Greetings from Turkey, I have been using Dali Spektor 2 for a week and I am very pleased. I am considering purchasing a Dali Spektor 1 with more suitable dimensions for my Desktop Computer in my office. Thanks for the review. Edit; My Dali Spektor 1 speaker arrived today. Naturally, I had the opportunity to compare it with Dali Spektor 2. Although Spektor 1 has a small cabinet and drivers, it sounds very good. Of course, it only comes close to the bass level of Spektor 2. But this doesn't make a huge difference. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a stylish looking speaker that takes up little space on the desk or bookshelf and provides high quality sound. In short, Spektor 1 will please a normal user. I paired Dali Spektor 1 with the Fosi Audio BT20A Class D amplifier on my computer in my office, and I use Dali Spektor 2 in my living room at home. I'm thinking of pairing it with a good amplifier in the future, what would you recommend?
You have no idea how much you helped me with your comment. Been searching for 2days now for speskers snd I also have the fosi audio bt20a pro amplifier. Thank you!
Dude...I love the way you are so genuine! No overdubs to hide boo boos...always so real! Thank you for bringing audiophile reviews for the common man!!
Got these today. Agree with pretty much everything you said. Very refined silky highs. Slight bump in the upper mids that subjectively sounds like extra ‘texture’ on things like bass guitars and drum skins. Good tight bass. Over all, a very well balanced speaker that should work with almost any type of music. It’s almost as if DALI have tuned the speaker to be forgiving on sources without sacrificing on the clarity that hi-fi pedants expect. A very difficult balancing act that the company has somehow managed to pull off. I’m amazed they’ve managed to do this for such a low price. Even a few years ago, you’d have to pay at least double for a speaker of this calibre. We’re truly living in the golden age of quality, affordable hi-fi. The only thing think I miss with this particular speaker is a bit of weight in the lower mids. If I was to buy again, I’d probably go for a Zendor (sp?). But then those are almost double the price, so I’m still very happy with the Spektor.
Getting these tomorrow, swapping with my father as he needs a more subtle soundbar and sub arrangement, of which I’m happy to part with. This video just added to the excitement! Props on the “mahogany” line at the start. “I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.” Instantly had me there!
These arrived today and I bought them based upon your review. They replaced B&W 685's, and despite being a smaller speaker, are far superior. I'm listening to The Doors - Riders on the Storm and it's amazing. I also listened to Tool - Chocolate Chip Trip and the 3D effect was amazing! Thank you cheapaudioman!
@@johnadam5702 Seriously thinking about pairing them with the brand-squeaky-new SMSL AO300 (which is an AL200 in a different chassis with a better USB decoder and a subwoofer out).
I bought the spektor II’s as a birthday present for my godmother, along with a Denon CEOL n11, and i was amazed by how BIG these speakers sound. I’ve got a pair of Kef R11’s and the listening pleasure is equal. Love them
I bought the Denon N11 after my Denon N7 broke down for the second time. Suprisingly the New speakers of the N11 sound worse than the old ones, which rly irritates me. If I would have known before I would have bought the N11 without the speakers...
Dude i fuin love you, glad to see that you test rock and metal as many reviewers dont! Metal music especially is very hard to find a good produced record and is difficult on speakers to replicate all of the instruments clearly and not mushed toge! Kudos!
Purchase justified. Your observations are fairly similar to mine. Though I find the bass to be plenty for my small lounge. My neighbours (both of them) already hate me.
Gifted these to my brother in law who turned 50. Blind purchase pretty much. Hooked them up and they sound great. Very full. Off axis performance is surprising. Think I might grab a pair myself.
Thank you for reviewing these! I've been diggin these for about 7-8 months now (I've dubbed them my quarantine speakers). At least once a day, I say to myself, these are only $350?! I've tried a lot of speakers in/around this price point, for me these are the one's to beat at this price point. I'm so impressed with these... I'm getting the Oberon 1's (Will still keep these Spektor 2's, I mean they're only $350 & they are great for everyday listening, streaming, etc., Why would I get rid of them?) I really dig the wood pulp driver / tweeter & was impressed with the build quality. Thanks again for auditioning / reviewing these.
Hi, thanks for the nice review. You helped me to choose speakers. Now I'm the happy owner of Dali Spektor 6 and looking for an amplifier to pair with them.
