Being in the U.S. Coast Guard and being stationed on a cutter, if the seas are rocking and rolling or your prone to motion sickness it is best to get a cabin in the lower deck, the higher you are the more swaying you will feel. The next is to get a midship or more in the "middle" of the ship; the more closer you are to the bow or the stern the more you will feel the waves as well going up and down. So remember lower and center is best. So I wish you fellow cruisers fair winds and following seas.
Balconies ALWAYS facing the sea. I'm on a ship and enjoy seeing the sea, not looking at people chatting. We love looking over the railing looking at the blue waters.
On our last cruise we had a guaranteed cabin and we ended up in the first cabin forward on the fourth floor of the Nieuw Statendam. It was the worst cabin we have ever been in after 30+ cruises. The heavy steel door which led to the Officer’s Bar was right outside our door and as staff came and went to the bar, the door slammed behind them. The staff also were talking very loudly as they passed by, obviously having had a good time. We heard that door slam on average once every five minutes until 2:00 am. At which point I went down to guest services. I was told nothing could be done about it that night but to come back in the morning. Thankfully the next morning at 7:30 am we were changed to a beautiful, mid ship, quiet cabin. I will never purchase a guarantee cabin again…not worth it.
I had just a regular crew door that slammed. I asked guest relations if they could adjust the door as even the crew that tried to keep it from slamming couldn’t stop that last umph to close -- they managed to do it.
I did a last minute balcony, unassigned until arrival. As a solo and a balcony hey $650 for a 5 day balcony it was worth the risk. Attendant told me bording it was a partially obstructed view. Trying to take pictures and videos looking forward sure was. Looking aft was peachy! I met and hung out with two women a few doors down from me. Their cabin was $2700 booked a year in advance and two passengers. I booked 3 days before departure and all they could do was assure the cabin type. Free at Sea, 4 specialty dining, $100 to shore excursions at every port, it rocked. So what was the horrible obstructed view? Bulkhead support between my cabin and the one forward of me. I was expecting a lifeboat blocking my view. Lol
We once had an "obstructed view" balcony on RC. The lifeboats were on the deck below us, which was the obstruction, but it only blocked the view if you looked straight down. We had a perfect view, straight ahead, of the ocean.
We had the same experience. There were no side by side regular balconies available when we booked. But, traveling as a family, we needed two cabins side by side. We took a chance on obstructed view balconies. The vacation was amazing.
I have mostly sailed on interior cabins, following Gary Bembridge's advice of having other cabins surrounding you so that you are mostly shielded from noise. Nothing to complain about them.
As a person in a wheelchair, I do not get a lot of options on cabin location. I was on the Celebrity Beyond this past March. I didn’t hate the infinite veranda as much as I could, but I didn’t love it either. Even with the window all the way open, since I was seated, I did not get the feeling of being outdoors. Also, my view was the window frame.
My wife and I actually like the Edge class infinite veranda cabins but I agree with you that I’d prefer the bed closer to the door and the siting area closer to the veranda.
This past April we went to the ABC Islands. We were on Celebrity Beyond, and I loved the Infinity Veranda. For the 8 days we rarely opened the window, we just sat relaxing and enjoyed the view. It was totally private, unlike traditional balconies where you can hear the people next door……OR THEIR LOUD MUSIC. Some complain they are noisy but we didn’t think it was noisy.
Same thing happened to me in an obstructed view cabin...Crew were working on the lifeboat, walking back and forth past our window every sea day. The only bonus was, on a port day they lowered the boat to work on it and we had a great view :)
Solo traveler cabin...dont. I booked one to see what it was like. Shame on me, i didnt realize the "Solo passenger bar and dancing" was 20ft away. Kicked off about 9 went to 2am. I went to customer service the following morning and demand to move. The upgrade cost me $100 but it was a Jr Suite in Haven. Wow...that is unheard of luxury for a person like me. What, no one to feed me grapes and fan me? Those cabins $4000 on up double occupancy.
A balcony on VV is the only way to go for me. I'm an early riser, and my husband sleeps in. Every morning, I ordered breakfast, sat in the hammock, and enjoyed quiet moments at sea. We also sat on the balcony late evenings, and there's nothing better than the sound of the waves. We just talked for hours. I even took naps in that hammock! Lol Looking forward to a repeat.
