As someone with a background in construction and general interest in building and creating things, hearing Lou narrate his ideas and workflow was excellent. Hopefully he can get a nice big shed/workshop for his tools one day!!
So glad you enjoyed the video :) And yes, a great workshop is a dream!! Thanks so much for spending some time with us this week, we wish you all the best with whatever projects you may have going on at the moment!
What an awesome idea for a Tiny Home. Wonder if u could put them on top of each other. I'd do a 40 ft on bottom & 20 ft top and left over roof space a deck. So cool.
I’m chasing down the Sunday morning chores, squeezing in a wild swim, and then I will spend the day in my kitchen catching up with produce from the greenhouse and the garden… making pickles, baking zucchini muffins, blanching & freezing green beans (so many beans), and making pasta sauce to freeze for winter (so many tomatoes). I know I will appreciate all of this come winter time although, truthfully, I can think of things that are much more tempting to do such as sewing, knitting, riding my bike, and other hobbies. With that said… I must admit that when I am not in the kitchen or outside… you know where I can be found? You guessed it… I’m in my office. Oh, the joy of having space to think, create, and organize one’s life!! I just know you both will love the luxury of a whole ‘nother container space that allows for all your creative enterprises. I’m going to watch today’s video later this evening when I can put my feet up and enjoy without interruption. This high school sewing teacher is getting ready to go back to school in two weeks so I must indulge in my Sunday evening pleasures while I still can. Two Sunday’s from now I will be packing my lunch and ironing my dress shirts… UGH!! Thanks for today’s great video. Lotsa Love, Ⓜary🇨🇦💦🍅
Thank you and what I enjoyed the most was the 'third time around' benefits which were thrown into the narration. A valuable reource for people currently planning any remote construction.
We feel so blessed and grateful!! Especially with all the help along the way :) Thanks so much for the kind words and joining us on this building adventure! Wishing you a beautiful rest of your week, MaryAnn!
I would never have believed it was possible to do your own spray foam. I’m sure you would get good stats if you done a a detailed video of what you used and step by step guide of that process
In regards to the sealant and waterproofing stuff i I find that using too much makes it less sealed. Just like excessive silicon caulking when you use too much the wash gets destroyed and doesn’t last. It’s much better to just use the right amount and press in to the area being sealed and remove excess. In many years of experience I have noticed that over use of sealant causes the sealant to break down faster and lose seal. Don’t use too much everyone. Not only does it look bad but it effects the longevity of the seal!
Rather than creating a separate sealant post, I would like to add to this effort. I use this urethane based ILO the silicone type mainly because it's paintable. If you ever get silicone sealant on anything, it's a bear to get off and very difficult to get paint to stick to it. So, I fully agree with the above post. Enough is just the right amount. The excess can be rubbed away with a paper towel saturated with isopropyl alcohol solvent. If no alcohol, I have had really good luck with a one or two inch wide strip of plastic bag polyethylene, maybe a foot long for ease of use, or longer if no wind. After sealant is pushed into the fillet, lay the plastic strip down over the sealant and gently push it into the fillet. Sounds weird, but it works. A week later, pull the plastic strip off. It will come off easily once the sealant is cured.
I really appreciate every second of your time for making this video🙏. Honestly my opinion if you enjoy doing the foaming spray job go work for a week for free with some professionals and you will see you only needed some adjustments in your technic and that is it. I loved what you guys have done👍.

For some strange reason I am not able to delete one or the other. I guess I’ll just sum it up by saying that two comments means twice the video watching pleasure… haha!! Ⓜary💕
Haha well good thing your comment was so charming it was worth reading twice!! ❤ Wishing you lots of relaxation and enjoyment these two weeks before school starts back up again!! Big hugs from us
Wow another great successful build again Lou, you really are very talented. The office container looks amazing and it is incredible to see the process with each stage in one video. Have a great week x
So my thought is that it would be better to use angle iron to build the window frames instead of the 3” plate steel that you did. 2 reasons. First it is more structural than the plate. Second it would create a nice flush frame on the inside that you can hide a ton of sealant behind. Thoughts?
I am curious, will you paint the containers, or a cool airbrush, a painting like trees etc. on the outside. Would be maybe a fun project for Dana😊! I also think about the style of your tattoos for an outside design!?

See I would raise the floor slightly or have the whole thing raised up so there is a pocket under the whole container or flooring. I say this because I'd there is a pocket you can build a furnace that leads to the pocket of empty space, hot air would go into the space and heat the floor. Simple heated flooring that only requires to burn some wood
So... no electricity run through the walls?... but I'm sure you have a plan that will work. Plumbing too... I guess that's in another location. No need for a sink in the office I guess... Thanks for sharing this with us.
I love it! I have a question about the walls. I’m curious about your choice for plywood over other materials like drywall. It’s aesthetic, efficiency, cost, longevity? Or like all of the above haha. I love how it looks I’m genuinely just curious about how you decided on design choices! I would like to hear more about both of your design ideas and plans. You both have a great eye. Great job! Alsooo the narration was fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
I once saw someone run there plumbing and electric on the outside insulating and putting a type of siding or cladding on the outside, it maximized the inside space, just a thought ...
This is so satisfying to watch LOL Super curious now that the three containers are (more or less) done, if theres a vid you would do on is there anything that you wish you would have changed or done differently throughout the whole process (ie add a window here or there, made a window larger/smaller, maybe have the connect or not in a different way, what projects to expect now that the three are built out, sooooooo curious! Congrats Lou and Dana!!!
Question and if this has been answered before just say so and I will look around. But why did you frame out to what looks like 6 inches away from the wall of the container?
Here in my country, the technicians do it very differently, nothing frame on the inside, chipboard is attached with sheet metal screws, the screws are filled, from the outside a metal frame made of square tubes 30x30mm is welded all around the Countainer, sheets are welded at the bottom so that nothing gets in ants, moise, and water, then fill it with down plates, you know these green steropur ungaefer 50mm thick, these are also normally used when building houses then you can cover it with whatever you want, stone, wood, plaster To process plaster, use a wire mesh with holes ungaefer 50x40mm, these are welded, and over it a huener wire with very small holes, which is connected with wire, then throw a hand of plaster cement with sand on it, when it is dry, the cement sand and lime or white marble sand, you can also use finished plaster, in bags So you have clean space inside, oh don't forget a roof is built over the container, either with sheet metal or with original roof tiles, raw or yellow like sand color
Heres a question for this, one i never see answered on any build. Are all windows available a standard size and you know what to cut or your order is already in and you have the paperwork that states the dimensions. Basic i know but i have to hear it

