I like Hank's quiet voice. It's such a change from his normal excited voice it makes me smile.
First of all amazing as always and ty Hank, but Jessebob i came here to actually say the oposite i like more the excited Hanks voice :)
I know it's Hank, but sometimes I still think it's another person. I have to repeatedly convince myself
The video itself is amazing but I can't stand anymore the endless flow of speech in all the videos these days.
The 9:43 minutes of footage was covered by 9:40 minutes of uninterrupted speech, that's tiresome
THAT'S HANK?!
@@blasiuspolo3836 I know, right? I had listened for months when it suddenly came to me. 😳🤭🍻🥓
I can’t believe this is the humble zebra Danio that’s so common in aquariums! I’d love to have a print of those photos, they’re truly beautiful 😍
it's also heavily relied upon in evo devo research (evolutionary developmental bio) as is the Aftican clawed frog which is also common to the aquarium hobby
I think scientists were initially interested in its zebra stripes pattern forming. It eventually became so widespread in labs that was turned into a "model species" for research (the simplest vertebrate of them)
CTRL + Print Screen, newb
We find these zebra danios swimming in even the most transient watery rice or paddy fields here in Bengal. They're extremely resilient and active little fish, both in the wild and in aquaria.
As a researcher working with micro-scale imaging, I find these kinds of both beautiful and medically relevant results inspiring.
Love this video, it's a nice break from microbiology. I use transgenic fluorescent zebrafish for investigating human craniofacial birth defects, so I appreciate a video like this showcasing what we do. When you tell people you're doing genetics work with fish to learn about human disease, it sounds really boring. I'll use this video as a visual aide now.
Im very happy that the researchers anesthetized that fish and got the cross sections via optical means rather than killing the fish to do their research.
The choice of colors and contrast reveals some solid artistic sensibility. Congratulations on the recognition to the photographer.
It's interesting how the lymphatic vessels follow the pattern of the scales down the sides of the body. Makes sense, just not something I would have thought of.
Every other creator on the planet should take note that THIS is how you do a sponsor video! Beautifully crafted, relevant to the channel theme AND seamlessly integrated. VERY well done.
What no " raid shadow legends"
Yeah maybe but matter of fact the 9:43 minutes of uninterrupted speech is tiresome.
Everybody can make a very nice good quality video but speaking non stop is ruining it, especially when you don't have the voice of Sir David Attenborough's
And no VPN BS
@@Le_Mouton_Noir Dude, you're talking like 9min is a long time.
This is my kind of party. -John
The 3D model of these images are literally how I (try to) imagine life and the physical world as. Never knew there were these detailed 3D models - I'm seriously so mind-blown!
For a couple years we have "real time" (time lapses) 3D models of live cells/animals
The semiconductor industry uses the image stacking technology to examine the test fixtures used to test microchips. The process is actually easy, with a little practice.
I have seen the cut spinal cord of a Zebrafish regrow after 3 days. I have no idea how they do it, but unlike humans they can fully recover their neurons.
It's not just zebra danios, I do a lot of fishing and have caught multiple species that at one point were literally broken yet survive and are fully functional ( kinda)
Seeing immune cells moving through lymphatic vessels in real time (7:26) in vivo is absolutely incredible!
This is amazing! These people who come up with new ways to see the world are on a whole other level. I am in awe of it.
Omg, absolutely stunning!! I couldn’t take my eyes off the gorgeous images
Absolutely!
Had to watch it on the tellie after having a look on my phone 👀
And Hank has a wonderful voice! So good on some nice loud speakers!
If you haven't watched the first episodes yet it is absolutely brilliant work, despite the fact that the latest updates on the equipment are wonderful!
Loads of love from Denmark 🤗
@@jakobraahauge7299 I need to watch them on a honest to goodness television! I can only imagine how entrancing they would be considering they cast such a magnificent spell even in small format
@@jessicaclakley3691 It's amazing like that! As good as David Attenborough!! 😍
GREETINGS FROM CHILE - I LOVE YOUR WORK, YOU SAVED MY QUARANTINE. Weed + Journey to the Microcosmos RECOMENDED.
Something about having so much life on our planet. Knowing it’s in the very soil and air we interact with. I find beautiful.
This has to be my favorite video by you, I can't wait to see how your channel will progress overtime, keep up the amazing work
I was part of a developmental biology lab recently that used a close relative of Zebrafish, Cichlids, as a way to try and understand monogamous behavior in-situ. By staining certain pathways in Cichlids and then comparing those pathways to Zebrafish's ones and scouting for differences, we're in the early stages of understanding why monogamy might arise physiologically. Zebrafish and their kin have a lot of use in science!
Hasn't this already been explored with pair bonding vs tournament species?
Thank you, Hanks, for the beautiful clip, the sound is tidy, everything But it makes you feel like you are in another world
Extraordinary. The aesthetic detail is stunningly gorgeous, but the implications of this imaging technique & all the scientific discoveries captured within this single (composite) microscopic photograph, are wondrous indeed...
This video is a whole experience, I can’t believe how much time my jaw was dropped. Just amazing
I have a school of Zebra Danios and I breed them from time to time, they indeed lay eggs when I turn on the lights every morning 😅
This picture of the zebra fish is definitely art and is absolutely beautiful!!
Simply just beautiful. Thank you for the trip Hank!
Not just something new or beautiful, but NEAUTIFUL
I study zebrafish and have worked on similar fluorescent imaging projects...SO awesome to see this research presented so beautifully!
I'd hoped the competition would get some of the images into public domain so we could legally copy and use them (as, for example a desktop image). It doesn't, so all the competition images are copyright protected unless out of copyright for other reasons. Most photo competitions don't do that, but a few do. Anyone know if a microphotography competition that does?
