Il Matrimonio Segreto is Cimarosa's most famous opera buffa and it is one of the few comic operas to have maintained its place in the repertoire until today. At its first performance in 1792, Austrian emperor Leopold II is reputed to have liked this masterpiece so much that he ordered the musicians to play it again from the beginning! Michael Hampe's elegant, colourful production had already won international acclaim when staged in Paris, Stockholm and London - where it won the Olivier Award for Best Opera Production. His stage direction is sensitive to the music's flow and brings a welcome clarity to the many twists and deceptions in the plot. The Drottningholm Court Theatre Orchestra, an outstanding orchestra for early music, is specialized in music of the 17th and 18th century - their authentic interpretation sounds extremely fresh and colourful, and the playing is always full of energy and contrasts.
Buenisima produccion, voces y actuacion. Mil gracias!!!
Bella rappresentazione! Complimenti a tutti! Molto bravi! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The story is that after Emperor Leopold of Austria heard this opera, he ordered dinner for the entire cast and then demanded an encore of the whole opera. He gave the composer a gift of money almost the equivalent of two years of Mozart's salary (Mozart had died only two months prior to the performance of this opera in Vienna).
Cimarosa the best!!! ❤️
XD
😮
Bellissima, grande regia e recitazione
Lei è sicuramente di bocca buona
Thanks for posting, giving me an opportunity to see this rarity. Even if I was less thrilled by it than other commenters.
I love this opera!
Bravissimi !
Bravissimo! It's one of the best operas, which I can heared!
What a lovely and enjoyable opera. The influence of Mozart is obvious.
There are some inevitable similarities as the two composers were writing similar style operas at virtually the same time, however the ‘influence’ of Mozart on Cimarosa is virtually zero.
Mozart knew and understood Italian opera inside out, he had views on it, and assimilated many of its best features; it became a vehicle for some of his very greatest music.
Mozart's influence only got in Italy because Rossini found some Mozart's scores in school, his colleges even made fun of him calling him "il Tedeschino" (the little German)
@@kapellmeisterr it is always important to learn something new with persons that know more than us. Many thanks for the information and clarification.
ouep

Great stuff. If you like Mozart's Da Ponte operas, this one is a sure bet.
C' mon ... we all know Mozart is ten times better !!
@@Shost7 No, we do not know it unless ideology poisons your mind.
@@pepehaydn7039 it' s your choice... if you prefer Coca Cola over Champagne... !!
@@Shost7 Cimarosa isn't Coca-Cola, he wrote more than 100 operas lol, and was acclaimed in all Europe...
@@Shost7 Mozart is extremely overrated, that's obvious. In their time, Cimarosa, Salieri and others were much more successful, not by chance. The public of the time judged objectively, and not influenced by the romantic legend of Mozart. And since "Champagne and Coca-Cola" is a joke of Callas, it is the occasion to recall that she herself found Mozart bland and boring, these are her words.

Bellissimo❤️
peccato per l'italiano approssimativo del cantante
Brava Carolina invece
Una voce un pò caprina.
Anche sull accento avrei qualcosa da ridire 😅
