As a teenager, I used to blast this song while driving the streets of San Diego in my Mitsubishi Eclipse. The line "... I know I want to love her but I can't decide ... " still gets me. Most Gin Blossoms songs are about the one who got away. Then again, what did angsty 1994 me really know about that kind of love lost.
I've seen the Gin Blossoms 4 times and I give them credit for never ever phoning it in . Especially since pretty much all of their hits were on one album . Kudos !!
I was lucky enough to meet these guys as they sound checked for a gig at the Brixton academy London. Got up on stage and played Phil's drums, and Robin gave me a signed photo, I was 18, still have all the colored vinyl and some cd's still in wrap. Robin has the best voice of the 90's in my opinion, wish they would come back!!
Oh Man, This song was the reason why I named my daughter Allison and she is a gymnast now. I also keep missing these guys every time they come to visit my area. 😩
I'm now a 52-year-old working mom. But I remember these guys like it was yesterday. They defined my 20s and 30s. SO much talent, so very relevant to our age. (Thank God for iTunes, man. I can download their songs without the help of my college son, otherwise I'd be forced into figuring out how to make their CDs work on my iPod thingy.) With all the changes and crashes with band members, they were just a work in progress, as were we all back then. I'm not kidding around here. The Blossoms were, and always will be,unique. I had not even seen the video for "Until I Fall Away" until last week, and it brought back so much of what I loved about the 90s that it made me cry. No-nonsense, passionate musicians. Good times. THANK YOU, boys.
Hello Donna I Just read your 8 year old comment nice hope you are well, just wanted to say hi to you, I love this song, I Once played it 200 times non stop when the band made it I Still l love this sweet song, Take care our world is in such chaos now, I Wish the 80's were still here.
@@ratter531 Hi ratter531 just wanted to say I read your 8 day old comment as I listen to the Gin Blossoms 😆 Long live the 90's. They had alot of influence from the Byrds. Hope this sound comes back around. A good b side you might want to check out is "29" written by Jesse Valenzuela if you haven't heard it yet, one of my favorites by them.
@@Insomniugh Hello Chris, I did listen to 29 another great song like the meaning of the words, Thank You for telling me about that song, hope you are well, stay safe our world is in such a chaos of hell.
I just saw them in concert, and they're even better than this performance. Awesome band! You owe it to yourselves to see them live if you have the opportunity! One of the better concerts I've gone to in years!
The song refers to True Christian conversion, and understanding of Jesus Christ, Who He is and what He did. That occurred on Allison Road just off Highway 10, At Exit 438 in West Texas. In the song, at minute 0:40 - He was lost at the time, until the Son came through. At minute 1:05 - With eyes on the Son, the road was not wide, implying the road was narrow. This was a recognition of the Narrow gate and the path that Christians follow. Here's the scripture if you'd like to reference = Matthew 7:13 and 14. …And if someone wants to blitheringly say, “well those aren't the real lyrics” - I suppose you never heard of the Mondegreen? Parables are veiled for the perishing on purpose.
This is a great performance but the engineer has got way, way too much compression on the vocals. If you can tell that it's there it's too much in my opinion. In this case, you can not only tell that it's there but it's also robbing their vocals of breath and humanity. Heavy handed to say the very least. Also throwing a couple mics in front of the acoustic guitars would have opened the sound up in a huge way instead of just settling for that midrange quack you get by just going direct. This is pretty basic engineering 101 shit. Either he didn't have a clue what he was doing or he was just lazy. Either way, it's a fail.
The Gin Blossoms are quintessential 90s. They had that total 90s sound. I was a sophomore in high school when they were big and when I hear their songs now, it always takes me back to that time. Good memories.
And I've lost my mind on what I'd find And all of the pressure that I left behind on Allison Road Fools in the rain, if the sun gets through Fire's in the Heaven of the eyes I knew on Allison Road The dark clouds fall in when the moon was near Birds fly by a.m. with a bedroom stare There was no tellin' what I might find As I couldn't see I was lost at the time On Allison road yeah I didn't know I was lost at the time on Allison Road So she fills up her sails with my wasted breath And each one's more wasted than the others You can bet on Allison Road Now I can't hide on Allison Road So why not drive on Allison Road I know I want to love her but I can't decide on Allison Road And I didn't know I was lost at the time Eyes in the sun where the road wasn't wide And I went looking for an exit sign All I wanted to find tonight On Allison Road yeah I didn't know I was lost at the time on Allison Road And I've lost my mind and if the sun gets through Fire's in the Heaven of the eyes I knew on Allison Road On Allison Road, on Allison Road, let's run
I love all of Gin Blossoms' New Miserable Experience. My teacher at Lamb Elementary School, way back in the seventies, said to listen to the whole album. The radio hit is an invitation. The art is in the rest.
Perhaps the guy's name is Matthew and 10:39 is his favorite saying and especially so if he works for a radio station with those call numbers...I personally can't get enough of Matthew 10-38 and 39...probably the 2 most awesome verses ever. Some can't figure that out but it is real simple.
The first time that i listen to the guys in my 13th birthday, they hit our radio with 'jelousy' its so hard for me to buy their album in my hometown in malaysia but still manage to get it in our capital, 'congratulation i am sorry' was the best album for me, really mesmerising my life , gin blossom, u r awesome, hats off guys
This is a good recording[Sonic bliss ear candy]. Listen in your headphones, you can hear a different guitar in each ear. I gotta hang out with the Gin Blossoms before their concert with Collective Soul. It was a slice. They tipped the cap to the Eagles by playing "Already Gone" at the sound check and to Tom Petty in concert "Even the Losers". Robin Wilson sang REMs "This One goes out to the one I Love?" with Collective Soul. Ed Roland joked that he and Robin had written the song back in 1981 in Tempe, Arizona. Funny.
It's so strange when ever I hear this song I think about a girl that died back in 1971. We were in the 8th grade and we heard that she died from a brain hemorrage. Her name was Amy Jones. Alot of the words actually make sense when I think about her. Yeah, I liked her.
I drive a Ford Focus and in my Focus I have "No Chocolate Cake", "Major Lodge Victory", "New Miserable Experience" and "Up and Crumbling" in my CD player :)
This Aquistic Studio recording is excellent! Very well done and these 3 songs are my favorite by them now just because of the way they were done here! I really love listing to them almost daily !
So sweet... love this song!
Thanks Gin Blossoms.. You make my life in 90s so beautiful....
Man, I really was born in the wrong generation. I try to like new songs but still end up with these gems. Oldschool for life!
Damn ! This is such a great song ! Aquistic version is so beautifully done !

