“This is the prototype Nova bomb: nine fusion warheads encased in lithium triteride armor. I love how Babylon 5 and Andromeda made it into the list. These are two Sci-Fi series that never got the attention they deserved. They are not as well executed as other universes say Star Trek but they are definitely good in their own right. Way to go GF for including them in this list!
well I don't know about B5 but Andromeda was great loved that show, although an honest way to describe it would be enjoyable bad as it wasn't a good show but was really fun to watch.
@@shadowphoenix1696 I know what your talking about. The 3rd and 4th seasons were my favorite. Poor B5 had a terrible first season but if you stuck with it, the show paid off in a big way by mid season 4.
@@benikenbenniken760 most high quality Sci-fi shows take about two seasons to hit their stride. The fact that B5 did it in only one is an amazing testament to the quality of the acting and directing. Especially considering the budget constraints it suffered under!
@@joshuahogan3475 Absolutely! B5 from its 2nd season onward is phenomenal! Star Trek: Next Generation, for example, took several seasons to get its footing, but B5's first season, in my opinion, is one of the worst first seasons of a Sci-fi show I have seen. It was too campy, corny, awkward, and an extreme amount of exposition dump that bogged everything down. The visuals, props, and prosthetics were abysmal. The actors/actresses were also still figuring out their characters (which is normal and fine) and I instantly enjoyed certain characters like Lando, Vir, Lennier, and Garibaldi. Though I was very glad when Sinclair was replaced, and that Delenn and G'kar character types shifted in the seasons after.
All of this to say, that B5's first season was horrendous but what the writers, cast, and crew did with it is astounding! To date, B5 is my absolute favorite sci-fi show when it comes to story, world building, and closure.
I am very glad to be able to share my love for B5 with all you. :)
Thank you for including Stargate SG-1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew the Halo Array was gonna be on this list.
Also, thank you for pointing out the terrifying applications of the Genesis Device; truly a weapon to surpass Metal Gear.
The genesis device is what you get when the federation ACCIDENTALLY makes a superweapon...I could only imagine what would happen if they actually tried given they power everything using f**king antimatter...
Most people oh god the halo rings.
Warhammer 40k fans.
So you just give Orks free planets?
Ahh, superweapons. Where would fiction be without them? (Props for the Dakara Superweapon, too - always nice to see Stargate get a mention!) Here's another handful to add to the pile...
*Xenomorphs,* _Alien_ _universe:_ One common theory behind the origin of the Xenomorphs is that they were designed as self-propagating scorched-earth bioweapons. Seed a planet with a cargo ship full of eggs, and within a few years, it's as good as depopulated - or requires so much investment by the defenders to clear out that they'll be focused on that instead of fighting the Pilots/Engineers/Space Jockeys that dropped the eggs in the first place. Alternately, one short story suggested that they might have also been used _defensively:_ rather than infecting and ruining enemy civilizations, they might have been seeded to form a perimeter of dead worlds around their master's last-stand planets. Creepy.
*Celestial* *Orrery,* _Necron_ _Empire,_ _40K:_ A relic of the War In Heaven between deathless robots and reptilian overlords in the time when dinosaurs still ruled the Earth, this stunningly detailed model of the Milky Way galaxy recreates every single star in miniature, and tracks their conditions and movements in real time. As magnificent a work of art as it is, and as useful in navigation as it might be, its military value is impressive as well: one of its functions is to cause stars to go into a supernova state, practically with the push of a button. No need to send warships like the Andromedan nova bombs; the Celestial Orrery works completely remotely. It has some drawbacks, in that blowing up stars this way is messy and ruins a lot of real estate for light-years in all directions, but if you're looking for area-denial weapons, this one is pretty impressive.
*Molecular* *Disruption* *Device,* _Ender's_ _Game:_ A remarkably powerful little gizmo, this weapon touches off a small energy field that breaks the electron bonds that hold molecules together for everything within its blast radius. That's pretty impressive on its own, but what makes this weapon really powerful is its secondary effect: each molecule that gets broken this way sets up its own energy field that does the same thing. This field weakens as it spreads out, but strengthens when it encounters another molecule to break, causing a chain reaction that will spread to everything nearby. It will one-shot a starship if it hits the hull anywhere, regardless of armor hardness or material: if it's made of _matter,_ the MD Device will eat it. This gets terrifying when you start dropping these things on planets: if even one gets through to the atmosphere, then the chain reaction means the entire planet is doomed.
