Great video. 15:34, this was the most funny moment. The changes from Win 7to Win 8 showed a bit of bravery from Microsoft, namely to break with some already long used conventions of how to use a desktop operating system. I loved this minimalist, visual appearance of the early Windows Metro/Modern-UI design-language but also would have loved to retain the aero-glass effects as an opt-in in the settings. I remember when using Windows 95 first time in my life. My parents still had a Win 3.11 desktop computer and the taskbar wit the easily discoverable windows, the ease of how to copy content between apps and the maximize and minimize effects felt like living in the future back in the early late 1990s. Then was Windows 98, a drastically improvement over Win 95. Not to forget Windows ME ("Mistake Edition" 😂) which was kind of Win 98 which wanted to be Windows 2000 soooo bad and failed. I never had the (dis)pleasure to use it. And the change between Win 98 and Win XP was another drastically change in the design language, in Germany, my home country, Win XP was often jokingly called "Klickibunti" (Clicky and too colorfully). Win XP, Win Vista and Win 7, the old era of service-packs when one rushed to the next pc store to buy a new install CD-rom since internet still was too slow to get over the air updates. As said, great video and a great journey down the memory lane.
If anyone says the Aero Era is not the best visually speaking, you are crazy. MS achieved a thing most operational systems can't: True glassy transparency that is not a drawback in the eyes. The transparency were only on the borders and top of the window, and in the task bar and start menu. But it was incredibly beautiful. A thing lost, forever later on. You know a very interesting thing? Windows 11 almost has no true transparency AT ALL, but whenever you change the color of the system, the system tends to stay unstable for a few seconds. While Windows 7 had a fully translucid system that technically is hardware demanding on the GPU, and still changed colors way faster than the Windows 11. IT's insane.
Windows 11 uses acrillic and mica blurs and in some apps the entire window especially those modern ones use those effects instead of the more primitive basic transpantcy of windows vista and 7

The old user interface of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP is a thousand times better than what Microsoft delivers today. The user interface has been getting on my nerves since Windows Vista, but with Windows 10 it has reached the peak of unbearable in my opinion. I am extremely disgusted to work with the Windows 10 user interface. Unfortunately, Microsoft continues to walk this path. It's no wonder there are programs like Ribbon Disabler, Open Shell, Retro Bar, Old/New Explorer, 7 Plus Taskbar Tweaker and lots of third party themes. Unfortunately, these third party themes are not all sufficient, especially since with every Windows update something is lost from the classic Windows view of the theme. It's a shame that Microsoft doesn't provide an official Classic Theme like it did with Windows 7. I really enjoyed sitting at the PC when I discovered the official classic theme in Windows 7. I don't give a shit how deep a program has to dig into the Windows 10 registry to produce a clean good-looking classic user interface. Retro Bar and 7 Plus Taskbar Tweaker don't get along very well, you can only use one. I chose Retro Bar because it recreates the classic taskbar from Windows to Windows Vista. It's really amazing how well done it is. They've put a lot of effort into the Windows XP taskbar in particular.