I've been watching these videos for weeks now and just now learned this was Hank Green!? WTF, how does this man keep showing up in my UA-cam feed. The true master of science and learning videos of the 2010's!
Same! Felt like a glitch in the matrix
What a marvelous image!
I honestly never knew that about the humble zebra fish, something so small packed something so extraordinary.
Science is amazing!
As a chef I’d like to see yeast and lacto fermenting bacteria. This channels amazing I love it
Such beauty just from a small change in the light put on it! Thank you!
0:40 Little kid: "What are those two fishies doing?" Adult: "Uhh... they're dancing... yeah, that's it... 😅"
Simply breathtaking.
Thank you Hank!
Lovely voice work - I really do appreciate that! The best thing of Journey to the Microcosmos used to be the beautiful speak, despite the amazing footage, exquisite editing, and intriguing topics! I am glad to hear you give a little ech of those magical first speaks!
🤗
And the rest of you - fantastic work! Thank you guys! 😙✨
I dont like him on scishow, use to but not anymore. way too over the top and obnoxious. Here however 👌
@@mrslinkydragon9910 early Journey was just beautiful! Hank branched out to Tik Tok - to bring in a new crew perhaps, or just because life happens and we find new paths
can't disagree with you tho
Excellent presentation, thanks Hank.
One of the most gorgeous photos I've ever seen. Absolutely beautiful!
"...for obvious...stripe related reasons." I
i am so excited I'm alive right now and able to witness these amazing discoveries..
The diatoms!!! Oh my god!!! We need a new video every day! Much love
Blown away completely! Did you notice a pair casually mating and spawning at the start of the sequence?
Woah! That was so beautiful and awesome in the fullest meaning of the word!
Beautiful and beguiling. On the one hand, majesty of creation, on the other, the nefarious possibilities.
Somebody read Square!
Most amazing they didn't add 20 seconds of buffer to make the video 10+ minutes :O I've learned so much from Hank and John Green, it truly shows they are in this to spread knowledge-profit is a side concern.
The images in this video are simply stunning. From the Nikon photography competition, to the 3d model composed of 2d images, it just reminds me that the future is here today. Seeing a 3d reconstruction of a living organism without invasive imaging just blows my mind, as it is something I'd expect to see in Star Trek or something. Our age has its problems to be sure, but there is no other time in human history I'd rather live in. Scientists from just a century ago would say we've discovered magic; what will we have to say of the people in another century or so?
SPECTACULAR!!!! The florescence of the Zebra fish was truly moving!
Always exceptional. A contribution to humanity - images and content (an aesthetic scientific scholarship - very rare)
Such a cool video. Great and relaxing video with such incredible images. I am so glad you got a sponsor like Nikon.
I love the Zebra Danios. My favourite little darlings in my aquarium. I love also the Cardinal Neon. Beautiful fish that help me healthy.
Perhaps your best video yet
I have been a subscriber for several years now to scishow and (more recently to this channel), but I never could hear Hank's voice in this channel and only realised that it is him after he said it in this video. I am mindblown right now.
It is really awesome to see as I currently work with zebrafish Danio for my master thesis! :)
Truly breathtaking
I like your style: poetic and beautiful and interesting. Thanks.
Nice to hear your calm 'Grown up' voice again: I've missed it!
these scales look so cool
Gorgeous work
This is something wonderful, thanks for sharing it with us
STUNNING
I though this was gonna be about the third eye of zebrafishes and the relation to our pineal gland, another time perhaps. This was intresting too! Beutiful images as well.
Can you believe I've been watching this channel for over a year and didn't know this was Hank Green, until he said his name now?! Only then I associated the voice xD. I watched SciShow and CrashCourse for such a long time.
Art and science go hand in hand.
Beautiful and fascinating!
This is incredible
Well show. Good information.
These are some of my favorite fish to keep. They are friendly and goofy and fun.
I had no idea this was a Hank Green voice over much less video! This version of you compared to TikTok & SciShow is massive! Mind blown! Me gusta 💯😎🔥
I watched the video, and then immediately shared a link with three fellow nerds! Great video!
Thank you sir, they choose a good judge. 👍
Excellent!!! 👏
I'm so glad I found this channel.
Stunning !!!
This channe is an island of calm in a turbulent internet. Thank you.
This is amazing, thank you ☝️
Wow, just wow!
😯 That's an Absolutely Brilliant image of a Zebra Fish, no wonder why it won.
It's just So Amazing.😄👍
Passionnant !!
This is very cool and I like it, thank you
Very beautiful.
I love these fish, i used to keep them and they happily breed in my tank :) very active and lively too
So cool after Antonie van Leeuwenhoek these microscope videos are still from a lot of Dutch people.
That's the most beautiful thing I saw today.
Really Amazing
Very interesting video!
I honestly had no idea it was Hank Green behind the voice. No wonder i find these videos awesome!
so flippin cool
This is remarkable.
I always wondered if a transparent fish got big enough to fillet, would you grill it up and it would be a clear fish you eat for dinner?
WOW, JUST WOW.
Stunningly beautiful.🖤🇨🇦
So amazing...
The termite gut … WOW! 😲🙌
Beautiful
Awesome🔬
There you go getting me inspired for art again
That blew my mind.
Amazing stuff
I'm genuinely surprised this channel hasn't hit 1mil yet
Confocal creates a depth of field by stacking the images
This was so so so beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍
Watching in 2022 when we found genes that could regenerate hearing in Zebrafish. Truly in awe of nature.
You earned a sub brother. Its so inspiring 🙌 ❤ ✨ 💖