*Project* *Pluto,* _real_ _life:_ Yes, really. This doomsday weapon was an unmanned nuclear-powered bomber, designed as a revenge weapon in case of a successful Soviet first strike. It used a fission-powered ramjet engine to fly at supersonic speeds along a pre-programmed route, dropping its payload of atom bombs on designated target cities along the way, and was designed to fly racetrack patterns over the Russian heartland at extreme low altitude until it either crashed, or its nuclear fuel decayed to the point where it couldn't sustain the ramjet anymore. Potentially, that could take *years,* with this thing zipping around laying waste through radiation and sonic booms in giant ovals of flattened, glowing screw-you the whole time. They actually tested the engine back in the early 1960's, though the Pentagon decided to call off the project shortly afterward. (My theory is they'd hired a supervillain to head up the design team, but he retired in the late '50s when NASA didn't go for his orbital-bombardment side project.) It's not as world-ending as the other superweapons on this list, but it gets a mention because _IT_ _WAS_ _A_ _REAL_ _THING._
And the Xenomorphs have also inspired other such species that are either dedicated biological weapon creatures or who possess such a function as a side effect of their nature or other agenda. An obvious example would be the Tyranids from 40K, who destroy biomes as they feed and consume all biological matter on planets, and can even burrow into a planet's magma mantle to extract biologically active minerals from bedrock and lava, which can cause so much disruption to a planet's structure that it breaks apart. Planet killing is more the side effect than the intent here, but the result is the same and the Swarm feeds on the scale of entire galaxies, which I think should allow them to qualify, unclean Xenos scum that they are.
The Zerg are a similar case, though on a smaller scale.
nice list, here's some more:
*Y22A-1 Temblor Bomb* , _Wing Commander_ : The Y22A-1 Temblor Bomb was designed as a high tectonic-frequency weapon with a 267.5 megaton yield. Its projected aim was to destroy planets by means of triggering earthquakes. It was designed so that if delivered with absolute precision to an active fault line, the resulting sonic waves would be powerful enough to destabilize the tectonic make-up of the planet's surface. The resulting earthquake would spread across the planet and rip the planet apart as its surface was ravaged by the extreme seismic activity. The Temblor Bomb could be deployed on virtually any planet, but it was most effective on worlds with an unusually high level of tectonic instability. It could be fired like a torpedo from heavy fighters whose payload allowed for such valuable cargo.
*TCS Behemoth* , _Wing Commander_ : The Behemoth took the form of a super dreadnought, and by the time of its completion was one of the largest vessels in the Confederation's arsenal. The vessel was designed as a large series of superconducting energy amplification conduits, focusing 500,000,000 gigawatts against a single point of impact on any target. The target at the end of that point, be it a warship, space station, or even a planet, would be utterly destroyed.
*Tiberium* , _Command and Conquer_ : Silicon based life form that 'eats' a planet and reproduces itself, slowly turning a planet into tiberium. Tiberium is a valuable tool for mining which makes extraction of resources easy and has many beneficial properties as well. The substance is a silicon based life form similar to fungus, and can be gathered and processed into usable material. It is so useful that only this substance is needed to produce anything, as it has essentially all the resources of the planet within itself in an easily extracted material.
Star Wars galaxy also has more doomsday devices than showed:
- Sun Crusher, called also "doomsday Mary Sue" - light freighter sized, nearly indestructible (to get rid off that, they had to toss into a black hole) ship, capable to cause and survive effects of supernova. Responsible for destroying Carida system
- Tarkin station - essentially lightweight DS-1, blew up world of Aeten II in order to quickly harvest all stygium crystals
- Centerpoint station - ancient (created about 35k-40k BBY) giant space station in Corelian system, capable of reshaping or destroying entire systems (it created Corelian system, as well as Maw - cluster of black holes near Kessel). Before 18 ABY station was dormant, allowing for colonisation. During the events of Corelian insurrection station was accidentally activated, what caused destruction of settlements inside. Station was destroyed during Second Galactic Civil War, allowing Abeloth to leave her (?) prison
- Mass shadow generator - possibly one of first attempts to use FTL interdiction technology. Created by the Old Republic during Mandalorian wars, it destroyed Mandalorian and Republic fleets. Moreover, it effectively destroyed place of its deployment, Malachor V
- Alpha Red virus - biological weapon, created to kill Yuuzhan Vong and their creations. Used only once - while it was sucessful in killing Vongs, they tried to use it against Zonama Sekot. After signing peace with YV, all data and samples were destroyed to prevent Bothans from using Alpha Red in their holy war
- Darksaber - even more lightweight DS-1. This superweapon was just main weapon of DS-1, reactor, basic engines to move around and hyperdrive. Created for one of the Hutts by designer of both DS. It failed to even fire once due to low quality of components and labour
- Galaxy Gun - the sniper among imperial doomsday weapons - it can destroy distant target with hyperspace-capable projectiles while staying in Byss system. Rammed by (reborn) Palpatine falgship Eclipse caused destruction of Byss and his final death
- While not strictly doomsday device, Eclipse-class dreadnought and Sovereign-class were capable of rendering planets uninhabitable with their spinal weaponry (and if that's impossible, they can still perform Base Delta Zero order)
@@Jfk2Mr You have got to love the Mass Shadow Generator - such an awesome name for a doomsday weapon.