top 5 windows in terms of revolutionary and design (real) 1. NT 4.0 - Combines the revolutionary, design, and technology of 95 and combines NT into it to make it THE best 90's operating system. 2. 7 - Do I need to explain? 3. Vista - A very beautiful OS, ahead of it's time. 4. 8.1 - Unlike Windows 10, this isn't soulless and is very alive and happy and cheerful. Also it doesn't have many bugs unlike Windows 8. 5. 95 - The new start menu was very good at the time!
Your choices reflect a mix of technological advancements, design innovations, and user experience improvements. NT 4.0 indeed marked a significant step forward in combining the stability of Windows NT with the user-friendly interface of Windows 95. Windows 7's widespread adoption and user satisfaction are well-documented, making it a standout release. Vista, despite its initial criticisms, introduced several design elements and security enhancements that influenced future versions. Windows 8.1 addressed many of the usability issues of Windows 8 while maintaining its modern interface. And Windows 95's introduction of the Start menu revolutionized user navigation. Each of these Windows versions contributed uniquely to the evolution of the operating system.
Win10(+Xbox One,S,X) was successor of Metro era(also live tiles startmenu was decent), and Win11 is trying make a new style.I'm gonna see that's keeping evolution.
@@ukrainiansturgeon8561 Agreed, flat design is garbage. At the very least all they had to do was add a classic theme built in and still half of the people wouldn't bother changing from the "flagship" metro design. Rounded corners and transparency is all we ask, Microsoft.
Aero was the best thing in Windows. I want to use win7, but new games need modern Windows. However, I don't like either win10 or win11, so I switched to the dark side and use linux with the aero theme for KDE
My personal favs are Windows 7, Windows XP because i played on them full childhood and they have memories... I wish windows 7 and etc services never be ended because they were the *best* OS's ever but now.. everyone forgot the past and started supporting 10 and 11 It is not fair.. I especially liked windows 7 for its design. Games never lagged on it.. If windows 7 service never ended then i would never upgrade to windows 10.. Windows 7 could be really good if apps supported it 😔
@@themyersfan57 Bad optimization - an app can fix that. Unstability issues - I don't know what you mean by this, but I never had a BSOD. Forced Updates - Not really. Bloatware - I removed that. Privacy Issues - I'm aware... Flat UI - Simplistic, I can agree on you that. Inconsistencies - Like the Network and Game Mode.
Am I the only one who supported the opinion that windows 11 by far the best OS made by Microsoft? How these dudes below can support the damn bullshit old versions? Windows 11 have a really excellent UI, easier to accessing, using, better optimization for various devices, the rounded-edge design (i love this most), transparency design, smoooooth animation, every apps or features have similar design, such a simple-look but intuitive OS! Much better than "ancient" looks like aero glass of win 7 or squared-edge like win 8 or 10. I really grateful and appreciate how Microsoft acquainted user's opinions to modernize and made such an excellent OS like windows 11.
time is a measure of change. memories, however, are about meaningful changes. as the years go by, things like windows and other technological advances, become mundane. that's where the feeling mostly comes from. trivialization of things once mattered
Microsoft Windows 7 is probably the best Windows that Microsoft have made for old PCs but the only problem is that all the drivers have to be installed manually or if you have a DVD, RW etc port... it is compatible with a disc which is normally available now on shopping sites or otherwise.
When I used Windows 7, I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10. Then when I upgraded to Windows 10, I used to remember Windows 7. Now I wonder that Windows 7 was the best. Here are my favorite versions of Windows released: 1. Windows 7 2. Windows 11 3. Windows Vista 4. Windows XP 5. Windows 10 (RTM) 6. Windows 10 (Final Release) 7. Windows 8.1 8. Windows 8 9. Windows 2000 10. Windows 98 11. Windows 95 (And all the way to the older versions descending)
Yeah, each operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux etc) has advantages and disadvantages so they're nice (on) their own ways. Also keep in mind that there's no flawless or glitchless operating system which sounds infeasible.
Windows 10 was the peak of Microsoft WindowsOS’s characteristics. With Windows 11 being completely different looking UI. I honestly like the direction Microsoft is going.
I love the song you use in your videos, Nevada is perfect, the first video I watched from you was Evolution of MacOS and I love it, you are a fuckin' boss!!!
Leave it to Martin Nobel to finally make an actual version of Windows version history, without the likes of "Windows 9.1 Pro Super Rainbow Dash Edition" clogging up the real stuff.
I'm extremely sad about the fact no one cares about Windows 8.x. Everyone is praising Windows 7. I literally don't neither like XP and 7 nor hate it. Windows 8.x was honestly the best OS from Microsoft for me. The best part were the nice messages in the first login sequence. Love how it says "Hi, We're getting things ready for you, You can get new apps from the Store, Taking care of a few things, Let's start!"
@@ShrimChami I know this, I've watched the full history and I'm aware of it. Microsoft never said that they completely forgot about desktops, and I could literally use Windows 8 *(not 8.1)* as my main OS, and I'm actually preparing for it! I know support for it is gonna end for it by 14/January/2023. It's just SO much hard for me to detach from it! (Actually Windows 8 lost support in 2016)
My favorites: 1. Windows 10 (solid since 1607) 2. Windows 8.1 (if you adapt, you notice how fast and reactive - maybe even the best - 8 was for older PCs. I‘m not limiting a complete OS to it‘s start menu and I‘m also not a denier of knowledge. A few clicks and you could have adapted to 8.. ) 3. Windows 7 (Shiny, Reactive, no Bloat, the most simple OS ever released) 4. Vista (I never experienced any performance issues with it and back then Vista felt like something that came from the future since XP and Vista had totally different UI‘s and Vista‘s new functions were very exciting for that time) 5. Windows XP (It‘s fast but I never really used it as my main OS, since it‘s UI looks old compared to the others and it wasn‘t nearly as future rich as Vista+ and pls don‘t come up with Vista hate now, you might experienced worse speed but I did not)
Overview of all personal consumer oriented versions of Windows: Windows 1.0-3.0 looked decent for their time. Windows 3.1 was a drastic overhaul, followed by 95, 98 and ME. Windows XP was the next major overhaul, improving the GUI significantly and bringing the NT framework to normal desktop users. Windows Vista gave way to my favourite graphic overhaul, and the major software imperfections were addressed with Windows 7, probably the greatest Windows version of all time. Windows 8 was too tablet oriented, which was slightly addressed by 8.1. Windows 10 was the perfect happy medium between laptop and tablet, receiving a GUI polish with Windows 11, which leads us to today.
I have to agree and it makes using an Ultrawide Monitor so much better as the start menu and taskbar icons are in the middle of the taskbar. I get that it's not to everyone's taste but from a usability standpoint it's far better than 10 on the same monitor.
sad story: my mom bought a windows 7 for work and when i was born in 2011 she gave it to me and she used to take pictures and videos of me when i was really young with her nokia and move them to the windows 7 so that laptop had all my life photos form 0 to like 10 but sadly in 2023 the hard disk of the laptop got corrupted so that means that my whole childhood will be gone if it doesn't get fixed 10 years of my life are just gonna get deleted we took it to a professional but he couldn't do anything then we took it to another professional now it's still there i lost all hope please pray for me
They removed the start button and put it in a place where it is hard to find in Windows 8. Windows 11 makes desktop and touch come together into one UI.