Oh, I’m dying to try those Infinite Verandah cabins. As someone who cruises on the inside of the ship, I reckon I’d probably love the room for the simple fact there’s a view, but the window opening would make my cruise feel SO much more premium than I’m used to!
@@DEREKRCROCKETT I will be sailing on the Edge from Honolulu to Sydney in October. I chose an infinite veranda cabin. I’m really looking forward to it!
One time we booked a balcony cabin overlooking “Central Park” on (I think Anthem) and we loved it for the first 2-3 days. Kinda reminded us of home… and then it SUCKED! “Birds” chirping in the mornings, loud parties hosted down there, etc. Never again!
We had a double whammy on NCL once. A window cabin that looked directly onto a lifeboat where the lights were on all night long, and just outside the door was the kitchen for the 24 hr restaurant and we constantly heard carts rolling by. We used to laugh saying we just had to open the door and reach out and get a late night sandwich.
I'm on a limited budget, so I can manage in any cabin. However, I always make sure what is above and below. I try to be well away from the laundry, a reasonable distance to the elevator, and midship. That usually works for me. Thanks for your tips.
Absolutely loved, loved, loved infinite veranda on Celebrity Beyond. We were on a European cruise. We were able to keep the window open all night and watch the waves and moon on the water. It was very private and made the room very spacious even though it was configured with the bed close to the veranda.
You're heading to my favorite place! Our first cruise was to Alaska on Celebrity Millennium in 2010. Loved it so much went back there four more times over the years - with our grandsons, our daughter, and my sister, all on Celebrity ships. I always bring a turtleneck for glacier day, in addition to a fleece zip-up, a rain jacket with hood, and a pair of stretchy 'texting' gloves (so I can take pictures with my gloves on). Happy sailing!!😊🛳🌊🌊
You're right, always makes sense with ocean view cabin to always have the bed on the other side of the room, not where you want to enjoy the sea scenery. Kind of defeats the purpose of enjoying the view if the bed is right there.
Obstructed view cabins can be an incredible bargain on a cruise ship. I have found some that actually cheaper than an inside cabin (depending on the cruise).
We sailed on the Celebrity Beyond recently and loved our infinite veranda room. Our bed was away from the veranda, and it was definitely more spacious when configured that way. We liked sitting there while having our coffee in the morning, because there is no veranda rail to impede the view of the sea ❤
Our worse cabin was on the first cruise we took many years ago. They were on a bunk bed next to the engine room, so noisy. It took us a few years after that to go back to cruising. We learned to check where the cabin is located before final booking 😂.
We had an inside cabin with an adjoining cabin. It didn't have a small couch or loveseat, only a chair. The neighbors had noisy small children. Periodically one of the children would play with the adjoining door latch. It was a relief when the noisy family left after about three days.
My worst cabin experience was with an adjoining room, and a noisy neighbor. I did catch them in the hall and mentioned the issue, and they did take care of it. I had a forward room on my Antartcia cruise. The motion was a little noticeable as was the noise as the ship hit larger waves but nothing bad.
Never really had a “bad” cabin, but I did have a cabin below the lido deck smoking section. So as a former smoker, I was “ enjoying “ the second hand smoke”. It didn’t make me start smoking, but it did entice me a bit. Just like going to the casino. 😅
When I first started cruising, I wanted the cheapest rooms & I never had a problem with any cabin, because any day on a cruise is great. That is until until someone took me on a cruise with a balcony & I’ll never have an inside cabin again. There’s nothing like walking out on the balcony first thing in the morning & the last thing at night. Eating a danish & drinking a cup of coffee on the balcony while you’re waking up enough to get dressed to go eat breakfast is the absolute best & it’s worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY!!😀
I so agree with you, especially with itineraries like Alaska, Scandinavia, or the fjords. No sense freezing on deck at places like the glaciers when you can be on your balcony and just step into your cabin for a minute to warm up. 😊🧥🧣🧤 edit for typo
Team inside cabins here! We try to pick cabins on the Lido level or higher and usually forward and nestled between cabins above below and both sides of us.
My friend and I booked ocean view room on VV valiant lady and got upgraded to an obstructed view balcony! One morning we had the pleasure of observing a lifeboat drill up close!! We loved it!! In all seriousness I really did enjoy having a private outdoor space even if the view wasn’t perfect!!
