Often we think a saxophone solo needs musical accompaniment. But a sax choir is an amazing acoustic gem with the sounds of Christmas!
Cool guys have a great Christmas
Mr Jay I appreciate everything you have done to help us. Your lessons have made a difference considering my age it's hardly five or six years I had a tenor sax and I started working on it with the assistance of patient professionals. Thousand thumbs up for you Sir. As for this masterpiece song from a great man gentleman you sound wonderful. Gentlemen Marry Christmas and Let's all see a prosperous new year with a Biiig Baaang.
Thank you!
That brought me peace and happiness. Just what we all need. Thanks Steve and Jay! This sounds amazing.
Love it Jay! As an alto, then Bari player (formerly ☹️) my heart was always with the bari.
Wish the bari would have been featured more in the “quartet”. Always thought is was such a versatile lead.
Thanks! Always enjoy your stuff.
So much better than 99.44% of all other sax quartets combined!!! Very Tasty. Happy Holidays everyone.
Mighty fine!
Thanks Jay
Jay - thank you for helping me and thousands, if not millions of others, recognize the beauty and variety of sounds the family of saxophones can produce with education, practice, persistence. You and your staff’s work is absolutely appreciated! Neil
My pleasure!
Just walked into the building to get my day started and found this waiting on me to listen to. WHAT A SOUND!
That was moving and uplifting and will cause many to rise up and say-“We want to hear more!!!”
Merry Christmas guys!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Bari really adds a lot to the ensemble. Bari was my first sax after several years of Bb Clarinet. Loved it. Great work guys.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
what a great sound
soo good!
Had this song in our marching band show this year... automatically makes it 100x cooler
Thanks Jay and Steve. Each breath we get is a gift from God, and there's nothing like giving it back through a sax. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Nice!
A sax quartet! Like it. Best to all of you and thanks for all the videos.
Lovely, glad you could peak out from behind the baritone at the end.
haha
THIS is the squonking I like to see! Grandpa Adolphe made our instrument complete in itself and the best accompaniment for saxes are other saxes.
Excellent work!
That was beautiful.
Just finished my first fully customized mouthpiece, and I watched all your videos with Theo Wanne and Jody Espina while working on it. It was a stock alto mouthpiece that I turned into something closer to the Burnin' (rollover baffle, large chamber) with a .083 tip opening. Appreciate all your content over the years, has helped me fall and stay in love with the saxophone.
Beautiful - thank you. Merry Christmas.
What a joy! Thank you for your wonderful site, and for all that you share with us!
fantastic, such a great quartet.... thnks.
Thanks for listening
That was great Jay, thanks a bundle..
My goodness. Such a great performance. Fantastic arrangement with beautiful harmonies. I was just getting ready to practice my alto when this video popped up. Thanks for the inspiration. This is going to be a great day.
amazing masterpiece masterful arrangement
nicely done and much appreciated.
Thank you kindly!
Wow it sounds so beautiful, someday I'll sound just as good as you guys
Never thought I’d see you on alto
Sound so cool)
👍🏽🎵🎶🎷Merry Christmas the old fashioned way ✌🏽
Such a fun arrangement. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Our pleasure!
Great performance, great arrangement! Thanks.

Its so beautiful
Keep it up Jay. Much appreciated ...
Inspirational, thank you so much. Happy Holidays to everyone
Our pleasure!
Great sound!
Wonderfull sound
I NEEDED THIS AS A JAZZ PLAYER
I loved it!!! nice to hear all of the saxophones together for sound comparison and it was a great christmas song!!
Merry Christmas
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you guys for this saxophone Christmas tune. It's simply magnificent, and a great pleasure to hear this quartet. Thank you Jay for all these videos shared during 2022....we wish the same for the year to come. Happy holidays to everyone !!!