Its crazy how much its changed and how weve gotten better and smarter technology

Win10(+Xbox One,S,X) was successor of Metro era(also live tiles startmenu was decent),
and Win11 is trying make a new style.I'm gonna see that's keeping evolution.
Microsoft should’ve stuck with aeroglass.
@@ukrainiansturgeon8561 Agreed, flat design is garbage. At the very least all they had to do was add a classic theme built in and still half of the people wouldn't bother changing from the "flagship" metro design. Rounded corners and transparency is all we ask, Microsoft.
An evolution about every Windows OS? Amazing!
you are growing fast omg
Hmm, that's the generation. Thank you for the video. ❤

I really grateful and appreciate how Microsoft acquainted user's opinions to modernize and made such an excellent OS like windows 11.
too bad they ripped off the start menu

I am just happy that in Windows 11 22H2, the Widgets icon is now at the left instead of looking like an app on the Taskbar.
Windows 11 22H2 like a fun. Also, it's better than using Winaero Tweaker

I still can't believe that Windows 7 came out 12 years ago..... Man, I feel so old. Even 2019 is so old
time is a measure of change. memories, however, are about meaningful changes. as the years go by, things like windows and other technological advances, become mundane. that's where the feeling mostly comes from. trivialization of things once mattered
Bro feels like 2022 is old💀💀💀💀
Microsoft Windows 7 is probably the best Windows that Microsoft have made for old PCs but the only problem is that all the drivers have to be installed manually or if you have a DVD, RW etc port... it is compatible with a disc which is normally available now on shopping sites or otherwise.

My favorites:
1. Windows 10 (solid since 1607)
2. Windows 8.1 (if you adapt, you notice how fast and reactive - maybe even the best - 8 was for older PCs. I‘m not limiting a complete OS to it‘s start menu and I‘m also not a denier of knowledge. A few clicks and you could have adapted to 8.. )
3. Windows 7 (Shiny, Reactive, no Bloat, the most simple OS ever released)
4. Vista (I never experienced any performance issues with it and back then Vista felt like something that came from the future since XP and Vista had totally different UI‘s and Vista‘s new functions were very exciting for that time)
5. Windows XP (It‘s fast but I never really used it as my main OS, since it‘s UI looks old compared to the others and it wasn‘t nearly as future rich as Vista+ and pls don‘t come up with Vista hate now, you might experienced worse speed but I did not)
Windows Vista is one of my favorite Windows of all time. And I love Windows 11 as well.

Overview of all personal consumer oriented versions of Windows:
Windows 1.0-3.0 looked decent for their time.
Ive been using windows 11 and i liked it, mainly because its modern designed
I have to agree and it makes using an Ultrawide Monitor so much better as the start menu and taskbar icons are in the middle of the taskbar.