I totally agree with you...we booked a connecting cabin on Anthem of the Seas. We will never do that again. We could totally hear the family on the other side of the door the entire cruise. Plus we felt like we needed to whisper in our stateroom. Love your content!
Ilana, I’m sooo proud of you! I’ve been watching you since nearly day one when you had very few followers and today I see you have 316k!! Good job, my friend! You’ve come a long way!❤❤❤🎉
We had the most forward outside cabin on an older Carnival ship on deck 2, port side. The anchor chain was right in front of this cabin. It was definitely loud when it was deployed in Grand Cayman! Had a lovely porthole though. We laughed and enjoyed our cruise anyway.
Enjoy your videos,we always cruise with balcony cabins.April 14th this year we did the first transatlantic on Celebrity Ascent to Portugal and Spain and had the infinity balcony stateroom 11238 and really liked it.Ascent was great and crossing was smooth and as usual Celebrity was great.
The only time I had any issue with a cabin was on The Elation, which is a smaller ship. We were near the front of the ship, in January, and it was fairly rocky. I was still recovering from eye surgery, so that probably had a lot to do with it, but I definitely had to keep up on the Dramamine. Still, I didn’t actually get sick, and we had an awesome time.
Balcony cabins are superior!! 🤣. Thanks for sharing. I booked an inside cabin on my first cruise but I had a view of the promenade. It was ok but the music wouldn’t stop playing. It woke me a few times. Since that cruise, I’ve booked balcony rooms or panoramic view rooms.
The worst cabin: inside. I lost track of time and sleep all day!!😂😂😂 Seriously, I go solo, and the only requests are 1. Close to elevators if the ship is big 2. Twin beds. I travel off the suitcases (just plain lazy) . Great video as usual.
I have chosen inside balconies 3 times and loved all 3. My favorite was the Boardwalk area balcony. Yes, it was a bit more noisy than Central Park but much better for people watching. In fact the noise generally dies down around 11pm when the Aqua Show ends.
I have never had a bad cabin. I am booked in a solo ocean view on Norwegian Pearl transatlantic in November. The cabin is the second or third from right forward. It may turn out to be a little rough but I don’t get sea sick.
I had a neighborhood balcony on Allure of the Seas in the Central Park neighborhood and while not as great as an ocean facing balcony, I really enjoyed it at night. Central Park was light up with beautiful string lights and I was able to enjoy the music and ocean breeze from my balcony. And it definitely wasn’t as loud as the Boardwalk balconies.
We had an ocean view balcony on Allure last winter, but loved being in Central Park. It's an option I might consider in the future (but not a Boardwalk balcony - I'm way too old for that)! (edited for typo)
Went on Oceania REGATTA once and spoke to a couple who had booked the most expensive cabin in the aft. They had a nice wake view and a big balcony, but complained of the engine room noise being incessant and loud. I have always been happy with our midship PH3 or PH2 suites on Oceania.
We did a guaranteed room on RC Independence and it was at the very back of the ship, with obstructed view. The bad: we were not going to look out and see the water down below, we were in the "cage", and I also think people could drop stuff onto our balcony (if you can call it a balcony). The good: the balcony (outdoor space? Patio??) was HUGE, and we did get to see the wake of the ship from it. Our son was 9 at the time and thought it was the coolest, weirdest room. It was a short, fun trip, and out of our usual DCL comfort zone. I also know that I don't get seasick because it was a wild ride back there but it rocked me to sleep.
We had a large wraparound veranda on the aft end of the Westerdam. It was fantastic, we spent half of our time on it. Would book that same stateroom in a heartbeat.
In colder climates I like the Infinity balcony where you can get fresh air but wouldn’t use a regular balcony all that much. In warmer climates I prefer a regular balcony where we sit outside a lot and don’t have to heat the cabin.
One more thing we had a forward facing balcony on liberty and it had the rounded glass on the balcony and actually it made that slightly larger so we were very happy with that! The worst is always when you’re not sandwiched by state rooms. There’s always going to be noise.!!
We booked room 12329 on oasis, which is the last interior balcony room, at the rear of the ship, overlooking boardwalk. We liked it because we had a good view of the ocean and were able to watch the aqua theater shows from our room. The only drawback for us was the long hike getting to the elevators.