@@Jfk2Mr yeah they are the big ones, but i remember seeing a list with a brief description one time of all the doomsday weapons in SW and it was about 10-15 items long. of course Star Trek not to be out done had a list slightly longer. some of them were just copies of each other and altered to fit their universes.
#3 The *best* doomsday weapon in Star Trek was the Genesis device? Okay it had the advantage that you got a fresh planet out of the bargain.
Let's see…
Kremin timeship. Removes your entire species from having _ever existed._ (could use that against Skaro and no Daleks…)
Species 8472 planet destroying single seat ships that cross the beams and kill a Borg planet.
A bunch of supernova causing trilithium based compact warheads, from Soran's in Star Trek Generations to the Dominion one that a changeling jury rigged in a roundabout in DS9.
Q Continuum flintlock rifles that cause novas in normal reality.
Heck, biogenic weapons from any old ship could wipe out all life on a planet (Klingons - TNG The Chase).
Red Matter from the reboot, otherwise known as "J.J. didn't do as much damage as he did to Star Wars".
And from The Original Series there was the _Planet Killer,_ see if you can guess what it does? Free upvote to the first correct answer.
@casbott "It destroys planets, chops them into rubble". "Then it digests the debris for fuel".
I hate when people think they know things but dont research the info first and check like seriously
You have created the list I wanted to create and for this I thank you. Let us not the Multi Kinetic Neutronic mine the 7 wanted to use against 8472. It would devastate a solar system and spread Borg nano probes over 5 light years.
Planet killer best example of last resort weapon. In the original canon it destroyed not only the enemy but the ones that used it as well
To save you and some salty Whovians time, google Daleks and the "Time War". Daleks are no where near that strong now and they can no longer build the reality bomb because fixed point in time logic. However, they probably wouldn't get blindsided by a time travel event to the past and prevent from existence cliche as several of their 'everyday' enemies have basic time travel (Sontarans, Cybermen, The Doctor, etc). It's very circumstantial and honestly a toss up if the Kremin timeship would be successful like the Borg's attempt with Earth.

Riastrad5409 agreed
Any inquisitor that does it without a really good reason is going to be punished by the Inquisition. Exterminatus is a last resort only for when nothing else will work. Planets are far too valuable compared to guardsmen.
The Death Star was NOT a last-resort weapon, it was a giant beating-stick that you waved around and said "See this? You step out of line and we're not even going to TRY diplomacy or police actions."
Two you missed: the Doomsday Machine from Star Trek TOS; and the Q bomb from The Mouse That Roared.
The Mouse That Roared? What is that about? Sounds really weird and cool. Honestly curious.
@@seanrosenau2088 Really? Never heard of it? It's a comedy with Peter Sellers. Basically, the smallest country in the world, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, declares war on the US so the US can defeated them and then rebuild their economy. Peter Sellers captures a top secret weapon and brings it back.(it's been a while... that's all I can remember. There was a sequel, The Mouse on the Moon, that is available on UA-cam.
Something that might fit this list would be the "Wormhole Weapon" from Farscape, which was like weaponised exponential growth where each "tick" it doubles in size, it was stopped before it could finish so it wasn't shown how big it could get, but if it never stopped then it could have the potential to destroy the universe or "at least" the galaxy.
