  • IN this video i finally get round to fixing the worktop that I broke at the end of last year. I have used Milliput epoxy putty to fill the hole and used some acrylic paints to disguise the filler.
    Here is what I have used in this video :

    I remember watching the video after that pot jumped out of the cupboard and damaged your cooker lid.! What a great job you have done with Milliput. Like you, I'd be happy just knowing it was waterproof.

    Hi Dan, the job's done now and done very well I might add, but a couple of tips for you. When mixing the two parts together, you can add some chalk dust or baking powder to lighten the colour a wee bit. If you buy the brilliant white equivalent, you can even mix in a bit of food colouring or paint to match the surface you're working on. When smoothing it down it can get a bit crumbly. Gently work with a wet finger and you'll get a perfectly smooth and even finish. Milliput is great for oh so many repairs.

    I've done exactly the same a week ago, but mines in the work surface, so haven't got the luxury of being able to replace it. I'll get the kit, as I can use the tools for my model-making. Very helpful.

    Looks good, great job. The milliput is brilliant for fixing gaps in broken porcelain, I usually use the white and then paint.

    That's some tough plastic soup bowl ! I think that's a really good match and I'm sure come trade-in, nobody will ever spot the repair 👍.

    Milliput is great stuff, been using it for loads of things over the years.
    I heard once that it's used or was used to repair damage on oil rig legs! Not sure that's true but it does set pretty damn hard!

    We saw a caravan at our local dealer that had exactly the same problem. I didn’t want it having seen your previous video. Pretty good job in this one though.

    Hi,
    The repair looks OK and a job well done.
    My concern is that a plastic bowl can cause that damage are the bailey work top's that flimsy a concern about the quality of the surface.
    👍

      To be honest, all worktops in all makes of caravans are constructed in teh same way, a very thin skin, paper honeycomb in the centre. I was surprised a plastic soup bowl did this, but now I have a suitable repair method.

    A little bicarbonate with some grey ash mixed in, then mix into dent and drip some CA activator on makes it go rock hard, then sand

    Almost camouflaged there Dan 👍. Maybe another layer would have levelled it up and clean the over paint on the existing surface that can be seen at 9:20. That sculpting kit looked like dentistry tools 😁. All the best, Rob

      @TheTrudgians  Рік тому +1

      Hi Rob, yeah - I think someone with a bit more skill than me could truly make this disappear! I’m not sure I’d want to visit a dentist with these tools. 😂😂😂
      Hope you are all keeping well.
      Dan.

    Hi Dan, Can I just ask. We have a 640 and have stored this winter. What we have noticed when visiting last week, is that the wall in the bedroon where the tv and light is. Seems to have warped. Have you noticed this? We have just 2 days ago had it serviced and there is no reports of damp. Any thoughts??

      Hi, I have seen the delimitation of the wooden wall boards on a couple of caravans, but not experienced this personally. Might be worth a call with your dealership - and maybe a warranty claim.

      No, not at the NEC this time around, i will be at the October show though, as I have some big announcements coming soon.

      Oh, I did do this on our lunar, if I recall I diluted some PVA and stuck a torn piece back in place. Wipe over with damp cloth to remove excess. 👍

    The worktops can’t be that strong if that little plastic thing can cause that damage

  • @twerki78
    @twerki78 Рік тому

    I think that came out well. I might have been tempted to make the repair area slightly larger by cutting out the damaged peice, heating then gluing and flattening, fill the void and reinsert the peice you removed.
    If you come to buying a new cooker cover you'll have a scrap one to play around with various repair methods and we can learn together.
