It’s really nice of you to educate all the people on kart technology- too many people try to keep all the information in the paid tents so they can sell success to rich guys
Good video dez, informative, would be really cool if you did this again but had a chassis brand mechanic throw in some changes they recommend and see how they turned out
Yeah, I agree that’d be good. It mostly time dependent, as in we always run out of damn time. The KR was pretty much set as class winning set up. The arrow was standard parts as delivered from brand new. If that helps for the guys watching at home

Derek you can't run ROK GP at 70 degrees on water. Optimal is 50 degrees. If you run 70 then the engine looses a lot of power. Also check if you have the old spec of power valve. The new one which was introduced this year makes the engine better in higher RPMs and you gain more top speed. It would be also good to have EGT sensor because if you run the stock 145 jet which is in the carb from factory, it's really too rich :))
Awesome feedback. I’ll get the EGT set up in the new year. Can you suggest a range min - max EGT to shoot for ??

@PowerRepublic for practice it's good to stick around 630deg. Race spec is 670-680. It survives 700 but not for too long. Just keep in mind that these temperatures are ran on european 100 octanes. I am not sure if you have the same spec of fuel. And also these temperatures are for EGT welded 7.5cm from the edge of the exhaust. Every centimeter makes a 20-25 degrees difference. And yes that's MyChron 5/5s numbers. Mainly get the water temps lower. 70 is really high and the aluminium head doesn't like that 😁👍
Looks like I'm in an Arrow again next year. I will find out at round one in February. I was a little surprised at the top speed. About 5 years ago, I ran a SEK twin Honda on SL1's at 185kg, seeing 107kph top speed into the pit corner (left-hander) in the 12hr race.
How about more of a kart comparison than engine. Use the same exact X30 on OTK, KR and Arrow and the same weights and let's see those lap times. My guess would be KR then Arrow then OTK. The tyres we currently have in Australia are killing OTK unfortunately.
I'm a dad and with a 10 year old lad, I can't find any information on the correct gearing for any tracks in the UK. My sons kart is a KR with a iame water swift, when I ask other people at the tracks no one seems to know because they all mainly use Rotax or Honda gx200. I've looked at various charts online but they are ether out of date or don't show iame water swift engine gearing for track. Is there any way of working out the correct gearing for. Certain tracks, right now I'm using a 75 for tracks witch seem to have more straights and then I tend to put 79 or 80 gear on for tracks that have more corners or airpin corners.
@PowerRepublic I did a screen shot on my phone 8 weeks back from his Mychron5s and the info from his best 3 laps were as follows below, if this helps. Gear 79 / 10 Lap 7, (Time 54.97) RPM 14082 / 6308 (mph 54.4 to 23.9). Lap 8, (Time 55.14) Rpm 14015 / 6801 (mph 54.3 to 24.3) Lap 10, (Time 55.20) Rpm 14122 / 6061 (mph 54.8 to 22.0) The track raced on is called Fulbeck in Lincolnshire England, conditions were dry, sunny with temperatures around 23 to 20 Celsius, track is visible on Google earth maps.
What tracks do you need in the uk? I’ll try and help. Water swift is brand new in uk really.. 2 years max so everyone is testing to find out still… more you test the faster u will learn. You just go to the tracks and test it. You got the right way, less teeth for longer straights, shorter straights more teeth 👍

Anytime legend. Most important is go educate yourself and go to the track and get the reps in

Interesting! I think the track you were racing at might have some specific characteristics that changed the top speed.
chassis tests would be ideal using the same engine/drivers, set the corner weights between the karts the same to keep it even ?
That's what I'm hoping to do in the future.
OTK v’s KR maybe ?
Corner weight and vertical centre of gravity would be a good idea.
Vcg makes a huge difference to kart performance!
Kart Republic/X30 reigns supreme!
👊👊
Another fabulous video!! :)
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed it!

Maybe for round 2 we do OTK v’s KR ???
Please explain. Why are the tyres in Australia disadvantaging OTK? Too much grip? Too little grip?
did the tires on both karts have the same amount of wear?
Yeah both sets were approx 60 laps on each. Plus when you use the second driver it really helps do the comparison
Hi, are the sprocket sizes the same on both karts? I see that max rpm achieved on the GP ROK is 14,390. That is another 600rpm to the top.
Approx the same rear. But the ROK has a 11t front and 10t front on the X30
@@PowerRepublic cool. you reckon with a small bigger sprocket on the GP ROK, the kart will timed better?
Can we get KR vs OTK?
Maybe that one should be next up ?
Is OTK competitive against those 2 brands, Arrow and KR?
Yes
Not at all iv backed it with an arrow and it was alot easier to drive with alot more stability do NOT get a otk at the moment
Maybe we should do an OTK v’s arrow next ?
@@PowerRepublic Yes please do! 👍
How would a 2024 rotax max Evo compare to these two engines in laps times and drivability?
I've been hearing the KR chassis are toast after just one season of racing. What's your experience with that?
You'll get one season out of it if you're lucky.
@ doesn’t sound like a great investment unless you have too much disposable income
You can use your kart for as long as you want. But for race victories I think new chassis what ever brand are better
@ I think it depends on the driver and the beating the chassis has taken. I have seen 5yo chassis win events more than once.
One season……The big OK teams change after 1 meeting…!…
Could you do 1 chassis brand but 2 diff engine. Like x30 vs rok
Great idea , which engines you want to see ?
@PowerRepublic x30 vs rok
@@PowerRepublic hi dez. Would you be able to perform rok gp with levanto tires vs iame x30 with komet tires with one chassis setup?
What do we think of parolins vs krs and arrows?
Also what about the new barrel rotaxs into this mix too?
Parolin on top
Yeah the rotax is coming back in TAG configuration for sure. The parolin was just in front of me in the first run , did you see it ?
@@PowerRepublicdidn't realise that was a Parolin haha but that's convenient
Should have the same engine too
Come right up
Yeah Zac 🏆
Yeah he was number 1 all year
Rok GP has a Nikasil coated cylinder not a cast iron.
Not the ones I have seen and repaired

KR all the way

X30
Yep
sodi
👍
Dude you cant put the rok gp on one kart and expect the x30 to keep up
Yeah we can. At some tracks it’s close. I reckon it’s just the rpm range of the X30 that beats the ROk and the rotax