Last year I was on ships on three different cruise lines (Saga, Oceania and Viking). On the first two I was given cabins with connecting doors and was very anxious about the potential for noise. Happily, it was never a problem in more than 5 weeks onboard. In fact, on the Saga ship, I initially thought there was no one in the cabin next door.
You mentioned liking aft cabins. I couldn't agree more. If you go with MSC Seascape or Seashore, the definitely go with the aft. The wraparound balcony and layout of everything are simply amazing. They're also right next to the aft facing, glass-walled, elevators - which are amazingly the least used and fastest ones on the ship. That said, next year we're booked on a forward cabin on Seashore. It's the same layout as aft with wraparound balcony with a front and side view. I hope it's not like a rollercoaster ride while we're sleeping. I'm not one who gets seasick, but I don't want there to be a first time.
We have twice booked interior rooms that were at the end of a row. One we were told was at a bend in the waste lines so when there were clogs they had to open the wall outside our room releasing sewer odor right next to our door. The other we were under the galley for the buffet and the last 2 days of the cruise the odor from the grease trap was getting into the room.
We never book a cabin unless I visit cruise deck plans website and see a picture or video of it. We are currently hooked on aft cabins and haven’t had a bad one yet. But the first balcony cabin we ever booked was in the front of the ship and it was cool because we could see the the bridge and once in awhile could watch them walking around and we still had a great view. 😊
We ALWAYS pick our own room. But last cruise my friend did an upgrade to a mini suite, very nice room. But it was a connecting room. Luckily they weren't too noisy!
I was in the front of the ship loved it, I would book it again!! One thing that was annoying was when the ship was docking you could hear and feel the vibrations of the anchor
I never regret an inside cabin. Price is right. View is always the same. Getting another category is always an upgrade and it's happened to me many times. We eat the same food!
@@LifeWellCruised I would tend to agree with joe until I got sick on a recent cruise and was told I had to quarantine in my cabin. Talk about claustrophobia~
My husband and I just returned from an eight night cruise on Celebrity Beyond. We have always been lucky to get a cabin with the bed farthest away from the veranda and have always loved it. I can see where one may not be as happy with the bed closer to it. At the end of the day o suppose it depends on how much time you spend in you cabin instead of exploring the ship and the amazing things it offers! ☺️
My last cruise for my husband and I was a guaranteed inside cabin just like the photo on the left side of your video except the beds were pushed together. The Pullman beds made for a very tight squeeze to get in on the side of the bed. We basically shimmied up from the end of the bed so we wouldn’t bump into them. I don’t know why I thought they would be more flush to the wall. The room felt so much smaller because of that lost space. Never again!
Best Cabin I’ve had was an Aft Excel suite, absolutely amazing😊! Worst Cabin was just last week, I had a balcony cabin directly under the lido deck. What a huge mistake! 😅
I agree about the outside cabin on the Summit. Its much nicer when the sitting area is at the window. We have also had an aft balcony on the Summit over the Sunset bar. I actually liked that cabim because we had the drink package so we could go down the stairs by the cabin and get a cocktail and come back up. They also had live music in the afternoon. So we would get a cocktail and sit on our balcony and listen to the music.
I love your videos. My fiancé and I went to Bermuda. I absolutely fell in love with that beautiful place. The people the culture can’t say enough about it. I watched a couple of your back-to-back cruise videos. Need to do a video on how to talk to fiancé on board with it.🤣😂🤣😂. I’m 64 and she’s 63, And when I took her on our first cruise three years ago, I was so grateful she liked it… We’ve done seven. Thanks for everything and I’m gonna look for any Bermuda videos you have.🇺🇸👮♀️👍
Thanks for the info on cabin arrangement. I always like to have the couch next to the balcony. It just fits much better for us. We cruise mostly on Celebrity or Royal. Your tip about the "wide" area of the cabin on the deck plan works for Celebrity. Royal has only rectangles for the cabins on their deck plans, so no help there.
Thanks for all ypur tips ,we just got off our first cruise, Carnival Sunrise. Your videos really got us ready. The ship itself wasn't very impressive. We were on deck 1, the very back of the ship. A lot of movement we could also hear the engine !
I would refuse or try to change any connecting cabin or hotel room unless family is in the connecting room. We had a horror show in a hotel when the party started next door after 10 pm!!! We tried to sleep but the bed was on that wall as well. In the middle of the night, 2 am-ish, someone tried to come through the door, it even sounded like they were trying to break the lock!!! We called the desk and started talking really loudly next to that door that we were calling the police. Gradually the noise next door quieted down. When we checked out in the morning the desk clerk/ manager said when a staffer went to the room that night the tenants said WE were to blame!!!! Never again.
