- Doom Dark Ages is no better time than for Id Software to dive deeper into the rich lore and history of the Doom Slayer and the, now, deep and complex universe of Doom.

I genuinely love how ID made NuDoom's plot. You can ignore it, but the lore and plot are pretty deep so long as you pay attention.
Hell, Dark Ages is literally a sequel to Doom 64. And even back when it came out, it *TRIED* to give Doomguy some character. Detailing PTSD, having the reformed UAC rely on him alone thanks to his experience against the demons during 1 and 2, etc.
Despite not having much plot, Doom 1, 2, and 64s' plots were really solid.
in lore the original trilogy of doom is rather good even doom 3 which takes place in a different part of the multiverse but it’s still has a uac earth and has portals that open to hell for an invasion just like the og universe at the time of doom 3 the slayer was trapped in hell so that explains why it came out after 64 and doesn’t have a slayer or doom guy just some op marines i’m rlly enjoying modern doom as well now tho because the stuff they added connects pretty well if you think about it
There is a 3 hour long video on UA-cam that connect the whole lore from the start - Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom, 64, Doom 3, even the mobile games Doom RPG, and of course the modern Doom games. There was always a lot of lore, there is also an old series of Doom books, they were 3 or 4 and I read the first 2 when I was a teenager, they were fantastic, even if the story isn't canon to the actual Doom games.
Im became a nerd for doom lore sense eternal. It's not best lore you can get out there , but by god, it hocks you on it . I only hope they still give the choice for skipping the cutseens to players who don't much care for the lore or playing camp for second time.
World building is a fascinating thing
They’ll definitely have the skip cutscenes button. So many people would freak out about it if it wasn’t there.
There should be a option in menu "skip cutscenes" that prevents the videos from even starting to load :)
I wonder how big are the maps gonna be. Hopefully large enough for this game to almost be mistaken for an open world (even though it’s not, supposedly).
i don’t expect them to be much bigger maybe longer doom has levels and missions not open worlds it doesn’t really make too much sense either if it was open world ngl
I wouldn’t mind a Metro Exodus type situation, levels that are miniature open worlds, with other levels that are more linear. I am an open world junkie if it’s a _good_ open world.
Why? I'll take smaller focused levels over larger levels any day
@@diddlenfiddle7311 I don’t think that’s going to be an issue for this game. Regardless of whether they’re open or linear or whatever, I have completed confidence in Hugo Martin and the creative team at ID.
More doom story the better I'm glad the doomslayer is doomguy its alot less messy than many different hero's we play and not as interesting as they lined everything up
Doom novels would be sick but also kind of tricky since he’s a silent protagonist
There is a 3 hour long video here on UA-cam, it connects the stoey coherently from all the Doom games, even the most obscure ones like the mobile games - Doom RPG. Doom lore has always been there and always been fascinating, there is also the debate of how it ties up to the Wolfenstein and Commander Keen universes.
The comic turned into a DLC, the DLC turned into The dark ages, it was always that hole they were preparing to fill
The comic should be in between 2016 and Eternal, no? How he acquired Fortress of Doom etc.
@@blazkowicz_the_3rd810 That would be irrelevant to the lore, i think it's better to know where the fortress end up after The dark ages by The dark ages itself so we can already have an idea of where The Doomslayer went to, the space between games doesn't have something important to say
@@kerbextermatismphonos I mean, why not both, it would not be that irrellevant, they could expand the story behind it
I could never imagine DOOM 64 could have such amazing sequel.
It was a VERY UNDERRATED Doom game at the time of its release and still is. So, since I am huge fan of this unique Doom game I feel very happy Id Software has made this amazing and decent sequel.
New doom lore is really fun to dig into. So the story aspect of new doom is the icing on top of an already delicious cake. Personally speaking.
I’ve never gotten into video game books or like, Star Wars books, but if some Doom books start coming out I’m probably gonna get into them.
I hope we get to experience fighting the titan that attacked Taras Nabad. Or at least see more detail of it.
Let’s Go! Cynic to be part of the Doom expansion projects or moderate some Q&As
I remember a while back when Midnight was interviewing Martin he asked about a lore book and I believe Martin said that he would love to do a Doom bible book that covers all the lore. Hopefully we can get that soon!! I was looking around for a art and making for Doom the dark ages but unfortunately there’s nothing out yet, I think the art book is only a digital version that comes with the premium and collectors editions 🥺
I would be so intrested in a lore vidéo thank you
We can thank avengers endgame for that cutscene lol
Bruh... The Phat-Makyr.
I heavily suspect he is the God-Father.
I’m so fucking stupidly hype for this game I can’t e plain. I’d bet my next paycheck they will be shippable, but that first playthrew their gonna be fire I know it
Tbh I’d want novels funny enough I think novels would be too limiting for the lore plus I like the idea that we are reading hidden lore lost to time weither on purpose or not
ID Software does story and lore for the games and characterization for the Slayer much better than other gaming franchises like Halo, which rely too much on long cutscenes and convoluted worldbuilding or worse, forcing you to buy additional stuff like novels to try to understand a damn thing of what's going on and why.
Wow long time no see cynic
With an update.
This is going to be awesome
Lore videos are really fun, as are books
When doom the dark ages comes out are you going to interview Hugo again?
I already started looking into it lol. As of now its too early to say anything. But i am trying to. I hope it all works out. If not before than perhaps after the release of the game
@ nice you should ask him if they are going to put golden guns in the campaign dlc like they did with tag 2 for beating the dlcs on nightmare difficulty again
Doom isn't really Doom anymore.. it lost it's core essence long ago
Kill demons from hell with shotguns seems pretty on topic
