    I've volunteered for this for the past 3 years. I'm finally running it in 2019. I probably have no business running this as my current anticipated finish will be 6 hours and 15 minutes but I'm trying. Of all the videos I've been binge watching for the past year, this was the most human one I've seen and it literally brought me to tears. Thank you for making this Yankee so proud to be living in this city and thank you for highlighting this amazing race.

    • @kisherefilm
      @kisherefilm  6 років тому +1

      Oh wow you volunteered ... you guys are AMAZING and the love and support you give the runners is AWESOME! So pleased you're running it this year... time is irrelevant. The only person you're competing with in a marathon is yourself. My first marathon in London fell apart at mile 15 due to an ITB issue, this meant the last 11 miles were slow and painful. What didn't help it was the hottest London Marathon on record. We pushed on through and completed in 6hrs+ and the feeling was still amazing, probably more amazing because we had struggled. To me a marathon is an adventure....an unwritten story if you like! You can put in months of prep but it doesn't design your marathon for you... anything can happen on the day. I don't say this to worry you, I say it so you don't focus too much on time. My mission on my first marathon was simply to complete it in one piece.
      I would love to know how you get on... can you let us know :)
      thank you for watching my video and for saying that you felt it was the most human video. I aimed too give an honest account of our experience.
      I did make a video about the London marathon... it is on my channel

Very well done indeed. You two brought honor and class to the event. Bravo!!! I hope you get to run another one some time soon, like in a few weeks time. I can't wait for it. Cheers and stay strong to all!!!

    I’m also a T1D and I ran the NYC marathon for the first time this past year! I ran for the Chicago Diabetes project and went in with no real expectations but ended up running a 3:59 marathon. It was such an amazing experience and hopefully I’ll be able to do it again in 2020! Loved the video, it was a good reminder of everything!

You ran with a diabetes project based in Chicago?... I just ran my first Chicago marathon back in October (vid on my channel), we loved CHI-town!
      We will be back in NYC in March to run the United Half. I won’t be chasing a PB though as I want to take in the city :) Maybe I will bump into you at a marathon some day.

      Hi Jeff, I still get a lump in my throat too when Kat crosses the finish line. Like most of us I know Kat suffered with massive self doubt prior to running the marathon. I was so proud of her when she achieved it. We are both running Chicago in 4 weeks and cannot wait. Thank you for watching my little film and for your kind words. I too remember checking out many UA-cam videos prior to running NYC, that’s why I made this one and tried to paint an honest picture. Such an amazing event!!

    Great video! I ran the 2018 NYC Marathon as well. I finished at 5:48:43. I also did the Chicago Marathon a month prior and finished at 5:34:17. I developed painful blisters around mile 14nin NY. Thankfully I found a jar of Vaseline in one of the porta-potties. It was worth finishing. NYC have the best crowd support. Definitely do it again!

      Roberto Mandje Cheers man ... I always find it hard to explain the Marathon experience to people who have never participated in one. I wanted to paint the best picture I could for those people and to provide an insight into the NYC marathon itself. Filmmaking & UA-cam for me is currently a hobby alongside my day job with the police. I hope to move into filmmaking on a more professional level soon. I like the idea of combining my two passions running & filmmaking . I now plan to run all six world majors with the aim to inspire other type one diabetics to run.

      Thank you for saying that... I try to represent a real and honest account with all of my films. In a day where we all check social media every 5 minutes I think it is important to have real stories and influences. Every person who crosses a marathon finish line deserves the same feeling of accomplishment. Making comparisons with super quick marathon runners can often be detrimental to that feeling. Thank you so much for your kind words... It really makes my day knowing that people are enjoying this video. It really was an awesome experience and it is great to share it with others who have experienced the NYC marathon too!
      Are you running it again this year?

      Scott , boy! Do I wish haha! I didn’t get so lucky this year but I will be there cheering for my friends who will be running the marathon. I am considering registering for the Abbott Dash to Finish Line 5K. If you or your wife are running please make another video. 🤗🥇🗽

    I'm doing my first half marathon in September...and I'm terrified. I'm 94kgs and have a disease that is attemtping to fuse my spine, hips and pelvis together...but I'm going to do it if it kills me. I've gotta finish it in under 4hrs...which seems like alot...but I know after the first 10kms my pace is going to at least half from the pain. Still...I'm determined!

    Thank you Scott. Brings back such happy memories of my NYC in 2017. What makes you want to do the 6 majors?

    • @kisherefilm
      @kisherefilm  6 років тому

      Pleased you enjoyed it :) I want to run all six to raise awareness of type one diabetes. I was diagnosed at age 11, this was back in the early 90’s . At the the time of diagnosis the nurse told me I couldn’t do any endurance sport in amongst a long list of can’t do’s.
      Nice now at age 36 to smash that list of cant do’s
      Are you running anymore marathons at the mo?

    • @PoetWithPace

      Great story! I have Boston coming up in April which will be my next A race marathon having already done 4 of the majors by time qualifying and hoping to go sub 2:55 for first time, so i can qualify for Berlin for my age category coming up to 60. There is no word as can't. Can do, will do!

    AMAZING vid mate! WOW! This is THE BEST film of 2018 TCS NYC Marathon I watched (and I watched a lot of them). I was there too, and I revived everything again. Congratulations! Great race, great recording, great songs, great edition! I also made a video of this race too. If you want, search for "The best of TCS NYC Marathon 2018". Congrats again and best regards from Brazil (Fabio)

      Absolutely, if you get to preoccupied with time you lose the spirt of running a marathon. Unless you’re an athlete on the front row you are only competing with yourself... that’s why I love running so much :) thank you for checking out my film 🎥

    hye. I'm Malaysian. Just to know. Are you supposed return back to Starting Line to collect your baggage? If you want collect your clothes in baggage.

    • @kisherefilm
      @kisherefilm  5 років тому +1

      You drop your baggage of at a drop off point at the start of the race. Then your bag is loaded onto a UPS truck and taken to the Central Park finish line.
      Hope this helps :)