My wife and son(8) and I are going on our first cruise, so we took the guarantee room to save money so we can spend it on the islands. I only know we are on the second level. We figured we would spend most of the time on the islands and touring the ship and pools so I’m not too worried about the room. Honestly I’m more worried about my wife bringing the kitchen sink. Thanks for all the tips.
This was a live and learn experience, but once on a chartered music cruise (HAL) our cabin was right below the piano bar. The music started around 11 pm, and didn't stop until 6AM! Needless to say, we didn't sleep much on that cruise!
No worries❤everyone’s different. Even the best cabins can have issues. Reach out to steward to resolve any problems. I have enjoyed all types of cabins; of course I love a large balcony on the Crown Princess Caribe Deck🎉
We aren't prone to seasickness or noise but found out that staying in the cabin all the way aft in a fairly lower level, you can hear the engine noise and feel the vibration all night long which is something you need to consider. I thought I am going to avoid aft from now on (or at least it needs to be in the higher decks).
I've never been a fan of cruises for countless reasons. After watching your video on the Panama Canal cruise you recently went on, I'm actually removing cruises from my "Never will I ever." I actually watched 4 more of your videos, back to back!!! 😂😂😂
Our last 3 cruises have been balcony state rooms and I'd like to think that we won't book anything else. Our first one on RCL was a repositioning trans Atlantic cruise so it was basically the price of a porthole cabin. But I MIGHT under the right circumstances book an unobstructed port hole cabin (the first one had a lifeboat in front of the window) or even an inner cabin (had the best nights sleep in one). Probably won't sail Celebrity nor RCL so I probably won't have to worry about the IV.
On Wonder of the Seas our family had 3 cabins. Balcony on the water, below pool deck seating area - great! - Balcony on Central Park, deck 15 below kids play area. Noisy all afternoon with music, quiet at night, so no naps. - Balcony on the sea just below the Mason Jar. On (3) nights they had music until 1am, then clean up of the floors after. So much noise we couldn't sleep! Avoid being below the Mason Jar. Also for this 3rd room, the smoking area was up the stairs and our room aligned with the stairs (midship). Each time we entered the hall we smelled smoke. We are not smokers.
There's almost always a room next door unless you have an end room, then what are you going to hear, people walking by or on stairs? The fact there are connecting rooms is less desirable than a window that is blocked & a bunk above your bed is crazy! There are connecting doors making them connecting rooms all the time in hotels, it's not a problem. Even if there is no connecting doors, one on each side, you can still hear people in the next room. 🚢
Agree with the connecting rooms. Had a connecting room one time and heard the next room playing music 24/7. Dude literally stayed in his room the entire cruise, for whatever reason, and played music. Not necessarily crazy loud, but noises travel thru those doors very easily.
We love, and use, our balcony so much, that I absolutely hate the idea of the infinite veranda. I guess you can get a regular veranda on Apex class ships, but I think they're pretty far forward, or aft.
@randomuser1539 We also love and use our balcony, and were very fortunate last summer to have a sunset veranda (regular balcony) on the 9th deck on our Apex 'Best of Scandinavia' cruise. Loved everything about that trip. Our favorite MDR was Normandie; ate there almost every night. Great lunches in Eden, too. Had quite a few room service breakfasts on our 'real' balcony. Got some beautiful sunset photos from there, too (but not until after 10:00 pm). Am trying my best to avoid an Infinite balcony.😊⛴️
We had an infinite balcony from Sydney to Vancouver; it seemed fine, but every now and then the window was locked closed, or closed automatically while open. It made me feel trapped. Every time there was a "reason", but I now prefer the old style balconies where I control my outdoor access.
I once booked an interior cabin directly under the pool. I didn't hear a thing. But it was an Alaskan cruise, and the pool is just not as popular on those sailings.
We've done a balcony and a suite on deck 15 forward below the gym on Caribbean Princess. We heard chairs being put out, UT don't sleep that late anyhow. We've also done 2 full aft suites and an aft side mini. I found the vibration and up/down more annoying than the up/down forward. Mostly, we are always in minis center/center near the elevator and love it. I was in an obstruction ov re entry and thought I'd hate it. It was okay.
