Texas Hold ‘Em

First of all, a huge shout-out to the marvellous Rhiannon Giddens for getting a banjo (and a gourd banjo at that!) onto a Beyoncé track. Queen Bey is lucky to have her. It’s important for me to acknowledge that the banjo evolved from traditional African stringed instruments and was brought to North America and developed by enslaved people. I highly recommend checking out a UA-cam video called “Uncovering the History of the Banjo with Rhiannon Giddens” for more info on this subject. Texas Hold ‘Em is such a fun tune, and even though I was recovering from Covid when I made this, I hope I did it a little bit of justice.
