My favorite play from Emanon's tournament this weekend was cracking a full Drytron board with Meltdown (negated), Fusion Destiny (negated), Fusion Destiny (negated), Nadir Servant sending N'tss to out DPE, Mystic Mine to lock with Celestial grinning from hand. Isn't playing autowins fun?
I know Aleister is a tiresome boogeyman at this point, but i always enjoyed how thematic his archetype is. Using a mage to master the elements and summon all kinds of monstrosities is a really cool idea, i just feel his Fusions are a bit too effective(to say the least) considering he's basically a recyclable one card Fusion
I mean, according to the RL Aleister Crowley, Aiwass told him with the The Book of The Law (referenced in Magistus Invocation): "Do whatever you desire", so he choose fuse with anything but DIVINE.
the mistake was almiraj and gardna enabling the best invoked monster to be easily summonable through a one card combo, MBT here mentions that Nibiru is light because for a while having lights mattered for shaddoll (construct) and invoked (mechaba) but like your handtrap attributes don't matter when links are free to summon. If Aleister weren't a one card combo he simply wouldn't be played, if for example gardna had not been printed even, we wouldn't have this ongoing meme of him being the go-to NS for 5 years, that meme would only begin existing once Artemis was released, that's about 4 less years, but ygo players tend to focus on the wrong cards to ban anyways, so I guess I can't expect much from them when they clamor for Aleister's ban as if suddenly other NSummons will look better in comparison (spoiler alert, they don't, basically it's just brave token, that's pretty much the only NS I can imagine on a similar power level) but of course instead of complaining to konami about how so many archetypes get crap normal summons, it's easy to hyperfocus on hating on archetype and blame it for all the problems that Konami cooked into insert fav archetype here
The drawback of the engine has always been the load of extra deck space it takes up, really limiting what you can play with him. Unless you run a small list of Fusions making his recouring use less effective.
Imo, it's amazing and good for the game when archetypes last this long, especially without being overly dominant. I really dislike the forced rotation that konami effectively implements through the banlist.
I mean it’s amazing that he last this long but… good? It’s boring af to see people just throw it in every single deck that doesn’t use their normal summon and makes any deck it’s in just be boring too.
I also do like it when old cards resurge to relevance unexpectedly, like token collector, forbidden chalice, vylon cube. But sometimes archetypes as strong as aleister end up restricting card design to "you're either much better than aleister as a normal summon or you aren't played", so I think it could be cool if they just gave the engine a slap on the wrist with like meltdown to 1. It opens up to other strong normal summons like pay reflector, which depending on the match up can be any synchro from lvl 5 to 9, which include Draco berserker of the tenyi, omega, Shenshen, wolfaryet or whatever you may want.
I like to think in the lore without Ecclesia and Fleur, their main priestess and Knight, they turned to a literal heretic to balance their power while searching for replacements
I know normal summon Aleister is a meme for the deck being simple. But holy crap this deck has so many decision points. I took it to a regional without much prep, and the deck is strong but you have to be so careful about your sequencing, what you send off Prosperity. Its definitely a deck that is harder to play than it appears.
"Often my opponents are on a better Deck than me, but this time it just looked like they knew what they were doing and I didn't." The result of "Normal Summon Aleister" being a thing for five years.
Hey, just think: after invoked gets hit (if it ever does) you can just trade it out for normal summon Aluber. See? If you look past the fact that it's a normal summon play starter in a fusion-based deck starting with "Al", it's COMPLETELY different (oh, and since paradise branded is a thing in alba strike, they even have a searchable meltdown).
At the very least then maximus becomes slightly wonkier to play in the deck? But yeah alubert could easily become the next best normal summon for decks that don't special from the extra anything besides fusions

Normal summon Aleister :) Also yeah the deck bricks, if it's filled with staples instead of starters. Also Prosperity is an overrated card, especially in a deck where 15 Extra Deck slots are already too tight.
MBT always banishes 6 for no reason other than being extremely greedy. Banishing 3 is fine to find one of your 15 one-card starters (3 each of meltdown, aleister, nadir, ecclesia, fusion destiny + terraforming) and then you haven't lost almost half of your extra deck in the process.
@@EpicKingofFail This feels redundant but what I'm saying is that Prosperity is a dogshit card, especially in a deck where 15 Extra Deck slots are already too tight.
@@EpicKingofFail your answers should've been in the Extra Deck, had you not banished them with Prosperity. Invoked Dogmatika has always been a PROACTIVE strategy, not reactive.