I love the Oasis class on Royal Caribbean, and we have chosen a Central Park balcony each time. So pretty and peaceful at night. We are on the Oasis in October for our first Transatlantic, and can’t wait. Love your channel 🎉 🛳️ 🇨🇦
Great content! As for the Infinite balcony we have a hold on one right now on deck 9 mid ship port side zero obstruction in a prime Aqua Class on Celebrity Asent we are trying to decide if we want to try it out or a different cabin being on a edge class ( our first sailing on a edge class ship) for October 20th 2025 out of Rome Italy for 11 nights in Europe. We are trying to get a good cabin for rest relaxing and a few amenities we like since it's a 11 night cruise. So we are willing to give the Infinite veranda a try possibly since we have another cruise booked on Ascent for mid March 2026 again for 11 nights to the Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean. We booked a Aqua Sky Suite on deck 10 port side for this and obviously it does come with a true balcony and it will be our first experience with being in a suite and all the amenities it comes with. Thank you again for sharing.
I got a deluxe ocean view room right under the limelight lounge, noise doesn’t bother me and I’m usually out/up u til everything is closed/over lol doesn’t bother me a bit 😊
We had a balcony on our cruise to Alaska. 4th floor, quiet and near the elevator. I want to see if I can get a suite or something a little bigger next time. Love your channel. ❤
Loved our 15 day Panama Canal cruise on Norwegian Bliss in January BUT hated our deck 5 ocean view cabin. It was the first time I worked with a travel advisor and he wasn’t very informative or cautionary. The cabin was really tiny with the bed below the window and no sofa. It was located below the edge of the Q bbq restaurant . I swear the staff was dragging metal tables across the floor until well after midnight or 1 am. Customer service’s solution was to offer ear plugs. We also found we were right above one of the gang plank entries - fortunately that entry was only used a couple of times. Being nearer to the water, we got a lot of wave noise throughout the night. I was much more careful and chose our cabin myself after research for our next cruise. I went back with a balcony in a better location.
Same here, kind of makes me angry when I see all these people who were booked into ADA rooms, didn't need them, and didn't like them. smh We had to book a cruise 3 years in advance to get an ADA room, and there wasn't a choice of location.
Just booked a guaranteed obstructed ocean view cabin because it was just $100 more than an inside cabin. Saw some photos of this kind of cabin on this ship, and the obstructions are mostly lifeboats. Looks like it will have a walking deck right outside. I was mostly wanting a little natural light - inside cabins can be VERY dark. For a view, I'll go outside. But I'm a bit worried about noise.
We had an aft suite that was listed as "obstructed" on the Crown Princess and it turned out to just be a support column about 18 inches wide. The balcony was huge and the column didn't impair our viewing in any way! We booked the same cabin again for another cruise. We booked one forward suite because it was a family suite and we had a lot of family with us. Having a 2nd bathroom was great, but the movement at the front of the ship was extreme! We'll never book a forward cabin again! 🤢
The worst cabin we had was on our very first cruise on NCL. It was in the bow of the ship with bunkbeds and a port hole...I am surprised that we every cruise again...lol. Now we only book ocean view balcony cabins and this July will make our 12th cruise.
I was in an infinate balcony on Celebrity Beyond, I did miss actual balcony. I think they should market them as floor to cieling window cabins with an option for fresh air!. I doubt I would book another one again.
A "bad" cabin on a cruise is still better than being at work!
Best comment ever!! 😊
I appreciate this advice....looking to take my first cruise next year and very prone to motion sickness!
Good advice
Very good advice!
Thanks!
Balconies ALWAYS facing the sea. I'm on a ship and enjoy seeing the sea, not looking at people chatting. We love looking over the railing looking at the blue waters.
You’re right
Agreed!!!
😂😂😂 I can't imagine. I can see that at home. I definitely want to look at the ocean and relax!
No not always on royal central park en boardwalk have also balcony cabins
It's the main reason we cruise. Fresh bugless air, starry nights.
Oh my!! Good thing you asked and they were able to change you
I had just a regular crew door that slammed.
Lol
I need to learn your secrets!!!
We once had an "obstructed view" balcony on RC. The lifeboats were on the deck below us, which was the obstruction, but it only blocked the view if you looked straight down. We had a perfect view, straight ahead, of the ocean.
