Lonavala is a hill station in the Pune district, Maharashtra, India. It is about 64 km (40 miles) west of Pune and 96 km (60 miles) to the east of Mumbai.
Friends, it was absolutely an unplanned trip, we are staying in Mumbai, and when it's a season of rain, how could we miss a short trip to Lonavala. So we put on our hiking shoes and out with bagpacks.

How to Reach Lonavala by Rail :
Lonavala has its own railway station. Plenty of trains like Intercity Express as well as mail and passenger trains connect Lonavala with Mumbai and Pune. Train service from both Mumbai and Pune are available on regular basis and at frequent intervals. So one can board a train to and from Lonavala during any part of the day.
How to Reach Lonavala by Road :
The best way to reach Lonavala is by road. State buses, private buses, taxis as well as tour operators have regular and frequent services to Lonavala. Cars or bikes can also be taken to travel to Lonavala by road. Mumbai Pune Expressway or old Mumbai Pune road NH4 are used to reach Lonavala.
How to reach Lonavala by Air :
The nearest domestic airport to Lonavala is Lohegaon Airport, Pune. Passengers can board flights till Pune from any Indian city and then hire a local vehicle to reach Lonavala. One can also board flights till Mumbai and then travel to Lonavala by bus or car.

HISTORY:Lonavala was a part of the Seuna (Yadava) dynasty. Later, the Mughals realised the strategic importance of the region and kept the region for an extended time. The forts in the region and the "Mavala" warriors played an important role in the history of the Maratha Empire and that of the Peshwas. In 1871, the Lonavala and Khandala hill stations were discovered by Lord Elphinstone, who was the Governor of Bombay Presidency at the time.

Matheran pohuchne ke baad, waha se pawna lake ke liye taxi aur auto rickshaw milti hai. 10km distance.
Lonavla se cab ya phir auto rickshaw book karna padega.