I don't know if it counts as a "last resort" type weapon, as I forgot if they ever explain its reason for conception, but it did end up being used to end a war with the idea of "stop or we all die"
its a pity that season 5 got crammed into 3 hour film, but at least we got an ending even if it was a bit rocky but still enjoyable.
Not a planet killer but a galaxy killer.
The Wormhole Weapon was *definitely* a last resort weapon. And a stupidly large-scale one at that.
Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator
Yay for Marvin the Martian the only Martian I ever liked
Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!
What about species 8472 from Star Trek Voyager? They used a WMD to destroy borg planets. And what about the wave motion gun from Space battleship Yamato?
How is that a last resort weapon?
Me as I star loading the video *chanting* "NOVA BOMB NOVA BOMB NOVA BOMB NOVA BOMB" Realizing that they used the wrong nova bomb, and sighing.
Cole Kenney I agree when he said NOVA Bomb I was expecting The UNSCs NOVA bomb. But at least the Halos got on the list.
@@danielstanton8332 UNSCs Nova bomb cracked a planet from a ship in orbit, and destroying that planets moon. I think it beats at least 5 of the super weapons.
@@colekenney2965 but not novas listed
The UNSC Nova Bomb is awesome, but it sucks hard compared to the Andromeda Nova Bomb (which is more like a high speed long range missile but, whatever). Besides, Andromeda is older than Halo, so... no comment.
Yeah but andromedas nova bomb can wipe out whole solar systems and is basically a space nuke.
For an impressive planetary destruction record, none of the super weapons shown have beaten the Doomsday Machine from Star Trek TOS. As a solitary weapon the Doomsday Machine has wiped out the rocky planets of countless entire star systems, whether they're inhabited or not, simply to fuel itself as it travels from star system to star system over thousands of years.
The red legions “almighty” from destiny 2 uses a planetoid to makes near by stars unstable and whips out the entire system
Well I should like to add the Wormhole Weapon from the Farscape series as an honourable mention.
How is the Q-Bomb from Starship Troopers or the Little Doctor from Ender's Game not on this list?
That's what I was thinking when I clicked on the link
When your 10th on the list is the Death, you know why the Q-Bomb and Little Doctor are not on the list.
The MD device isn't a weapon of last resort.its actually a weapon that's quite common in be IF in the book
Generation Films-for ever new subscriber, another Ender Wiggin is born to save Humanity from a hostile alien race by growing up to destroy their planets.
'Another' Ender Wiggin?
*hears the word Stargate*
*immediately presses like*
Indeed.
But it was technically not a weapon it is a tool reprogrammed to act as one
The Stargate itself if used correctly is a super weapon or you could pick anubis superweapon
Culture gridfire. Useing hyperspace tech to open a hole into a diffrent universe composed of nigh infinite energy allowing its controlled release into real space where it can be used to melt planets, ships and stars from lightyears away.
The troubled with picking a planet killer for 40K is that 'Exterminatus' is something of a catch all term. The guys at Generation Films picked single stage Cyclonic Torpedoes (a classic to be sure), but there are also two stage Cyclonic Torpedoes that are designed to penetrate the planet's core and blow the world apart entirely.
Then there is the Life Eater virus that is a planetary scale bioweapon (but is rarely used in the current continuity since it feeds Nurgle's - the Chaos God of Plague's - power).
There is the bloodtide; a self replicating nanite weapon.
The Imperium is loath to use them, but there are also Warp tech planet killers, like planetary scale Vortex weapons, and psychic weapons that fry the minds of all sentient creatures on a planet without the Pariah Gene.
And then of course there is good old fashioned massed orbital bombardment by the Imperial Navy and/or Astartes Strike Cruisers and Battle Barges, ongoing until the planet breaks apart, and this is far from a comprehensive list of Imperial planet killer tech. Species like the forces of Chaos, the Orks, the Tau, and especially the Necrons all have their own versions, and the Tyranids kill worlds on a galactic scale as a side effect of their feeding process.
The Life Eater was usually followed by an atmosphere burner once it reached 90 to 100% propagation anyway.
The Imperium of Humanity believes in recycling after all, so you need a way to cleanse a planet so its usable later.
The Death Star is the Empire’s weapon of first resort.
In the classic "Lensman" SF series by E.E. "Doc" Smith, wars were being fought in his books using entire planets as weapons - "throwing" them at the enemy planets which were otherwise too well shielded to be attacked.