I'm hopeful that this is my experience. First time cruiser so I wasn't as knowledgeable when choosing the cabin so I didn't realize it was obstructed.
That’s not bad at all
@@auth3ntic118 We've done a few obstructed view balconies and they all turned out fine.
Me too! It was fine.
Good advice
Haha thanks for sharing
Our last cruise we stayed in an Infinite Veranda Cabin (Celebrity Edge). We loved the cabin and feel that its a great concept.
Haha good point
We had a double whammy on NCL once. A window cabin that looked directly onto a lifeboat where the lights were on all night long, and just outside the door was the kitchen for the 24 hr restaurant and we constantly heard carts rolling by. We used to laugh saying we just had to open the door and reach out and get a late night sandwich.
I'm on a limited budget, so I can manage in any cabin. However, I always make sure what is above and below. I try to be well away from the laundry, a reasonable distance to the elevator, and midship. That usually works for me. Thanks for your tips.
Love that!
Absolutely loved, loved, loved infinite veranda on Celebrity Beyond. We were on a European cruise. We were able to keep the window open all night and watch the waves and moon on the water. It was very private and made the room very spacious even though it was configured with the bed close to the veranda.
You’ve become my favorite cruise expert. Hubby and I are going on our first cruise up to Alaska in September
That’s definitely a good reason to book them
I cannot believe someone popped out of the lifeboat. That's wild.
Haha that was a funny one, doing maintenance on a port day
I would wonder if he was a stowaway!
As long as I am on a cruise ship, there is no bad cabin. Now some are better than others, but it's all about individual preferences.
Absolutely
I feel the same - I reserve the right to critique, but I do keep in mind that I'm on a CRUISE either way!! 😆🤩
edit for typo
Team inside cabins here! We try to pick cabins on the Lido level or higher and usually forward and nestled between cabins above below and both sides of us.
Sounds great
Just wanted to let you know that I love your videos! I will probably never go on a cruise, but if I do, I will be well prepared!
Glad you like them & I appreciate you watching. If you do go on a cruise, no doubt you’ll be a pro :)
We loved the infinite veranda on the Celebrity Beyond. The bed was near the window but we had to issues with the arrangement.
You’ve come a long way!❤❤❤🎉
I love your positivity❤
I like the middle of the ship
I always book a cabin near the aft elevators because they are easier to walk to and 2 floors below any deck that has activity.
We loved the IV on the Beyond
I have not been in a Veranda cabin. From seeing all the videos from you and others, I have absolutely no desire to book one.
Veranda cabins are wonderful for Alaska and Northern Europe trips; maybe not as essential for Caribbean cruises.
I really enjoyed your video! I found it very informative! Especially description of infinite balconies , obstructed views and room configurations.
Very good point about those inside promenades
The worst cabin: inside. I lost track of time and sleep all day!!😂😂😂 Seriously, I go solo, and the only requests are 1. Close to elevators if the ship is big 2. Twin beds. I travel off the suitcases (just plain lazy) . Great video as usual.
Inside cabins require sleep with the bow channel on. When the sun comes up its like a window
Room number 9400 carnival panorama is the noisiest cabin directly under the buffet kitchen. Noise 24 hours a day!
Love that attitude
I hear you 😂
Best Cabin I’ve had was an Aft Excel suite, absolutely amazing😊!
Thanks for everything and I’m gonna look for any Bermuda videos you have.🇺🇸👮♀️👍
Great video and insights Ilana. Thank you!
I just get an MSC Yacht Club suite and fuhgeddaboudit! Lol
That sounds amazing 👏👏👏
Ours happened during the first day they thought it was the door to the bath!
We are on Bliss to Alaska next June. Our cabin is 5722, ocean view. Hopefully a good room. It is a connected cabin, but my sister is in that one.
I had 3 interior and it was great. I didn't feel rocking and it was quiet. There was a 4th time but I was upgraded (for free) to an ocean view.
I’m not fond of connecting rooms. Thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
We were on Allure last winter in an ocean view balcony, but loved walking in Central Park at night. Also had a great lunch there one day.
Thank you for the information! Always informative
Thanks for watching & so glad you enjoyed it
Great content!
We require handicapped accessible cabins. As ships don't have many accessible cabins, we take what we can get.
I loved the Infinite veranda on Celebrity Apex... very versatile