I like the black leather on the face, reddish driver, and funky tweeter bezel. They’re very cool. My very expensive B&Ws have magnetic grills. They dog walks by and they come off, for the last 13 years.
I would love to know this also. I can imagine the Dali's fill a room with more oomph and presence and soundstage. I heard him say in one review of the Emotiva B1+ vs some JBL's that he would prefer the Emotiva's for a desktop situation vs a bigger room situation. But I would love his take on this direct comparison. Please and thank you.
I bought these yesterday, for my Denon D-M41. Did A/B testing with the existing Denon SC-M41 and see little improvements. The Denon's are so good too, but I am hearing sounds I haven't heard before with CD playback, i.e. Eric Clapton unplugged, will take a few days and see how I feel. So far I like it. I like bass, just enough so that my neighbour does not text me. We live in a townhouse, and I like to listen to music at night.
@Brandon Hall never heard either of them. From my own experience I can tell you the Spektor 2 have good bass and can fill my bedroom with sound even at medium volume with no problem. Sound is pretty neutral with good detail, good bass and they are pretty airy. They are driven by a marantz mcr612 with 60w per channel @ 6 ohm.
Hi. I've got a denon m41 with their own speakers. I want something more open and with more clarity. Would these be a good enough upgrade. Would I notice a more premium sound compared to the denon speakers? Thanks
Hi Randy! I appreciate your efforts and all the things you taught me on audio. I have a mid-sized living room and I want to buy a turntable to listen to there. I don't want to add a subwoofer into my audio system, thanks to the lack of space. Independent of price, which do you think should I go for? ELAC debut 5.2 or DALI Spektor 2?
I received my Spektor 2's in white in April. came to watch the video to see what You had to say about them to make sure my purchase is justified enough :D
I'd be curious if you'd do a review on the Kef Q750 tower speakers, I listened to all of the different speakers at Best Buy, snd I absolutely fell in love with their sound, but I'd be curious as to what your thoughts were, there is a surprising lack of reviews about them online
I have Dali’s in the kitchen, Q acoustics in the bedroom and Triangle s in the living room. They are all great and all suit those rooms. Triangles have the best tone out of them but are boosted a bit too much in the bass for in the kitchen and the Q Acoustics sound very flat in the kitchen but great in the bedroom….
I have had those speakers for the last 4 months. Love the sound stage for the size of the speaker is good. The look is awesome and Yes they will need a sub in a bigger room as you described in your accurate review. To me, they don't worth the 500 asking price I bought them on sale. They can sound pretty loud but seems to struggle to handle the 25 Watts of my 46 year old receiver.
Massive speakers went out in the 80's, I still got a pair of small wharfadale diamond 4s and everybody says how good they sound on my atacama stands, but I think I'm ready for a new set of the Dali 2s. Only £189 in UK.
Hello! I've got a denon dm38 and a pair of q acoustics 2010. Do you think it would be worth upgrade to the Spektors 2 or would be better of buying a whole new system? Thank you.
Thanks for your unfiltered content man. Would you happen to have had any experience with the Emotiva XRM 6.1? If so, how would they fare in comparison to these Dalis? Cheers
Wow I was surprised we have the same questions. As I'm about to buy it soon before Christmas, have you bought one ? And are you happy with it or rather bought the ???? Thanks
Hi! I recently got ino Hi-Fi and I'm setting up an entry level stereo setup - I bought a used Marantz PM4001 integrated stereo amplifier (2 x 40w @ 4 ohms)...can you suggest what I should pair it with - Spektor 1s or Spektor 2s?
Hey :) I got a question. If I could get the Dali Spektor for 220€ (250 dollar) and the wharfedale Diamond 12.2 for 309€ (350 dollar). Which ones should I choose (I do really like bass but I also want good sound overall)? Also, can you recommend a cheap (preferably not more than 100 dollar) amp that go with those speakers (preferably with a sub out)? And would I need anything apart from the speakers & amp in the beginning if I only want to play music via Bluetooth (so basically buy a DAC in a half a year and not immediately - the speakers are already a little out of my budget but all the cheap options you mentioned are not really available in my country)? Sorry for all the questions - I’m quite new to this 🙈
Hey Randy, just wondering about Amazon HD. Recently cxl an Amazon HD trial because I only could get HD on my computer, not my main system. I use Roku to listen but no HD. Will or has that changed? Thx
I heard you mention testing with the SMSL DA-9 - this an amp I am considering upgrading to from a Duok Audio 25-ish Wx2 mini amp to power some 1990's BIC Venturi v52's. I have all my music on a SSD running off a Pi 4 / Volumnio + DAC hat. Is the $250 worth it? Will it get rid of the Duok's hiss?
