Thanks for the recommendation! This team was super fun to watch and learn about! I tried my hardest to understand the Jimmy situation so my apologies if Anything wasn’t referenced. Feel free to link the official documents below.. Thanks! Glad to be back! Cya next weekend!
Hi I have a recommendation maybe a video on why some nhl teams wear/ wore away jerseys while they were home or home jerseys when they were away I have seen that in a lot of older clips but I love the vids
Yup and the comment of "giving it all", as in crime money almost three times the salary cap.. This is in no way a story to look up to, apart from the sons love for hockey.
Ya probably would be, President of the team at age 17 with no education to manage it that would be a hard spot. A kid who knows nothing with a bunch of adults like wtf and can’t even say shit
@@t1mpetti EVERYONE in the minors on all levels were spending big under the table to land NHL guys they'd never have access to again. The lockout created a wild west environment in the minors and the European leagues.
The kids smart. He built a team identity and chemistry that not only brought fans to the arena and produced results. Shame he had to go through the mob. Never mess with the mob.
For anyone that wants to learn more about this, I highly recommend the documentary about this on Netflix. Very good movie. (Accidentally deleted the original comment oops)
Along with Jimmy, several other team executives got arrested,, not for mob activities, but for conspiracy to commit wire fraud to doctoring the salary figures they sent to the UHL to circumvent the cap. I had a friend at the time who worked for an AHL team who said there was a lot of head-scratching going on because two players they were trying to sign opted to sign in Danbury to play in the UHL, a lower level of hockey. It's not hard to build a competitive team in the minors when your payroll is triple the salary cap.
I really really liked this, do you think you'll be doing more storytelling about teams? Like Whalers, Nordiques (not the PHL ones lol), Thrashers, etc. and why they don't exist anymore?
Rumun Ndur coaches the Midget AAA team around here, in London. He's a pretty well spoken and friendly guy from what I've seen. The way he talks, it feels like he'd probably be the last guy to be a NHL enforcer, but you can tell he's tough as nails.
I fucking love your videos, bro! Great stuff. I wish you would take a look at the European hockey scene too. There is a lot of shit going down there. Maybe not the mafia, but still. Lol. Cheers, bro
@@idontgivetkachuk Cool! I will be the first one to watch it. The Canadian teams west of Ottawa and east of Vancouver are doing great this season. I'm Swedish and my favorite team is the Maple Leafs (as you you might have figured). The Jets, Flames, Oilers and Leafs are all doing great this far! But what the f is going on down in Arizona? Maybe you could do a video on that? Something is very bad in the desert.
You should cover the senior semi-pro hockey league in the Maritimes that Rob Wells and Jean Paul Tremblay of Trailer Park Boys owned. It was fun, goofy, and awesome.
My daughter LOVED David Beauregard in the UHL...... ! she was really upset when he was traded. The guy had great speed and hands for scoring, but only one eye.
I don't know how the Trashers set attendance records. The Danbury Ice Area was by far the smallest arena in legit minor pro hockey. I've been there, and the alleged seating capacity of 3,000 looked like they were stretching it to me.
Grew up going to the Kalamazoo Wings and Dude...The team was fun but holyhell! Was too little to remember but my Dad and family have stories about this team in the 2006 UHL Playoffs. Still going to K-Wings games (still in the ECHL) but what a wacky time.
Another thing, in a neighboring town, the Dorchester Junior "C" team likes to use the same tricks the equipment manager of the Trashers did. I remember a heated suspension and OHA rule change after the Dorchester Dolphins would get their starting goaltender to walk to the opposing crease and dump salt and rocks in the blue paint to soften and rough up the ice so that the opposing goalie could hardly stand up, let alone move around.
he didn't really buy this team for his son out of love lol and the son knows this. Jimmy bought it to solely launder money. saying he bought the team for his son as a gift is something for his defence lawyers to use to try and avoid premeditation charges but i doubt that would hold up in court lol. laundering money through a sports team seems like a pretty damn good way to clean dirty money though, because of a) buying the team, obviously and b) all the expenses that come with owning a team and some of them are costly this was a good one and thanks for putting it together for us Mr. idontgivetkachuk
Im from where the new Danbury team came from (wilkes barre pa), I honestly would put up a petition to have them change there nome to the trashers say "sign" if you would sign
I didn't know fight was allowed in hockey. So when watching this team i was shocked first because of violence. But finally now i know more,i'm fan !!!!! What a pity it's over!!!!
I've heard of this interesting documentary on NETFLIX. I read a lot of fictional Mafia books, I'm sure the mob still owns certain percentages of other sport teams. Would you rather have "Ice shoes?"" or "cement shoes?" Either way someone is going to the bottom of a river, lake ,pond, creek or pool.
I was just about to comment that. It was the no show employees who got paid. The players were treated like they were a part of the Mafia. And paid like one.
This is what happens when you give a 17 year old kid a hockey team and a pile of money. What he managed to accomplish in a very short period of time is impressive. Started from scratch and within 2 years managed to build a competitive exciting to watch team that put butts in seats every night in their own arena as well as other teams arenas. Any new team that comes into the league in any sport and generates that kind of excitement from the fans in just a couple years is a really good thing. Shame the Justice Department had to shut it all down, it's too bad they couldnt cut a deal to keep the team running.
He exceeded a salary cap of 275k by 450k kind of makes judging his success difficult? I think its Netflix has a 1.5 hour documentary on this story, the son was not without skills for sure but like I say tough to really judge?
In the documentary they said "t-bome" was ajs middle school hockey coach who would full out crack the kids and his results cocaine is one hell of a drug
Someone watched the full length documentary on Netflix then decided to make his own video using the exact same information. Clever. Its called Untold series on Netflix.
I was moreless tryna share the side of the Father Son bonding over hockey side of the story as its the most pleasant rather than just shitting all over Jimmy.

What the documentary doesn't touch on is that Beauregard and the brothers were only there in the second season. While Ndur and Gretzky weren't there the second one. Obviously Rupp was only there during the lockout too but he was in fact there before some of the important characters. The lockout was during the first season not their second season.
Mike Rupp was certainly not a top scorer on the Devils. He never scored 10 goals when he played for them and only had one 10+ goal season in his entire career.

He got Dwane "The Rock" Johnson to come to AJ's birthday party when he was a kid... he can do no wrong after that.

You should do a video on the history of Danbury hockey. The trashers arena has seen many teams such as. Titans, Whalers, Hat Tricks, and Mad Hatters.
Don't forget their NEHL team, the New England Stars!
I watched the netflix documentary last night. Really awesome and honestly such a strange story. The jerseys are crazy nice