Stargate also accidentally blew up a planet. Well, it was all the plan of the Ori. They wanted humans to try to destroy the gate with a Mark IX naquadah-enhanced nuke, but the blast ended up not only wiping out the planet but creating a black hole.
And let’s not forget Carter causing a nova with a stargate and McKay accidentally destroying 9/10 of a star system. And McKay did blow up the Asuran homeworld.
Jeez you blow up one sun.....
And as for Mackay, it wasn't 9/10ths it was more like 4/5ths
Figured I'd mention some I feel you missed:
*Angel Halo* - Victory Gundam: A massive space station that is designed to scour the surface of the Earth and basically make use of the so called Newtypes to cause all intelligent life on the surface to regress to an infantile state while leaving infrastructure intact. It also carries a secret second weapon called Angel's Call, a set of microbes which would basically mutate humanity into nondescript black mass of matter.
*Moonlight Butterfly* - Turn A Gundam: A weapon used by the Turn A and Turn X which releases a huge amount of nano-machines that would break down all technology caught in it into sand. At it's most powerful, it has a range that would extend all the way out to Jupiter. The one time it was used it basically knocked the human race back to the stone-age.
And since you included the Infinity Gauntlet, I figure I'd include this one as well even though it technically isn't Sci-fi.
*The Throne* - Shinza Bansho Series: A powerful device created in ancient times that would basically allow the user to rewrite the very laws of nature across the multiverse with it's use. While not destructive on it's own as most past users (known as Heavens) used it to recreate everything in their own image, Hajun made clear of the absurd destructive potential it carried. If he had successfully activated it and spread his new law, then all living beings, regardless of their scale and family relation, would spontaneously begin to kill each other. From humans, to animals and even insects. And it would all continue until only Hajun himself would be left.
Always nice to see Stargate on a list, to maybe add some honorable mentions:
The black hole supernova gate technic where you connect a gate to another gate next to a black hole, through the first gate into a sun, reduce it's mass, cause it to pseudo supernova taking the solar system with it.
The alteran device. All versions of project arceturus with especial interest in the McKay Carter bridge connected version since it can easily destroy a reality by releasing massive amounts of particles which do not follow the local laws of nature at all.
I am reminded of the Top 100 Things I'd Do if I ever Become an Evil Overlord" list; "I will develop tactical and strategic weapons covering a full range of needs so my choices are not limited to "hand to hand combat with swords" and "blow up the planet".
It's good to know that list still makes the rounds. Good list it is.
All that newfangled modernist stuff! You tend to overlook the older (and foreign) classics. The German series Raumpatrouille (Space Patrol) made parallel to and independent of Star Trek had the Overkill weapon. In the series itself we see the effect of just the first prototype blowing up a planetoid.
Btw, the series may have been also the first to use a hyperspace collision to get rid of a planet-sized object (turned into a mini-sun) on collision course with Earth (send there by the hostile aliens referred to as Frogs).
The Moment from Doctor Who should be on the list it's a weapon the size of a small box powerful enough to take out a galaxy.
"Time Lords of Gallifray, Daleks of Skarro, I Serve Notice upon you All, for to long I've Stayed my Hand, Today this War will End, No More" The War Doctor R.I.P. Sir John Hurt 😔
Honourable mention should include"The Wormhole Weapon"of Farscape, The Peacekeeper Wars! That's a definite use once only weapon right there!
Why does Farscape always seem to get left out? The wormhole weapon of The Peacekeeper Wars should top the list.
Farscape is awesome and deserves more attention.
The Vorlon planet killer was much more efficient than the Shadow cloud
Agreed and less terrifying.
The planet killer was like more mobile Death Star, boom youre dead.
The cloud was a horrible terror filled attack that made the planet tear itself apart over time as opposed to boom!
The death cloud was, after all, made to slowly kill a planet by disturbing its core, disrupting the magnetic field, causing solar radiation to wash over - scrubbing the surface down, and adding the massive tectonic shocks.... whelp... death cloud was a terror. also usable vs fleets.
I loved Nova bomb from Gene Roddenberry's "Andromeda" (very underestimated series, especially first two seasons written by Michael H. Wolfe) - effectively, it used dark energy to temporarily cancel out gravity / create whitehole to destabilize stars and trigger them into nova/supernova. SImilar technique was improvised in Stargate SG-1 with stargate. This was Exterminatus on solar system scale! Still, more powerful bomb from series was Lexa Doig herself :D
Tribbles from Star Trek TOS,they are effective against Klingons
They will also literally destroy a planet's biosphere.