Well, I’m make a different suggestion altogether. Instead of a new amp consider the orchard Audio pi DAC for $299. It’s pretty fantastic. Since you’re using Volumio already I think you’ll see a much greater improvement with that DAC than you will with a different amp . Food for thought
Ok. I want to do a 2.1 system for music and tv in my kitchen family room area. I can’t decide between powered speakers or passive speakers and an integrated amp. I have an Aune dac amp. I’m looking at a budget of $1000. I currently have a Yamaha AVR and jamo speakers I would move to my small living room. What’s the best bang for the buck? My concern is the amp reliability in certain brands of speakers.
I snagged some Spektor 2s earlier this week for $230 from Amazon Warehouse. Absolutely love them! These are my keepers for my coffee table setup. I’ve got the black ash and they look killer.
Hey Randy, it just struck me that I'll bet you'd love John Grant's music - you share the same sense of the absurd! Give him a listen, if you haven't already! Thanks for the review. I've watched it several times, and just invested in a pair of these speakers as a result!
I imagine that would depend a lot on your specific setup. If you are asking about the speakers that point up towards the ceiling (which aren't the only way to get atmos height channels), then I would guess further would be better in most setups, all else being equal.
@@squngy0 atmos is spatial audio , So if it has more space to perform maybe the sound moving will be more obvious These are just my thoughts I am an audio noob and i dont know what i am talking about. Just asking for opinions
It took me some time to figure it out, but did you, by chance use a piece of Maurice Ravel String quartet in F major part II, "Assez vif. Très rythmé" as an introduction tune for a part of your reviews?
Can you do a review of the Cerwin-Vega SL-5M 5 1/4" 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers and/or the Cerwin-Vega SL-8? At $149/pair for the SL-5M and $199/each for the SL-8 I think they fit the 'cheap' moniker.
Considering your channel name... I suspect DALI RUBICONS are out of the question? The reason why I ask ofcourse... I'm interested in having the dali rubicons as my left and right and having the cabinet designed front facing port DALI OPTICIAN as my Centre! I'm a discreet sort of guy hence the reason why I do not want to have a large speaker centre channel placed on top of my cabinet therefore do you think this frontstage will match up? Loving the way you deliver your advice and reviews! 👍
Hi Randy. You mentioned Adel and her song Hello again 😆 and I have to ask if u heard the 🐸 Frogleap studios version yet. They also have Africa from Toto. He re did Beat it From Michael Jackson and Salt and peppers PUSH IT !! Man u have to check them out!! Lol you mentioned a Orange jump suit and he wears one of those tooo
Definitely pass on the Klipsch. They’re not remotely as good as either of the other two. If you like a bit more sparkle to with the Q’s you like a richer midrange to with the Dali’s
Thanks so much for your reviews, man. Extremely helpful, and fun. Do you have any thoughts on these vs. the Klipsch RP500Ms? Price is almost identical right now. Would likely be powered by a Cambridge AXA35, if that helps...
The Dali’s are a much more behaved speaker and most audiophile types would choose the Dali’s. However if you know you like the Klipsch sound the 500’s are good. Actually it’s the only Klipsch that I own now. They can be a bit much around 2k but they’d probably actually pair really well with the Cambridge
Hey sir i want to buy VFM speakers Dali Spektor 2 Hi-Fi 100W 6 omn in 250euro the critics are amazing for ''cheap speakers'' i want you to tell me one good amplifier to attach them which wont be too expensive thank you !!!
You should try the Kali audio in-8 especially the v2 2nd generation, getting a lot of Praise from the industry the V2 are $370 a pair...! can't go wrong active speakers with great boundary controls 3-way 4" coaxial driver definitely need to check them out mate and if you're looking for an active speaker you can't go wrong And the Dali use seas drivers that's why they are good!