@@WildWeRoam For painting the outside since its not a straight wall using a broom with plastic strands would probably work the best.

Pretty dope!
Looks like you are losing a decent amount of space with the framing choice. Does it feel more cramped?
Great video! Office looks beautiful, Lou. You do such a wonderful job 👏👏👏👏

Lou, terrific job ! You've done an amazing job on all of the containers.
Thank you so much, Sharon! Thats really kind of you to say ❤
Ok that was pretty impressive!
Quick, simple, brilliant!!! 👏💪
Awesome. I can’t wait to see what you do with the exterior of the containers.
Yes, so many more projects to do! Excited about them too :) Thanks for the kind words, Susan!!
Awesome Job, very inspirational
I so would have appreciated a big picture view of the finished project.
Great idea ❤
I love the single pane non opening picture window. It'll last longer than windows that open and close too. Nicely done!
So glad you like it, we are so happy with it, too ❤ Hope you are having a really nice week!!

nice job, but where is the electric?

What about electrical and plumbing?
Great video, thanks but a question for you. Why didn’t you insolate on the outside then you would’ve had more room on the inside
How much of a gap do you need for the frame vs the container walls?
So... no electricity run through the walls?... but I'm sure you have a plan that will work. Plumbing too... I guess that's in another location. No need for a sink in the office I guess... Thanks for sharing this with us.

Oh what a cool idea! There definitely are some things, like any project. Thanks so much, Chelsea 😀 Hope you are having a really nice Tuesday!!
Why are the walls built out so far from the walls of the container? Aren’t you losing valuable interior space?
Gara2 tiktok kesini😅😂
just a question u didn't run any wiring for lights or power points before u put the plywood on ??? why.
What was the spray insulation you used please ?
Question and if this has been answered before just say so and I will look around. But why did you frame out to what looks like 6 inches away from the wall of the container?
where did you get that electric roof vent from??
I envy you!
Hi i like what you have done just one question why have you puþt the windows one end of the room as it is dark the other end love your channel
Can I aask, how hard is it to weld container steel?
Great work!... What did it all cost?
quick question. Did you keep the van or sell it? seems like a great tool for vacations when you need to get away from the land
Here in my country, the technicians do it very differently, nothing frame on the inside, chipboard is attached with sheet metal screws, the screws are filled, from the outside a metal frame made of square tubes 30x30mm is welded all around the Countainer, sheets are welded at the bottom so that nothing gets in ants, moise, and water, then fill it with down plates, you know these green steropur ungaefer 50mm thick, these are also normally used when building houses
then you can cover it with whatever you want, stone, wood, plaster
To process plaster, use a wire mesh with holes ungaefer 50x40mm, these are welded, and over it a huener wire with very small holes, which is connected with wire, then throw a hand of plaster cement with sand on it, when it is dry, the cement sand and lime or white marble sand, you can also use finished plaster, in bags
So you have clean space inside, oh don't forget a roof is built over the container, either with sheet metal or with original roof tiles, raw or yellow like sand color
можно было сделать направляющие бруски прямо к контейнеру сваркой за счет потолочных крепежей для гипсокартона. тогда места было бы значительно больше
Would it be easier to assemble the frame first and then weld the frame into the cutout, or is that more difficult?
Heres a question for this, one i never see answered on any build. Are all windows available a standard size and you know what to cut or your order is already in and you have the paperwork that states the dimensions. Basic i know but i have to hear it
Is this a 20 feet or 40 feet container?
cool
Should have end wall of doors with storage and plumbing and electrical
Future solar panel closet
I think you should stack a 40ft on top of the 3 containers you already have.
❤❤❤
A recip or circular saw with the proper metal blade will work much better, cleaner, less mess, less burrs, and way faster and easier.
I don't know if you have tried.i am not a frammer , ty a plumb bob for your doors. You can get them close enough.
Once the conainer is framed is what is the actual floor space width reduced to?
When will this be listed on Airbnb?
As a retired builder it looks like you have gone way over the top with the insulation and also the amount of space lost with the stud work , if you had of used metal studs and reflected insulated board inside you could have gained about 3 inches around the whole room and of course you can always insulate from the outside as well adding to the appearance of the container as well
You could build out shipping containers for other people to make a living.
Why not inset sliding glass door with container doors for light and security
I would love for you to come help build my shipping container home😊.
No electrical outlets?
