something a bit ugly, because I make so much..."

    I’m writing this response to the commenter MarrsAttax below and didn’t want it buried with the other responses. Marrs, I think you’re too critical and overly concerned about satanic imagery. The commandment about no other gods before me didn’t say “beside me” and nothing about goddesses. I like the idea that God (if there really is one) can have a female counterpart as well as other friends to run the universe. Aurora dedicated her song “Heathens” at Rough Trade East, London, to “. . . the Mother who takes care of the people who aren’t welcome in heaven.” I like that idea too and believe it as much as anything else. No offense intended to you; we all have our own beliefs. BTW Polo - great reaction.

    I think you'd really like Animal, Apple Tree, Giving Into The Love. These all upbeat like this. Granted there are more than just the 3 I named.

    This is typical of Aurora - she often uses counterpoints between the lyrics and the song. One of her other happy-sounding songs is "The River" motivated by the sad statistics of young male suicide numbers. Here she is using similar happiness to point out the fact that conversion therapy is legal in opposition to accepting people as they are.
    Also, she will often drop the studio version (like the Seed; heavy, produced deeply and with anger and urgency baked in - weeks later she will drop an acoustic version filled with the sadness and melancholy of the same lyrics and melody lines). Here is the same song - as laid-back Bossanova ua-cam.com/video/726I7op9iq0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=iamAURORAVEVO
    One must never forget that Aurora is an old hard-core raver and heavy metal enthusiast that also bring her vocals to Wardruna and Chemical Brothers when she digs it.
    Finally - it is really hard to pull her songs out of context from her latest studio album. That album is conceptual to its core. She is pulling and contrasting songs and lyrical and melody lines from earlier on the album and she is foreshadowing what is coming. "Gods" is an album that makes way more sense when listened to in one setting as it is more than a bag of singles (per usual).
    Happy new year, Polo

    The song and video seem to be a rejection of religion. If the intention is to promote tolerance for gay people I'm not sure that embracing satanic imagery is the best way to go. Seems like that might be counter-productive.

      @chinbeard3852 Рік тому +3

      Satanic imagery?

    • @MarrsAttax
      @MarrsAttax Рік тому

      @@chinbeard3852 Checkerboard floor (masonic, lucifer), seven pointed star (the morning star, Babalon), the apple (offered by Satan to Eve, rejection of God, acceptance of forbidden knowledge, "becoming as Gods"). This kind of thing is pretty par for the course in modern music videos but the imagery fits with the meaning behind the lyrics so I don't doubt it was intentional as opposed to being added to 'look cool'. Maybe Luciferian or Gnostic rather than Satanic but it's all in the same ball park I.e. rejection of official Christianity and a belief in the self as the most important thing.

      Seven-pointed stars and checkerboards can mean a lot of things. I'd be very surprised if Aurora is secretly advocating Freemasonry or some kind of devilish conspiracy. The apple probably does have religious significance, but what Aurora is rejecting are the constraints and inhumanity of religion, so in that sense she probably is rejecting 'official Christianity.' Aurora isn't a Christian, and in any case official Christianity (the definition of which depends on who the 'officials' happen to be) and satanism aren't the only choices on the spiritual menu. She said that this song was inspired by learning that there are forced conversion therapy laws still on the books for gay people in a lot of places, and she was horrified to hear about that. Just chill and enjoy the music.

      Lol. Um, what? This album is laced with Greek Mythology/Gods. I can see how someone could pull each of your references, so it's not like I don't see where you're coming from. But knowing what she's said in numerous interviews about this track and album, I fear you're grasping for something that, while believable, just isn't true. I'm pretty sure she's agnostic, or possibly Wiccan, if I were to put a label on her ' beliefs'. That's just my opinion. As she has never officially claimed nor denounced any type of belief structure publicly.