Thanks. Personally, compared to what I've had before Mission LX1s, there's no need for a sub woofer. For mainly classical, they're great. More bass would get my neighbor banging on our six inch party wall! Thanks
I too have a party wall so this is a helpful comment! What do you drive these with? These are on the top of my list and I'm considering using with them the SMSL AO300.
Focal 706 have a very large, tall soundstage. Some instruments will sound a bit stretched vs Dali which should sound smaller. I think the Dalis tone/timbre will be more natural. I had the Spektor 1, Oberon 1 and Focal 706 in my room and felt there was something off in the tone on the Focals. I also preferred the older AlMg tweeter over the Poron one. I have the Focal 807W (easily beats them all but are also more $$$, IMO) and have used it for years to compare. I thought the Dalis were nice and could live with them but they are a bit more laid back and less dynamic vs Focal, but the V driver while sounding bigger, also sounded stretched making piano sound a bit unfocused/diffuse. But it was a really tall and wide SS and had a bit more depth too. All are good speakers, I'm nitpicking for their price points.
@@antonios3717 So, are you always going for loud or is there a split for low and moderate volumes, especially in a bedroom? I'm listening to and switching between CA Minx XL, Triangle Zetas and Focal 807Ws. the Focals are the most dynamic and voices more focused and natural. With the Minx XLs, which remind me of a bit of Dalis, the sound is a bit laid back but really smooth. This results in a less dynamic and detailed sound while still nice, it can lack in comparison to more revealing, exciting and ethereal sounding speakers. They are also much smaller and cheaper. In addition, the voice is a bit woollier in comparison but still good. The Triangle Zetas fit in between, more dynamic and a bit more focused than the Minx XLs but still less than the Focals which retailed at 3X the price. So price, size, material for drivers makes a difference. Nothing wrong with any of them, They all play loud but bigger cabinets and drivers should play louder without breaking up. Not always but typically. For example, Martin Logan Motion 15s sounded nice at moderate volumes but clipped when you raised the volume to louder levels. In a smaller room, a larger speaker will be loud but you may lose the cohesion of the soundstage and bass might suffer. That's why the only way to know for sure is to try it in your own room. Then there's efficiency and how much power is on tap. With the Dalis, they aren't the most efficient and will need some juice to play louder, not alot more but you still want some reserve power for optimal SQ. If your budget is in the 3-400 dollar range, there are some options. Focal 605 should give larger soundstage than the Dalis. Dalis are still nice especially for voice reproduction. There's also Emotiva, Traingle Borea, Aperion, Klipsch...the list goes on. For a small room there are compromises in speaker size, the volume level, price range, etc. What music do you want to play loud? Guessing rock, maybe some gaming, etc so you want a speaker that brings out the lows to lower mids without sounding harsh on top. Maybe Randy can offer a few suggestions but if you really want loud, never listen at low volumes, the nicest small speaker for Rock, hard Rock, etc were Boston M25s which might still be available on Amazon but from a 3rd Party seller. They can take power. The best I heard for Metallica. But there are alot of options. Dalis, while nice, I don't think they're considered a party speaker but I never played the Oberon 1s/Spector 1s I had too loud. The rant probably didn't help but that's why trying it out at home is the only way to know for sure. Good luck.

Totally dig all the back info, you make me smile and laugh, I get coffee to make sure I'm ready lol.
Thanks for your unfiltered content man. Would you happen to have had any experience with the Emotiva XRM 6.1? If so, how would they fare in comparison to these Dalis? Cheers
Great review! Do you think these would be a worth while upgrade from the Elac B6s?
These are a lot smaller and a lot more neutral than the B6.
How were these compared to the Spektor 1's?
Much bigger. Spektor 2’s are probably much better for most people
Dali Spektor 2 vs. Wharfedale 12.1 vs Q Acoustics 3020i vs PSB Imagine XB? How would you rank them. Thank you.
Wow I was surprised we have the same questions.
As I'm about to buy it soon before Christmas, have you bought one ? And are you happy with it or rather bought the ????
Thanks
Monitor audio bronze!! 😍 Release that review naaaow! 😄
Get the soektor 2’s. They 1’s are much smaller
Sorry for all the questions - I’m quite new to this 🙈
Im eyeing this ones and oberon 1 which one is better?