@@Idazmi7 how?
@@valtersplume3726
Seriously? Tribbles eat literally anything, reproduce so fast that rabbits look slow, AND have few natural predators. Do the math. The Klingons obliterated the Tribble home planet because of the ecological threat. Too bad people had already been selling tribbles elsewhere...
@@Idazmi7 they can eat anything?
Can they eat metals of a spaceship? Can they consume bricks and concrete of buildings?
@@valtersplume3726
Do you know what a "biosphere" is, and how to damage it?
good to see the old classics like babylon 5 still get noticed these days. Thats a show with a rich collection of ship designs and factions. The aliens themselves are generally generic humanoid the shadows and the vorlons oddly enough are entirely alien with either many legs or just balls of energy in the vorlon case
I like the topics of most of the videos of this channel, but I find only the ones from American ben the most interesting.
You should do more videos on this channel dude.
So happy you included the Nova Bomb. I salute you.
I would have loved to see the molecular detachment device from Enders game here
Are you thinking of the movie version or the book version, because the little doctors (a nickname) in the book aren't some special weapon kept in reserve, they're the primary weapon on every ship. So they're hardly a last resort.
Which Sci-Fi faction has the best Starfighters: Galactic Republic(Star Wars), Imperial Navy(40k), Terran Dominion(Starcraft), Systems Alliance(Mass Effect), UNSC(Halo), Earth Alliance(Babylon 5)
The Empire.
French Guy I'd go with SA, Imperial Navy, UNSC, Republic, Earth Alliance, the Terrans (TD)
@@lancer737 no. And the 40k IN doesn't qualify to the top 10 either.
What about the Gunstar from The Last Starfighter?
@@SonsOfLorgar 40k doesn't have any weapons as lethal as the SW ones and or they are to limited in their use.
The QED from "Crisis on two Earths" should be on this list at 9 or 10. to deploy it is a bit of task but the effects are solid. and if you can find the prime planet of the said enemy race you can kill them all in multiple realities.
What about the time dilation device used against the Replicators in Stargate?
It's kinda meh
The Attero device from Stargate Atlantis is way better.
@@Captain_Tumbleweed I love SG-1 but I never really got into Stargate Atlantis, is it good?
@@victorbruant389 It's hit and miss. Mostly good, but kinda wrote itself into a corner.
You missed the cosmic cube from Marvel. Assembled (because it is spread in shards), the wielder can do anything he or she desires to ALL realities, timelines , dimensions and universes . The only being who held his ground against it when Thanos wiped out all there is everywhere except Adam Warlock (because he wanted to keep him) was the one above all, who is truly omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient (basically the writers themselves ).
Nice, thank you for remind me nova bomb from Andromeda - I always thought it was awesome. Nova destroys Magogs pretty well, even dameged their planetship.
yup, all of those will ruin someone's day. some honorable mentions: the Iron Giant shown in the Signature Edition, the Blisk Spore Cannon from Destroy All Humans 2, Dutchboy from the Geostorm movie, the Great Clock from Ratchet and Clank Future: a Crack in Time, and Godzilla's farts.
so many Last Resort weapons, so many hostile aliens, so much shenaniganry to be had. which hostile aliens to use these weapons on first? decisions, decisions.
*looks at every hostile alien race ever*
#1 Bruce Willis
You forgot Buster Machine 3 from Japanese OVA series "Gunbuster". AKA The Black Hole Bomb, Buster Machine 3 effectively destroys a galaxy by creating a supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy or amplify an existing one (Sagittarius A*) . The black hole absorbs the core and nearby star systems then winks out of existence. With no core, the unabsorbed systems fly away. It was used to wipe out the species of spaceship sized creatures that needed the coew as an incubation chambers. Blast rradius was less than 8000kpc as our solar system was not "absorbed".
From a certain point of view, the Flood themselves were the last resort weapon of the Precursors.
Kudos for the list, it would be impossible to list them all. Glad someone else listed the Trilithium Starkiller from Star Trek, that and the Genesis torpedo were the first two I thought of.
The Molecular Disruptor from the Ender's Game series also known as the MD Device or the Little Doctor could create a virtually endless chain reaction limited only by the amount of matter at or near a given target area.
