At 19:55 you mentioned not taking the exhaust manifold heat shield off as you'll just take it off in one go with the heads. But then you cut to having to remove it. Just wondering why that was? Does the heat shield need to be out the way to reach all the head bolts?
I've started doing a top end refresh on my '01 P38 and my next step is tackling the exhaust manifolds D:

Hiya, Thanks for watching, I have just re watched that bit but they are still attached when I pulled the head, I did bend the shield slightly to get the socket on to the bolt but the shields still on there at 24:04 when the heads removed. If you can remove it would be better but sometimes they are just to badly corroded/seized. Good luck with yours drop me an email if you get stuck.

@@LandyManLewis Cheers mate! I got the passenger side off today. Ended up being able to remove the heat shield and manifold without unbolting from the cats. Much to my surprised, as my headshield bolts looked about as munted as yours.
Unfortunately I spilled a bunch of coolant into my 4th cylinder :| Is that what happened to your 3rd cylinder at 25:00 ? or is that just oil.