Hi Jay, I really enjoy the content of all of the videos you post and this one is no exception. I guess this video has a more personal message behind it as we’re working on this song in the BeyterSax studio. Thanks to you and Steve for all the encouragement and guidance in the Studio, throughout this year. I’m certainly looking forward to a great year and a great BetterSax year ahead.
Thanks Kirk
Beautiful! Like the fact you gave Soprano a lead at the beginning
This was so great, your alto solo was the best out of all four
Thank you so much for this video! I also wanted to thank you for the incredible learning material in your courses!
You're very welcome!
absolutely wonderful guys, keep the great work coming 👍
Thanks so much!
Thank you, Jay. This is beautiful. My wife's favorite song. Your impressive skills as a player, teacher, and tech put you in a position to help saxophone players of all levels improve and solve their problems. I greatly appreciate your content and how it has contributed to my saxophone journey. Happy holidays! I look forward to a great 2023.
Thank you!
Thank you Jay. And Merry Christmas and a Happy and gig-filled New Year to one and all.
Same to you!
Inspiring. What a great example to show my quartet! Thank you for sharing. 😊👍
My pleasure!
0:58 I haven’t heard a bari sax solo in a while but it’s amazing. I’m 4’10” and I play the bari sax and it’s hard to get those solos, even in a band with less than 50. Your videos helped me in the beginning when I only played alto, now I have been playing the Bari sax for 5 months, Thank you
That's nice. 🌟 Merry Christmas, Jay and Co.! Happy Holidays, and all the very best for the new year. Won't it be lovely to celebrate properly and huggily this year?
absolutely!
Dang that was amazing, I really look up to you guys
This singlehandedly Gave me the drive to keep playing soprano
To Treehugger: the soprano is the life of the party. Low-it has a more beautiful sound than alto in the frequency. High - (hard to keep the intonation straight) it plays the most beautiful harmonic lines.
It can be loud and obnoxious, or soft and beautiful ; you decide.
Coming from tenor and alto, the sop has an armature of it’s own.
I shortchanged myself for years til I bought my first soprano. Get a custom mpc. I have both hard rubber and metal ones.
Such a wonderful arrangement…! And the “note-y” melody was handled well by everyone- that melody can be tricky to translate from lyrics to instruments.
Bravo!
🤩
It took my right till the end to realise it was just the two of you and not four! 😂
I'm starting to play alto saxophone do you have any tips for me?
So wonderful. Is that soprano a Yamaha YSS475
Thanks! Its a 82Z
The way I new the song from hearing before seeing the title
Lots of questions
Where do you get your sheet music?
What kind of recording set up do you have?
And what kind of Soprano Saxophone is that?
Hi Landon! I wrote the arrangement. I was recording using my Apogee Mic +, not sure what Jay was using on this one but he always gets the best sound. My soprano is a yss82z
Eb saxes on top
Niiccce
What tenor saxophone is that? It looks beautiful
Hi Andy! That’s my YTS 62 with a Boston Sax Shop neck 🎷🚀
@@SaxophoneSteveKortyka Man, that thing is nice
@@andysheng1109 Thanks man!
Bravo ! Quel saxophone baryton joues-tu exactement Jay? Merci 🙏
Merci! C’est mon Yanagisawa 901
@@bettersax merci !
Where can I get the music pdf for this?
I Just joined and looking forward to digging into the content! I was trying to find the sax quartet arrangement of "What a Wonderful World" that is supposedly available to members, where do I find it? Thank you so much!
Will that arrangement be available to purchase? Sounds great.
For now it is available as a bonus to all BetterSax Studio members, but we are working on a collection of quartet pieces that will be available for purchase soon and this will be included.
But apart from Jay, who are the other three players?
Its just Jay and I :)
This was very good, but something was missing. You did a Christmas song without a bari sax solo
I missed that sound...
This makes me feel like I'm in a parallel universe
Wow, didn't realize how bad four saxes could sound. Thanks for the lesson.
Where we can get transcription
Nice!