You missed out the Doomsday Machine from Star Trek TOS.
An indiscriminate robotic weapon that had been destroying innumerable planetary systems for millennia until encountered first by the USS Constellation and soon after by the USS Enterprise, at which time its mindless rampage was terminated.
Out of all the planet destroying weapons in science fiction, the Doomsday Machine has the highest destruction tally.
Unfortunately another one was found and used by radical elements of the Klingon Empire in 2409 (Star Trek Online)
The Crucible was built by Protheans but destroyed before they could use it against the Reapers, however its design and schematics were created in parts by several extinct galactic civilizations that lived and died by the hands of the Reapers throughout millions of years.
the dakara device in stargate can propagate into orbit as seen hitting ships in space, its just not ftl capable, hence the stargates being active but it is awesome to see it stargate getting included and some love
I thought you said these were last resort weapons. These are my first line of defense.
I pray your not talking about the halo's
The Reality Bomb is just a more boring version of Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy's Quantum Nova bomb which ironically was originally created for an unaired episode of Doctor Who called "The Krikitmen"
Indeed, mean't to be a movie at the time (also written by Douglas Adams) When the original computer designing it asked 'what do you mean by ultimate'? his masters said 'read a bloody dictionary' (and stomped off to beat up a sack of potatoes)
American Ben: "Humans. The only tribe that matters."
Me: You'll be singing a different tune when we're in a Soylent Green situation. For those of you unfamiliar with that story, think Donner Party.
Lexx from Lexx the dark Zone
Nova Bombs from Andromeda
Wormhole Weapon from Farscape
Xindi Superweapon from star trek
Xyston class Star Destroyer from star wars
Vogon Constructor fleet from hitchhiker´s guide to the Galaxy
vorlon planet Killer from Babylon 5
Overkill from Space Patrol
How about the Q bomb from Starship troopers. One Q bomb can destroy planets easily if I remember correctly
you rock american ben.
I eagerly await the creation of the Generation Food channel.
actually, that's a pretty good list. multi franchise weapons. good job!
One forgotten though rarely used: The Relativistic Kill Vehicle. Perhaps it's just more of a concept, though we saw one in Star Wars The Last Jedi. It's a rock or ship or other object, and what makes it a superweapon? Speed. Velocitas Eradico. Speed kills. You take a fair sized space rock, strap a lightspeed engine to it, chuck it at a planet, and watch as the planets inhabitants under go the death of the dinosaurs. Best thing about that? If you get it going 1c [or at least some significant portion of >99.999%c] it's completely stealth: the doomsday rock's first warning is it smashing into your hapless world and unleashing doomsday.
You didn't mention the Arcturus project from Stargate Atlantis. Not exactly intended as a weapon, but once activated, it created explosion that destroyed five sixths of a solar system.
You forgot the Wave Motion gun from Yamato. When they're done improving it, it destroys black holes.
Wouldn’t that make it worse? All that mass exploding?
Awesome. A, DOCTOR WHO, monster and monstrous weapon there of, made the list. -THE NUMBER ONE SPOT TOO-!! YEAAAH-!!
Do 10 alien races that should be spared
HERESY, SUFFER NOT THE ALIEN TO LIVE!
1. Heresy and 2. No no no if you thinks that has a happy ending you haven’t been paying attention
I don't understand the question...
I mean for slave labor or just cause there fun to kill. Sorry that my question made me sound like a heretic
@@michaelritzen8138 well the imperium of man let the jokaero live
Great review/video!!
👍☯️👍
GF: We need to make a video about hyper advanced civilizations. How should we contrast that?
"Let's have our presenter look homeless"
You're forgetting the Time lords ultimate weapon known as "The Moment" and the Vorlon Planet killer as well as Lexx
Could have use a Blackstone fortress, or the celestial orrey or the breath of the gods instead of cyclonic torpedoes. As they are all more powerful
I would include the nega-sphere from the Lensman series as well as the Bergenholm equipped planets from the alternate universe (where the NORMAL speed was FTL in ours).
What about the Wormhole Weapon from Farscape? This thing was the size of a large cupboard and required as much power as an average FTL jump, and It ate up an entire star system in a matter of minutes via creating an unstable black hole
Planetary Destruction Module in Endless Space 2 is another last resort weapon. Only equippable on the largest of ships, limits their capabilities when equipped, but lets them one-shot a planet. Wipes out the population, leaves the world uninhabitable by anything. The game tends to make negotiation with enemy civilisations more preferable to complete obliteration. It's also often worth using more conventional military tactics, or forcing enough damage to make repairs their entire focus while you get busy doing other things.