fave gin blossoms tune

Superb version. Still play this song on my Gibson.
Wow, what a song...where has it been all my life?! The backing vocals are brilliant!
they have been here recording and touring since like 92
The guitarist doing the vocals was their original singer. They ended up switching roles later
Oh Man, This song was the reason why I named my daughter Allison and she is a gymnast now. I also keep missing these guys every time they come to visit my area. 😩
such a well crafted song
I went to a Gin Blossoms concert a few days ago and I got to meet Robin, it was so amazing... He handed me his tambourine while on stage. So amazing.
As a child of the 90s I didn't really appreciate Gin Blossoms. Now, into my 30s, I absolutely adore them.
Awesome
their sound is incredible
TOP. SONG. TOP BAND
Very underrated band. One of the better ones from the Alt wave in the 90’s.
Hail the legends.....
Solid, tight performance!

Robin is amazing.. stil got his voice... and of course all the band is great
@lebarosky actually robin wilson wrote this.

Pretty much figured that guy was gonna lose all is hair, but he looks good still. They did a great job playing this live.
gin dies not put on a bad "live"
good afternoon...
A little bit of the Babys (John Hyatt), too.
It's the radio station's slogan which studio's they play in I guess.
Sorry about this I heard I was wrong about this song's authorship.

Can't see Jesse. Move, please.

maybe teh upload fucked it up francis
Mics in front of the acoustics would open up feedback issues though.
LOL, Platinum x 10. Perhaps you can learn from them. btw, 'So Begins The End," cool song.
They old
What a great performance!
outstanding song and performance
Psych the movie got me here

The second he starts singing it's the 90's again such good and simple times.
Never goes out of style!!! I listen to this version at least once a day!!! Cheers!!!
Like all the Gin Blossoms songs I love Allison Road. Great song!!
Very unrated. Love it. Thank you. !!!
l love GIN BLOSSOMS!!
wow..still amazing!!!
Whoever decided to ruin this recording by overlaying the radio stations call station letters on top of the music should be fired
Considering it was recorded at the radio station, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Good publicity both ways.
Oops, I'm sorry I meant the garbage at 01:52. Hear it?
And I've lost my mind on what I'd find
And all of the pressure that I left behind on Allison Road
Fools in the rain, if the sun gets through
Fire's in the Heaven of the eyes I knew on Allison Road
The dark clouds fall in when the moon was near
Birds fly by a.m. with a bedroom stare
There was no tellin' what I might find
As I couldn't see I was lost at the time
On Allison road yeah I didn't know
I was lost at the time on Allison Road
So she fills up her sails with my wasted breath
And each one's more wasted than the others
You can bet on Allison Road
Now I can't hide on Allison Road
So why not drive on Allison Road
I know I want to love her but I can't decide on Allison Road
And I didn't know I was lost at the time
Eyes in the sun where the road wasn't wide
And I went looking for an exit sign
All I wanted to find tonight
On Allison Road yeah I didn't know
I was lost at the time on Allison Road
And I've lost my mind and if the sun gets through
Fire's in the Heaven of the eyes I knew on Allison Road
On Allison Road, on Allison Road, let's run
you can't get better harmony vocal than Jesus Valenzuela
oh man a beautiful upload
agree
Gin Blossoms, Soul Asylum, Lowest Of The Low, Moist, Sponge, Collective Soul, was there ever a better time for music?
drum turn on this is better than the song as recorded

quality album
great advice
70s?
Couldn’t love this band more. ❤️
audio watermarks are obnoxious. stop using them.

The Sun Club, Tempe!
x1039phoenix - This is OUTSTANDING.........great job!!
They came out in the early 90's. What do you expect, a time machine so they stay young forever?

That guitar intro is a charming variation on the The Nightcrawlers' late '60s garage-rock hit "The Little Black Egg."
I really want to see these guys live. Like, a lot. Lol. Their songs are great to jam on with my band
Christopher Pullen they're on tour right now!
they tour every year
I have an Alexa Echo Dot and Amazon will play all of the Gin Blossom songs, just ask and you have it. I like the acoustic version better.
Makes me just want to bring out my true happiness lol
So damn good!
you should seek out their rock and roll hall of fame performance. these guy just crush
I miss non-gimmick, straight forward rock bands.
We need to use Gin Blossoms in our web series. These guys are amazing!

wow, they sure remind me of the Byrds, from back in the day . . .
@wildmanba89 Yeah I learned that thanks for the correction.
There are few things more timeless than the big guitar sound.
Brings me back# throwback
Guess what. You guys are still awesome. I love the 90s.
This should have been the studio version. Real music
Great harmonies
Faces have changes, but the voice remains the same.