Hey Randy, just wondering about Amazon HD. Recently cxl an Amazon HD trial because I only could get HD on my computer, not my main system. I use Roku to listen but no HD. Will or has that changed? Thx
Maybe reviewing the Mission Lx2 Mkii to end the tossup? 😀
Are your observations applicable as well when you paired it with the SMSL DA9?
Is yamaha nsw 300 subwoofer good ?
Also let me know your views on subs like
Mission ms200
Wharfedale whs10e
Elac debut s8.2 ,s10.2
Taga tsw200
Yamaha nsw200 too
How does the spektor 2 do vs Wharfedale denton 80th anniversary?
Looking to pair them with a sub. Any budget recommendations?
Is that a Dared I30 in the background?!?
Are they usable in a 5.1 setup as surround speaker?
Hey Randy, it just struck me that I'll bet you'd love John Grant's music - you share the same sense of the absurd! Give him a listen, if you haven't already!
Thanks for the review. I've watched it several times, and just invested in a pair of these speakers as a result!
Does dolby atmos sound better if speakers are placed near or far from listener
I imagine that would depend a lot on your specific setup.
If you are asking about the speakers that point up towards the ceiling (which aren't the only way to get atmos height channels), then I would guess further would be better in most setups, all else being equal.
@@squngy0 no i am not talking about the height channels
I am talking about fronts and surrounds.
@@squngy0 atmos is spatial audio , So if it has more space to perform maybe the sound moving will be more obvious
These are just my thoughts
I am an audio noob and i dont know what i am talking about. Just asking for opinions
I have dali 2b amazing sound.
Hello cheap are these speakers sound better with or without the griller??
without
Hi Cheapaudioman! Would you help me that choose the one between dali spektor 2 vs polk xt15-20? l hear the dali but not polk. Thank you.
It took me some time to figure it out, but did you, by chance use a piece of Maurice Ravel
String quartet in F major part II, "Assez vif. Très rythmé" as an introduction tune for a part of your reviews?
Wood fibre,is that like cardboard?
Can you do a review of the Cerwin-Vega SL-5M 5 1/4" 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers and/or the Cerwin-Vega SL-8? At $149/pair for the SL-5M and $199/each for the SL-8 I think they fit the 'cheap' moniker.
Been looking at these lately and they can be picked up for £160 new!
Is Worth to buy Yamaha RxN600 Av receiver ....and bose double cube Redline bose 1st generation speakers now days ?
Out of these , klipsch rm 51 or q acoustics 3020i which would you recommend for a denon dm 41 dab
Definitely pass on the Klipsch. They’re not remotely as good as either of the other two. If you like a bit more sparkle to with the Q’s you like a richer midrange to with the Dali’s
Can you check out some Canton gle's like the 496 or the 490's?
I would really appreciate it
Thanks so much for your reviews, man.
@@cheapaudioman Awesome, thank you!
Could you review fyne audio f301 ,retail between £350 and £199 .
Thank you
Hey sir i want to buy VFM speakers Dali Spektor 2 Hi-Fi 100W 6 omn in 250euro the critics are amazing for ''cheap speakers'' i want you to tell me one good amplifier to attach them which wont be too expensive thank you !!!
You should try the Kali audio in-8 especially the v2 2nd generation, getting a lot of Praise from the industry the V2 are $370 a pair...! can't go wrong active speakers with great boundary controls 3-way 4" coaxial driver definitely need to check them out mate and if you're looking for an active speaker you can't go wrong
And the Dali use seas drivers that's why they are good!
Focal chorus 605 are at similar price comparable?
@@scotteaton963 I use a Denon D-M41DAB HiFi Receiver CD Player - Black.. Had this for a few years now.
I would love to see you look at PSB Alpha series.
I did review the P5’s a while ago. Great speaker. Felt they were a bit overpriced and the build quality wasn’t great for their price
@@cheapaudioman I guess I missed it. Thanks.
this speakers, Elac Debut 6.2 or Focal Chorus 706?
Well the Dali’s are a pretty small speaker. Depends upon your room size and how loud you like to listen I think.
Its for my bedroom and I like loud music, Should I buy them for 214€ or are there better options? thank you very much!
Good luck.
PS...214€ (about 260 US) is a good price for the Dali Spektor 2. Worth trying if you can return if they don't work.
HI great review but can you review the anthem i225?,it's the world's audiophile best secrets
Weird, I found a Harley Davison pocket knife today and I don’t know how I got it.