I just noticed that the Mass Effect crucible and the Dakaara device from Stargate are pretty much the same, I mean both extremely powerful devices designed by an ancient civilization that can be configured to do several different things and both use an ancient transportation network to affect the entire galaxy.
The grand cannon in robotech is a pretty powerful weapon, they fire it once and it destroyed like 60% of a 20+ million ship fleet.
There is a cannon in tenchi muyo that they use to fight the villain Cain , it is used to destroy small galaxies. Don’t remember the name of this gun however.
You forgot the temblor bomb from Wing Commander III and the Scimitar from Star Trek Nemesis.
Wanna make your own weapons of mass destruction? Eat a really spicy seafood laksa for dinner. And wash it down with six cans of Guinness. I guarantee, the next morning your rump will be a seething warzone.
The starcrusher or the universal reset bomb in the star wars comics, and don't forget about the anihilargensistoriafimiaorgost in Ben 10
On a planetary scale there's also the Alpha/Omega Bomb from Beneath the Planet of the Apes, which caused the Earth to "melt," Operation: Spoilsport from The Greatest American Hero, which would automatically launch all of the US nuclear missiles in the event of the country's destrution, and the Osterhagen Key from the same Doctor Who story that introduced the Reality Bomb. Also from Doctor Who is "
There's the Heavy Reflex Gun from Macrosse. Mounted on the Superdimensional Fortress Macrosse, it could project a devastating beam that would destroy everything for thousands of kilometers .
YES! I was gonna say the Reality Bomb should be number 1
Yeah. Cause if the Daleks trigger it, all realities get Thanos snapped!
The Wormhole weapon. Pretty please. With a cherry on top. Damn I miss Farscape.
*Outstanding move*
Other weapons: 1) A few drops of Nero's red matter will turn any planet into a tiny black hole. 2) The laser attack planet in Star Wars. 3) Sharks with frickin' lasers on their heads!
I think the genesis torpedo for cenventional warfare (no reason to hold back from the xeno). It removes the threat and creates lovely new worlds at the same time. That's just efficient.
The reality bomb for the actual weapon of last resort. Cause if we're losing then we need to make sure no one wins!
Not a bad selection
Others not mentioned
TCS Behemoth (Wing Commander 3)
The Temblar Bomb (Wing Commander 3)
The Gen-Select Weapon (Wing Commander 4)
Is this a uh.. Wing commander fan, maybe? Just kinda guessing off of what I've got.
Well I was a massive fan of the game
That and all the other super weapons had been posted
also The Moment Doctor Who it could destroy a galaxy
What about the Anihilaarg from Ben 10? A device created by 5th deminisional beings capable of destroying the entire universe.
Hm Nice list. Loved it one other weapon that could have been included (potentially) is the Ultimate Nullifier. Or Galactus himself as a a person. Because ya know he is an alien from another dimension and with the use of his ship he sucks the life out of planets
Easily the two most efficient in my opinion (leaving aside the Infinity Gauntlet) would be the Atmospheric Ignition Torpedo, and the Genesis Torpedo. What good is blowing up a planet when you might need it yourself afterwords? The best method of Exterminatus will leave a planet mostly intact and can be colonized after a century or two. The Genesis Device simply skips that wait time and gives you a rebuilt planet ready to be colonized right then and there without any pesky alien artifacts to deal with. Take that Necrons.
Hey boo, a few Black stone fortresses blow up a star
+ necron had one that coud do multible and world engine was cool too
Joseph Bates
“Don’t worry about being RIGHTEOUSLY NUKED if you’re a peaceful alien”
Bold words for a heretic in assault cannon range-
2:39 now this.... is a man I respect
The Moment. The Doomsday Machine. Starkiller Base. The Alpha/Omega bomb.
Random Whovian: Doctor, I don't feel so good. I don't want to go! (Reality Bomb gets triggered)
Just curious what does the Humanity First cause think of the Ancients from Stargate?
I think they count as humans as they could interbreed with humans thus the ata gene being present in the population of earth
A bunch of arogant assholes who's losed every war....
The Daleks want to be the Vex. *LAUGHS IN ATHEON*
