Trudeau government announces 2-month GST pause on some goods

- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced the federal government is pausing the GST on a wide array of products from Dec. 14 to Feb. 15, as part of a suite of new measures meant to alleviate cost-of-living pressures. The government will also send $250 cheques to the 18.7 million people in Canada who worked in 2023 and earned $150,000 or less.
